Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 1784: Starting Over
It’s really vivid, having gone through this catastrophe, they all have a new understanding of the rest of their lives and will cherish it doubly, letting go of all barriers in their hearts.
Nathan Mills was carefully feeding her, piece by piece, and Carlotta Sterling opened her mouth to take it, chewing it delicately, a long-lost warmth suffusing the air.
"The doctor said you can eat some soft foods. How is it? Do you still like the taste?" Old Mills asked gently.
Carlotta held back her usual assertiveness and determination, looked at him with tears in her eyes, and nodded.
After a long while, she choked up and spoke, "Old Mills..." Her nose prickled, and tears uncontrollably spilled over again.
Panicked, Nathan Mills didn’t know what to do, quickly put down the pastry in his hand, and reached out to hold her in his arms, "Don’t cry, don’t cry... It’s all over now... Don’t cry." He too wanted to cry.
"Old Mills..." Carlotta’s heart twinged, suddenly ripping with pain, "Old Mills... I’m sorry..." In her youth, her stubbornness and willfulness led to their missing out on so many years.
"Carlotta, stop, don’t apologize." The middle-aged man held her shoulders and gently pushed her away from his embrace a little, locking eyes with her at close range, he said, "Let’s turn the page on the past, okay? Get well, and we’ll look forward to the future together."
"We..." Carlotta looked at him with tears in her eyes, "How do we look forward to the future?"
"Let’s remarry." Nathan Mills didn’t hesitate, once again taking her hand, he told her, "Once you recover, I’ll propose to you, and we can start again."
Four eyes met, both of them had tears glistening in their eyes, and she didn’t refuse.
Carlotta’s heart hurt so much, she couldn’t help but once again reach out and embrace him actively.
The repressed emotions in their hearts awakened and boiled at this moment, eyes filled with tears, holding each other tightly, sharing warmth.
Two hours later, Trevor and Janelle returned to the hospital after watching a movie.
They felt even the air was sweet, the breeze was sweet, too, and the heavy stone on their hearts finally dropped.
This feeling was really long lost, every second of these past days they were worried for Mrs. Sterling.
Afraid she wouldn’t wake up, afraid she’d become a vegetable, and afraid she’d lose her memory after waking up.
Now they could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
When they returned to the ward, they saw Old Mills just fed Sister Sterling a bit of warm water, and watching him take away the cup, the scene was warm and sweet.
The two young people exchanged a smile.
"Janelle, Trevor..." Carlotta was leaning against the headboard, smiling as she looked at them holding hands, "You’ve worked hard these days."
"Not hard at all." Janelle let go of Trevor’s hand, took a few steps to the bedside, "Mom, how are you feeling now? Any discomfort? Is your head still hurting?"
"I’m quite good." Carlotta smiled, she looked contentedly at Trevor standing by the bed, this man mature and reliable.
"Auntie, just focus on recovering, don’t worry about anything else," Trevor told her warmly, "I’ll take good care of Janelle and Uncle."
"Dad." Janelle turned her eyes to her father, "Why don’t you go rest first? We’ll stay with mom, look, you’ve got dark circles."
Carlotta felt sorry too, "Yes, go rest first, let the kids accompany me for a while," she urged him to leave.
"Go, go, we’re here."
Nathan Mills suddenly remembered the roses in his yard, which should also be watered as there hadn’t been rain these days.
So, he agreed, "Alright, alright, you rest well too. I’ll come to see you again tomorrow morning?"
"Okay." Carlotta nodded, giving him a gentle smile.
Janelle was very happy, her dad could rest well, her mom had woken up, she really didn’t need to worry too much.
