Chapter 376: Chapter: 375 Glorious purpose.

Rosalina breathed heavily as beads of sweat gathered around her temple. She wiped them away with the back of her hand while staring at the corpse of the Terror Mantis lying several meters away.

"Damn, I really need to reach the Infinite Core as soon as possible," Rosalina murmured. "Even using my Rose Petal Eyes for just a few seconds was enough to almost dry up my core."

Julius walked over and nodded. He was feeling the same strain. The sword that had pierced the Terror Mantis’s heart had not been created at that moment.

He had placed it there quite a while ago, back when he first noticed the creature. The moment he realized they were dealing with a Celestial-ranked beast, he had quietly prepared the attack and waited for the right opportunity to use it.

That single attack, however, had consumed a frightening amount of his mana.

"If I were already an Infinite Core Spell Caster, I wouldn’t have to worry about something like this," Julius muttered. "Once we reach the Infinite Core, our mana will be practically limitless."

"Well, whatever." Rosalina shrugged, though she was still breathing heavily.

"These eyes might suck us dry, but at the same time, they give us the ability to fight even a Celestial-ranked beast. We should be grateful. If it weren’t for these eyes, that Terror Mantis would’ve beaten the crap out of us, wouldn’t it?"

"Right. I agree." A calm voice suddenly came from behind them. "When I was at the Void Core, these eyes made me practically invincible among my peers. But alas, I still can’t awaken the third ability."

"I suppose we’re in the same boat."

A calm voice suddenly came from behind them.

Julius froze, Rosalina froze as well.

Both of them slowly turned their heads toward the source of the voice, disbelief immediately appearing in their eyes. They exchanged a glance before instinctively moving apart and taking defensive stances.

Julius’s hand immediately tightened around the handle of his sword, his knuckles turning white.

Because sitting casually on a tree branch several meters away was a woman they had absolutely no desire to encounter.

She was a Zlycon woman with long auburn hair and a pair of Rose Petal Eyes.

She sat there as though she had been watching their entire battle, one leg dangling from the branch while a faint smile rested on her lips.

Rosalina’s face instantly paled.

"Miasma..." she whispered.

Julius’s expression became equally grim.

Miasma, the woman who had previously attempted to take Rosalina’s body. The woman who had been driven away after their plans collided with hers.

And, more importantly, a Zlycon who had somehow appeared inside the Nightmare Forest.

How was that possible?

Julius had no answer.

The last time they had encountered her, she had been after Rosalina’s body, and Julius had no reason to believe that her intentions had suddenly become harmless.

If anything, the situation was worse than before.

Their identities had already been exposed, and Julius’s father had beaten Miasma badly enough to make the grudge between them even deeper. If she had spent all this time waiting for an opportunity to retaliate, then they had practically walked straight into her trap.

"What are you doing here?" Rosalina asked through gritted teeth.

Miasma looked at the two of them with an amused expression before slowly jumping down from the branch. She landed gracefully on the ground and casually dusted off her clothes.

"Relax. I won’t kill you."

Her words did little to ease the tension.

Miasma smiled.

"The last time I tried, I failed. Besides..." She paused, her expression becoming slightly awkward. "My aunt scolded me. She even punished me for attempting to steal her body."

Julius’s eyes narrowed.

"Aunt?"

His mind immediately began working. Could she mean Destiny’s daughter?

And if Miasma was speaking about her as though she were still alive, did that mean Destiny’s daughter had survived?

There were far too many questions, but Julius kept them to himself. Asking directly would only reveal how little he understood about Miasma’s circumstances.

Instead, he decided to test her.

"I met your grandmother," Julius said.

Miasma’s smile disappeared for a moment.

"I know that might sound like I’m bullshitting you, but believe me, I’m not. She told me that you would help us, so can I take her words as credible?"

Miasma remained silent. For several seconds, she simply stared at Julius.

Her expression was difficult to read, and Julius couldn’t tell whether she was surprised by his words or trying to determine how much of the truth he actually knew.

Eventually, she nodded.

"Yeah. I met her too."

Rosalina’s eyes narrowed.

"And?"

"She told me something similar."

Miasma’s smile slowly returned. "And besides, I don’t have any intention of killing you now. In fact, I’ve been waiting for you here for the last five years."

"Waiting for us?"

Rosalina stepped slightly forward from behind Julius, suspicion evident in her eyes.

"Yeah," Miasma replied casually. "You are here for her blood, aren’t you?"

Julius and Rosalina exchanged a glance. So she really knew. Neither of them lowered their guard, but Julius eventually gave a small nod.

Miasma smiled as though their reaction had confirmed something she had already suspected.

"Come with me."

Miasma glanced at them before sighing.

"My granny told me some interesting things, you see. Because of what she told me, I’ve changed my goal."

Her eyes briefly shifted toward the corpse of the Terror Mantis.

"I originally wanted to become invincible through my grandfather’s Invincible Path Legacy. I thought that was the only path worth pursuing. If I obtained that inheritance and reached the end of the path, there would be almost nothing in this world capable of standing against me."

She paused before looking back at Julius and Rosalina.

"But then my grandmother told me something far more interesting."

"What?" Julius asked.

Miasma’s smile widened, she raised her hands and spread them like wings.

" You see, I was entrusted with a glorious purpose."
