Villainess is being pampered by her beast husbands
Chapter 549 --549
**"Vanguard Global will acquire your entire coastal shipping fleet, assume your outstanding debts, and retain your union workers at their current pay scale. In exchange, you sign over complete controlling interest, and you step down as CEO immediately."**
Marcus Sterling, a red-faced, aging shipping magnate who had been steadily driving his family’s company into the ground, slammed his fist onto the table.
"This is extortion!" Marcus yelled, his face purple with outrage. "You’re offering me pennies on the dollar! My family has owned those shipping lanes for four generations. You think you can just march in here, a ghost with no corporate history, and swallow us whole?"
**"Your family is bankrupt, Marcus,"** Kaya replied, not blinking. **"You’ve lost three major cargo shipments to piracy in the last quarter because you refused to pay for adequate security escorts. Your insurance premiums have quadrupled. You are bleeding out. I am not extorting you. I am offering you a tourniquet. If you don’t sign that paper today, Vanguard Global will simply wait two months for you to declare insolvency, and we will buy your ships at auction for half of what I am offering you right now."**
Marcus ground his teeth, his eyes darting frantically around the room. He was a man used to bullying his way through negotiations, shouting down his opponents, and using his massive, heavily armed private security guards to intimidate rivals.
He glanced back at the two massive, scarred ex-military bodyguards standing behind his chair.
"I don’t know who you think you are, little girl," Marcus snarled, leaning over the table, his tone turning distinctly threatening. "But in this city, respect is earned. You don’t just walk in and take what’s mine. Maybe you need to be taught a lesson in how the real world operates."
He gave a sharp, subtle nod to his bodyguards.
The two massive men stepped forward, their hands reaching inside their jackets toward their concealed holsters, intending to physically intimidate the young female CEO into backing down.
They didn’t even make it a full step.
The executives in the room didn’t see Veer move. To the human eye, it was simply a blur of dark blue fabric.
In a fraction of a millisecond, Veer bypassed the length of the conference table. He didn’t draw a weapon. He didn’t shout. He moved with the absolute, silent, blinding speed of an apex predator dropping from the sky.
*CRACK.*
Veer’s hand clamped around the throat of the first bodyguard, his thumb perfectly pressing against a cluster of nerves. He violently slammed the man face-first into the glass table. The heavy, tempered glass groaned under the impact, spider-webbing instantly. The bodyguard went completely limp, out cold before he even registered the pain.
Simultaneously, as the second bodyguard drew his pistol, Veer pivoted flawlessly on his heel. He delivered a brutal, pinpoint kick to the man’s knee. The joint inverted with a sickening *snap*. As the guard screamed and collapsed, Veer snatched the falling pistol out of mid-air, stripped the magazine, ejected the chambered round, and tossed the useless pieces of metal clattering onto the table.
It was over in less than two seconds.
The boardroom was entirely silent, save for the agonizing groans of the bodyguard with the shattered knee.
Veer casually straightened his silk tie, entirely unbothered. He didn’t even look out of breath. He stepped back around the table and resumed his position behind Kaya’s right shoulder, resting one hand casually on the back of her leather chair. He looked down at the terrified, hyperventilating Marcus Sterling and flashed a brilliantly dark, predatory smile.
"I apologize for the interruption, Mr. Sterling," Veer said smoothly, his deep voice dripping with dangerous charm. "Please, continue your lesson on how the real world operates. We are taking notes."
By the door, Cutie hadn’t moved an inch. He just let out a soft, bored grunt.
Marcus was trembling violently, his eyes glued to his two elite, highly expensive bodyguards who had just been dismantled by a man in a tailored suit without breaking a sweat. He looked slowly back to Kaya.
Kaya hadn’t flinched. She hadn’t even blinked. She just pushed the legal documents an inch closer to him.
**"Sign the contract, Marcus,"** Kaya ordered softly.
Marcus practically snatched the gold-plated pen off the table. His hands were shaking so badly he could barely form his signature, but he signed every single page in record time.
### The Aftermath
Ten minutes later, Kaya, Veer, and Cutie walked out of the towering skyscraper and into the underground VIP parking garage.
Hiro was leaning against the hood of a sleek, armored black Maybach, checking his phone. When he saw them approach, he immediately stood at attention, opening the rear door.
"How did the acquisition go, Boss?" Hiro asked, though the small smirk on his scarred face indicated he already knew the answer.
**"Flawlessly,"** Kaya said, sliding into the plush leather backseat. **"Vanguard Global now officially controls sixty percent of the eastern seaboard’s shipping lanes."**
Veer slid in next to her, loosening his tie with a sigh of relief. Cutie climbed into the front passenger seat, immediately rolling down the window to stick his face into the breeze, much to Hiro’s amusement.
"I don’t understand these corporate wars, wife," Veer murmured, leaning his head back against the leather headrest and looking at Kaya. "In the West, if a warlord insulted you, we just took his head. This signing of papers and exchanging of numbers feels unnecessarily drawn out."
Kaya let out a soft laugh, turning her head to look at him. **"It’s a different kind of battlefield, Veer. In this world, money is the venom, and lawyers are the fangs. Marcus is financially dead. He just doesn’t have a severed head to prove it."**
"Still," Veer noted, reaching over and gently tracing the line of her jaw with his thumb. "It was highly satisfying to remind him that you are not prey."
Kaya leaned into his touch, the cold corporate exterior melting away into a genuine, relaxed warmth. She had built an impenetrable fortress around herself in this new world, but Veer and Cutie were the only ones allowed inside the walls.
"Take us back to the estate, Hiro," Kaya commanded. "We celebrate tonight. Order the Wagyu."
Up front, Cutie let out a deafening, joyous roar at the mention of the premium beef, startling a passing businessman in the parking garage so badly he dropped his briefcase.
### The Past Looms
Miles away from the financial district, in the cramped, cluttered, neon-lit basement office of the city’s 14th Precinct, Detective Aris was drinking his fourth cup of stale coffee.
The precinct was quiet, the graveyard shift slowly ticking by. Aris was a veteran detective, a man who couldn’t let go of a puzzle until he found the missing piece. His desk was a chaotic mess of cold case files, suspect photos, and forensic reports.
He was flipping through a copy of a high-end financial magazine, trying to stay awake.
He turned the page, landing on a feature article detailing the explosive, unprecedented rise of a new logistics corporation. The headline read: *VANGUARD GLOBAL: THE NEW GHOST OF WALL STREET.*
The article discussed the aggressive, ruthless buyout of the Sterling shipping fleet. But what caught Aris’s eye wasn’t the financial data. It was the photograph attached to the article.
