Chapter 1832: Father, I’ve Found Annie

  • Next Chapter

This struck a chord with Bertie; he loved Annie... If she were still alive, if she still remembered him as her father, would she love him dearly too?

And she should be about this girl’s age by now, right? For a moment, Bertie suddenly missed his daughter intensely.

"Young lady, what’s your name?" Bertie asked in a fatherly tone. Perhaps it was his deep longing for his daughter, but he felt an affection toward this girl.

"Uncle, my name is Janelle." She was in good spirits today and happy to share, "It means family joy and happiness."

"Janelle, Family Peace. You must be the apple of your parent’s eye."

The girl smiled with her eyes, "They love me very much." She did not reveal her background to him.

While waiting in line, the two exchanged a few words as if they were friends, and the time passed quickly.

After buying breakfast, they each drove off in their separate cars.

When Janelle Mills returned home, Old Mills and Carlotta Sterling happened to be coming downstairs. They were a bit surprised to see their daughter entering through the living room door.

"Janelle, why are you coming in from outside?"

"We thought you were still sleeping and wanted to let you sleep in a bit longer."

"I bought breakfast for you all!" Janelle Mills raised the bag in her hand and said with a smile, "Freshly made red bean cakes! Come and try them!"

The two elder ones came downstairs, and Janelle hurried to prepare some milk, "The line wasn’t too long today."

"You are so thoughtful."

"Haha!"

Then the family of three happily enjoyed breakfast together.

They didn’t talk much, because everyone knew that they were about to go for a family reunion, something they had discussed yesterday.

Whenever Carlotta Sterling thought about this, a sense of loss would well up inside her, as if experiencing a heartbreak, significantly weighing down her mood.

As a man, Old Mills naturally had a stronger mental resilience than a woman, but he too, couldn’t help feeling reluctant and was unwilling to dwell on it deeply.

"Where’s Trevor?" Nathan Mills asked, "Is he going too?"

"No." Janelle replied softly.

Then the elders said nothing more.

Bertie returned with breakfast, and Ian Shelby and Jocelyn Morgan were already up, the three started eating breakfast together.

Bertie was in a good mood, "Riventhal should have many similar delicacies, just undiscovered. Having grown tired of those high-end royal ingredients, these, to me, are a real treat."

"Then stay a little longer." Ian Shelby said to him, "I’ll finish up here and go back once with you, just to see you off." He felt uneasy otherwise.

"No, no, I plan to leave this afternoon." Bertie took a sip of milk and told his son, "I already booked my ticket last night, don’t trouble yourself."

Ian Shelby looked up at him and said solemnly, "Father, I’ve found Annie’s whereabouts."

His heart trembled violently, and he met his son’s gaze. Bertie’s eyes were filled with shock, then excitement, he was too excited to speak.

"Father, I stumbled upon Annie’s bracelet and verified her through a DNA test, confirming she’s our long-sought sister."

She’s alive?!

"Where is she?" Bertie stood up, his trembling voice filled with excitement, staring at his son, his breathing seemed to slow.

"I’m planning to go fetch her and bring her over to meet you." Ian Shelby told him, "Right now."

"Yes!" He was almost impatient, "Go now, go right now, and be safe on the road!" Finally, he could see his daughter!

Ian Shelby finished breakfast, stood up and looked at the girl beside him, "Jocelyn, stay with Father, I’m going to pick up Janelle."

"Alright." Jocelyn Morgan told him, "Don’t worry, go ahead."

After Ian Shelby left, Bertie slowly returned to his senses, softly uttering a name, "...Janelle?"
