True Incubus: The Demon with No Limits
Chapter 334: If you found another way to get what you want.
"I did hear you.
I just don’t understand why you’re asking.
You were the one who said I made the right decision."
Lucian frowned.
[I did.]
Vivienne answered immediately.
[You did make the right decision.]
"...then what is the problem?"
Lucian asked as he tilted his head in confusion.
[There is no problem.]
Vivienne replied.
[Accepting her advance would have been inefficient.]
"Inefficient."
Lucian’s mouth twitched.
He could practically predict that she would use such a word. Vivienne didn’t care what he was thinking, her logic was clear.
[Aurelia is an Ancient Vampire. Her blood requirements are not comparable to those of an ordinary Vampire. Once she has you, the very nature of your blood makes it so that you would want to make sure she comes only to you and no one else.]
Vivienne explained.
Lucian actually remained silent on that.
Honestly, he wasn’t sure if this was just about the nature of his blood.
Even before he became what he had become now.
He was... never good with sharing.
Lucian was very, very possessive, he didn’t even like Naomi making other friends, so much so that when she started making more friends, he distanced himself from her. Of course, the distance between them formed because of various other reasons, but Lucian’s possessiveness was definitely a part of it.
He just... couldn’t accept it.
Though now, he didn’t think he could keep ignoring it anymore.
[In your case, your own nature makes it even more difficult.]
That was when Vivienne commented.
Lucian frowned.
"My nature?"
[Don’t feign ignorance, accept yourself as you are.]
Vivienne instructed in her usual cold tone.
"..."
Lucian decided to remain silent. Sometimes, it was scary to think how much this woman actually knew.
[Your very nature won’t let her consume any other blood but your own, this comes with two problems. First, you have no power over an Ancient Vampire, nothing you say or do can make her stop wanting more blood, blood other than yours.
Second, even if she does go along with your idea and decides to properly satiate herself using your blood alone, one feeding round won’t be enough, you would need more.
Ten, twenty, possibly fifty or even sixty times. Ancient Vampires have very strong cravings and are even more difficult to satiate.]
"..."
Lucian remained silent.
He knew all of that, he had read more about this specific part after Aurelia’s ’offer’ yesterday.
[Your regeneration does not make that irrelevant either, blood loss is still blood loss. Your regeneration replaces your tissues faster than an ordinary Human’s, but repeatedly draining your body of blood completely and forcing yourself to regenerate all that blood will exhaust you.
Not only would your recovery eventually slow down, you’d be in a state where you cannot train for at least two weeks, possibly more.]
Lucian shook his head at those words.
He could hear from her tone how that part was completely unacceptable to her.
It was almost amusing.
[Not to mention there is the risk of you losing your strength, permanently.]
"The permanent part is rare."
Lucian pointed out.
[It is still there.]
Vivienne spoke flatly and Lucian—
He stayed silent.
Yes, it was still there.
That was actually the main reason Lucian rejected Aurelia’s advances yesterday.
He wanted her, there was no doubt about it. There was a connection between them, a connection he felt very clearly but...
That demon who killed his parents was still out there.
An enemy Lucian absolutely had to get rid of, with his own two hands.
And to do that...
He needed strength.
Strength was the one thing he absolutely could not compromise on. So the moment the possibility of him permanently losing his strength became clear, he backed down.
[And all of this came with no benefit.]
Lucian sighed at those words.
’No benefit.’
Clearly, Vivienne did not consider the Vampire a ’benefit’.
And why would she?
She did not care whether the Vampire was beautiful or whether Lucian wanted her. The only useful thing she could bring was her connections, but Vivienne knew better than to expect that.
Aurelia was a massive political piece in the Supernatural World, she would not make moves for the sake of an interesting boy she met a few days ago.
Or at least...
That’s what Vivienne believed.
Anyways, whatever it was, Vivienne was not in support of Lucian being together with Aurelia because being with her reduced his training efficiency, put him at the risk of getting weaker, and provided no benefit whatsoever.
Sure, considering her strength, she wouldn’t get exhausted anytime soon after they got intimate, ultimately allowing Lucian to gather as much Demonic Energy as he desired but...
Lucian’s reserves weren’t large enough for him to worry about this problem right now.
Aurelia, as far as Vivienne was concerned, was useless to Lucian and Lucian knew of his teacher’s opinion.
This was why he didn’t understand.
If rejecting her advances was the correct decision, why was she... asking about it?
And as if Vivienne could read his mind, she answered his question.
[Because I know you.]
"What does that mean?"
Lucian narrowed his eyes as he looked around the room.
Was this woman here?
And if she was, did she have the ability to read minds or something?
Vivienne didn’t know what he was doing, nor did she care, she continued explaining her thoughts.
[You have spoken about Aurelia enough times. Your interest in her is obvious, you are curious about her and you find her attractive.
You wanted her.]
She spoke directly.
Powerful, interesting, dangerous, Aurelia was exactly the kind of woman Lucian would be drawn to.
Vivienne understood that.
And she also understood something else—
[Your nature does not allow you to abandon something you want this easily.]
That made Lucian go silent for half a second.
Then, he smiled.
So he was caught.
[You accepted it too easily, even if you believe the cost outweighs the benefits, you would show... a stronger resistance to the idea of abandoning her.
You did not.
And the only possibility that you would not would be...
If you found another way to get what you want.]
