Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 1787: A Disheartening Dream
In the bustling downtown, a girl wore a pink dress, she walked forward as if searching for something, anxiously looking around as she walked, her pace quickening, until she started to run.
"Annie!!"
"Annie!"
The King was alone, he too was anxious, his eyes only on that figure, disregarding any danger around, he pursued that figure!
"Annie!!"
The girl didn’t look back; she ran forward anxiously.
"Annie!" The King chased anxiously, shouting at the back of the figure, "Annie, what are you looking for? Daddy will help you find it!"
But as he took a few quick steps forward, reaching out to touch the girl’s shoulder, everyone around suddenly turned transparent, then shattered and disappeared, the girl’s body also shattered instantly, vanishing...
"Annie..." He inhaled sharply, not daring to raise his voice.
On the empty grassland, the King stood there, hand extended, the scene earlier so clear in the mind, yet it seemed more like a dream.
Just like that, watching her disappear.
"Annie!"
"Annie..."
In the dream, the King helplessly looked around, eyes filled with tears of longing, once again feeling the heart-wrenching pain.
"Annie... Annie..."
On the palace bed, the King with closed eyes moved his eyeballs, a tear streamed down his cheek, under the deep impact of loss, he slowly opened his eyes.
Staring emptily at the luxurious golden ceiling, he knew it was just another dream... The feeling of loss in his heart inevitably deepened.
The clear image of the young girl entrenched in his mind, not forgotten as time passed.
That image of a four or five-year-old, petite and charming, a smile always sweet, serene yet gracious.
"Annie..." The King’s heart ached to the point of suffocation, "Will Daddy ever see you again in this lifetime?"
The response was silent.
In the brightly lit study.
Ian Shelby had just tried on the attire for the inheritance ceremony, grand and dignified, with no need for modifications, fitting perfectly.
The designers sighed in relief, the servants folded the clothes carefully, placed them in the gift box, bowed, and then turned to leave.
After the door closed, the room fell silent enough to hear a pin drop.
Ian Shelby sat alone at the desk, unable to resist taking out the red string bracelet from the drawer, with the word ’fortune’ delicately inscribed, gently stroking it, his heart troubled with sorrow.
Some pains are buried deep in the heart, once mentioned, once touched, it’s a heart-wrenching pain... time simply cannot dilute it.
"Annie, are you still alive?" Ian Shelby’s mind was constantly questioning, praying.
Last night he dreamt of his sister again, dreamt she grew up, got taller, was getting married, but upon waking, he knew it was a dream, a dream filled with beautiful wishes.
At this moment, in Taylor Prince’s palace, because his son was beaten and injured, Catherine recently visited frequently, about three times a day.
"Gently..." Taylor sat before the mirror, a bit agitated.
His mother personally applied medicine to his face, compared to the previous day’s bruises, today it had noticeably improved.
"Does it still hurt?" Catherine asked gently, concerned, "I’m being very gentle, does it hurt this much?"
"It doesn’t hurt." Taylor replied, "Just a bit frightened, the pain from the first time applying medicine was unforgettable for life."
Catherine paused, glanced at him, "Will you remember in the future? Will you still do illegal things?"
