Pweeee!

A bean of brilliant, blistering light burst from the Shark’s scales and pierced through Belladonna’s shoulder in an instant, leaving behind a perfect, smoking hole of cauterised flesh.

Her Golden Arms flickered for a moment, just enough for her to lose her grip on the fin and slip from its back as it wriggled ceaselessly in the air.

The only thing that stopped her from plummeting to the ground completely was the two fingers she had hooked into the Leech’s burrow.

The Shark screeched as her body weight pulled it down, forcing it to turn in the air as it tried to swim. More light gathered on its glimmering scales, building into the same beads of power that put her in this situation in the first place.

Thwak! Pweeee!

Just before the Shark could loose a beam straight through her forehead, a stone bullet smacked it right in the eye, a perfect shot by the spraying and praying American, that caused the beast to reel and shriek in pain.

The extra wriggle sent the beam flying past Belladonna’s head, just barely catching a few stray hairs alight, as it shot straight towards one of the many fish still swimmingly mindlessly through the moonlight.

However the white laser didn’t carve through the fish or cook it alive. Instead it collided with its glimmering scales, and reflected off it. The singular laser ping ponged between fish, drawing a deadly maze of searing white lines throughout the small clearing, before it finally fizzled out when it struck the grass.

"Screw the easy way! I’m taking you down permanently!" Belladonna growled, as she pushed mana into her finger tips.

Another screech cut through the air as lightning leapt from the runes on her fingertips, and shot straight into the Sharks exposed flesh. Cooking it from the inside, including anything that thought it was good to hide inside of it.

Belladonna’s body flailed in the air from the Shark’s convulsion, before she was whipped across the face by its long, dagger-like tail and sent tumbling to the ground.

She caught herself with her Air Skates, gliding down to the ground before skidding to a halt next to Figg, who was panting heavily after his mana burn.

"Do you think you kill the Sin Sucker?" He heaved out, watching the Shark flail a bit more, before it started to regain control of its body, even if it still had the odd twitch or convulsion here and there.

"I don’t know. But even if I did, it might not matter. I have a funny feeling that I just pissed off the host."

As if to agree with her, an explosion of bloodlust burst through the clearing, even worse than before, as the moonlight bathing the Holy area turned a bloody red.

The Shark screeched, this time in rage rather than pain, before it whipped around and locked its murderous gaze on Belladonna.

Yup. She had definitely pissed it off.

"I’ll keep its attention on me, can you get me what I need?" She asked Figg, pulling out her small dagger and showing it to him.

Figg glanced at the dagger for a second, before nodding quickly. Without another word, he turned on his heels and fled towards the edge of the clearing.

Belladonna chuckled at the way he ran, before looking back up at the Shark suspended in the bloody moonlight, which was already gathering up a dozen new balls of searing light.

Its eyes were still locked on her. It was not concerned in the slightest by the prey making its brave and valiant escape, only on killing her.

She wasn’t sure whether to feel offended or flattered, although her ego leaned more towards the latter.

Belladonna clapped her hands in front of her and performing a quick series of hand signs, gathering a volatile red energy between her hands that crackled like lightning. An energy that she proceeded to thrust into her chest.

Her muscles bulged, her eyes turned bloodshot and her veins became worms wriggling desperately in an attempt to free themselves from her skin. Each rapid pulsation of her heart was clear as day on these veins, as it started to pick up the pace until it was thundering at close to 200 BPM.

The [Beserkers Blood Rush] spell, a reward that she had gained from the Hellish Dungeon, along with many other things.

It gave boosts similar to, but weaker than her transformed state at a similar cost. It hadn’t been worth it at the time, and although she had cannabalised some of it into Glyph’s, she had not recarved those Glyphs on her current body.

She had a limit on what she could enchant herself with, the same way that a sword or a scroll could not be overloaded with enchantments without crumbling to dust. That was a limit that she had already come close to reaching with her more complex Glyph work.

But that limit didn’t account for spells.

She could feel the energy boiling within her, desperate to be let loose to cause anarchy. But it was different, it was in a turmoil of its own creation. The natural flow that the spell wanted to take through her body clashed with the alterations she had previously made, plus the alterations she was currently trying to make by sheer willpower alone.

It was trying to invade her mind, to drive her to madness so that she lost herself in a Beserker’s Frenzy. But after so long pushing down her own voice of bloodlust and insanity, Belladonna’s will had become like iron.

She fought against it silently, until finally, the energy crackling relented within her and succumbed to her will. The energy that wanted to move into her mind retreated with its tail between its legs, and instead flooded her body with even more power as it dispersed throughout her.

At the same moment, Belladonna heard a ring in her head, followed by a series of similar rings overlapping each other with how fast they were coming in.

"Hysila Sanus Hem’geno." The words slipped from Belladonna’s lips before she even realised what she was saying, or that she did not speak the language itself.

But the moment they left her lips, the power coursing through her flared and increased even further as her bulging muscles rapidly compressed, and Belladonna’s body became surrounded by crackling blood-red lightning.
