Chapter 336: You are good at pushing a cart?

"Seriously?"

Lucian spoke with a flat look on his face.

[What? Do you want me to spoon-feed you everything?]

Aurelia answered and Lucian’s mouth twitched.

In the end, he momentarily closed his eyes and let out a sigh. Then, he glanced at the cart he was supposed to steal, nothing about it looked important. Several covered dishes, a dark glass bottle, cutlery. It was probably someone’s meal.

His eyes then moved from the cart towards the woman pushing it.

She was attractive.

Long dark-brown hair tied behind her head, crimson eyes and a fitted black servant uniform with the Arcelis crest knitted on it.

And when he saw her—

Lucian smiled.

"Alright, leave it to me."

[I knew I could rely on you.]

Aurelia chuckled.

Lucian rolled his eyes and started walking.

The Vampire noticed him approaching and her expression changed immediately.

She recognised him, how could she not? Lucian was practically the talk of the House. Not only did he bring Varek, he had also trained with Vespera a few times and had defeated several Fullblood Ranked Vampires in a spar.

"Mr. Cross."

She bowed lightly.

"Mr. Cross?"

Lucian looked hurt.

"...yes?"

The maid had no idea what she did wrong.

"That sounds so formal."

That made her smile.

"What would you prefer?"

"Lucian works best."

He smiled.

She paused for a moment, considering if she should indulge him, but then—

"Lucian."

She used his name.

"See? Much better."

His smile widened, she smiled a little as well.

[Real smooth.]

Aurelia commented through the earpiece, taking full advantage of the fact that no one besides Lucian could hear her.

Lucian did not react to her, Aurelia, however, wasn’t making it easy.

[How about you ask her out while you are at it? If it’s you, she would agree.]

Lucian was handsome.

Unbelievably so, even when he was surrounded by Vampires, a race known for their beauty, his features stood out.

Not to mention Vampires were attracted to Lucian for another reason, his blood. The purity of his Demon Blood was high and somehow, he was still a Human, so the likelihood of his Blood corrupting them was low.

To most Vampires, Lucian was a walking meal, a very, very pleasant meal.

And Lucian knew that.

[Come on, go for it. I am sure you are shameless enough to try.

Or am I making you nervous?]

The Ancient Vampire was enjoying herself.

As difficult as it was, Lucian kept ignoring her. He kept walking with the Vampire Maid as if it was the most natural thing to do. The Maid did not think it was odd either, even though they only exchanged a few words, she felt... a strange kind of connection with him.

"You work in the kitchens?"

Lucian asked curiously.

"Sometimes."

The Maid nodded as she kept pushing the cart.

"Sometimes?"

"I work in household service. Wherever I’m needed."

"That sounds exhausting."

"It isn’t too bad."

She shrugged, then she glanced at him and—

"Though guests do tend to interview me from time to time."

She spoke with a playful smile on her face.

"What? I wasn’t the first to show interest?"

Lucian was surprised.

Then he took a moment to look at her and—

"Well, it does make sense."

He shrugged.

"Do you often get interviewed like this?"

He asked curiously and before she could answer, he raised his hand.

"Don’t answer, I get nervous when I think I am competing, so I’ll act like I am the only one."

He then looked at her and—

"For my sake, you also act like I am the only one around you."

He whispered softly.

"...I can do that."

She nodded.

"For your sake."

"For my sake, of course."

Lucian nodded with a smile.

The two chuckled as they continued walking.

"Please."

Then, Lucian placed his hand on the cart.

"I am fin—"

She tried to resist but—

"I am trying to show my gentlemanly side here."

"...is that so?"

"Yes, let me put in some work. Trust me, I am very good at it."

"You are good at pushing a cart?"

"Unbelievably good."

Lucian nodded as he took the cart so naturally that the maid never once doubted him, her eyes just remained on him as she laughed out loud.

"So? What’s your name?"

Lucian asked.

"Shouldn’t you start with that?"

"My online coach told me I first need to build a connection."

The maid smiled at that.

"You have a coach for this?"

She raised her eyebrow.

"You think I can do this on my own? As I said, I get nervous."

The maid laughed.

She knew it was a lie. There was no way this was his first time approaching a woman. There were no signs of nervousness on his face, in fact, he was practically oozing with confidence, so much so that one would even think it was plain arrogance.

But...

She liked it.

And he was making her laugh.

Plus, she didn’t mind the company as she walked.

"You are doing quite well, your coach will be proud."

"I’ll make sure I give her your positive review."

"Your coach is a woman?"

"Who better to learn how to chase from than the one you are chasing?"

He smiled.

The woman thought about it for a while, then she tilted her head in confusion.

"I thought it was something along the lines of learning fishing from the fishermen, not the fish."

"That’s foolish."

Lucian instantly shook his head.

"How can you compare a woman to a mere fish? Anyone who uses that approach is destined to fail.

But I am different.

I do not wish to fail."

"You seem very motivated."

The maid chuckled again.

"So? What’s your name?"

"Elena."

She answered.

"Lucian."

"I know."

"Basic manners."

"Right."

She laughed again.

The two relaxed, then as they continued walking, Lucian asked another question.

"So where are you taking this?"

It was so natural that Elena did not suspect a thing.

"Western residential wing."

Lucian nodded casually. Then, as if he thought of something, his face changed.

"Wait, for Lord Marius?"

That made Elena blink in surprise.

"How did you know?"

"It is really for him?"

Lucian seemed surprised as well. Elena nodded and—

"Perfect."
