Chapter 631 - 630: Going south using bicycles 2
Chapter 631: Chapter 630: Going south using bicycles 2
Those near the shore were obviously more affected, as they had seen more buildings destroyed in those areas.
As they got farther, they only saw a few buildings destroyed, and most of them were only partially destroyed.
But in those areas, they encountered more zombies, as there were fewer zombies in those previous areas because a lot of them had been buried in the debris and couldn’t get out, even if they hadn’t died completely.
So in those areas, instead of just Nathan, the other ability users were also doing their best to kill more zombies wanting to block their way, so that their travel wouldn’t be interrupted.
He didn’t need to take any action in those two days, which was good, as it meant that at least he wouldn’t have to do a lot of things while they were traveling south, as long as they were more careful and didn’t encounter too many powerful zombies or mutant animals at once.
After they finally moved out of the affected area, they didn’t plan to travel immediately, but planned to rest for a day.
They didn’t bother looking for a house or a building to stay in, because they would still have to clean those up before they could use them.
While they were resting, they opened their maps again and saw that they were already near the city that they had to pass through.
When they were planning their route going south, they had looked through all the roads on their map, but they still had to pass through one of the towns closest to the city so that they could continue moving south.
So even though they wouldn’t have to go through the city center, they still had to pass through populated areas near the city so that they could successfully move southward.
"We’re already near those areas? No wonder there are more zombies around already," Camille said.
"So, how are we going to pass through those areas more quietly? Even though they’re not the city center, because they’re the towns closest to the city, it’s still very populated.
There are 16 of us and only 5 adults and older kids who can fight. I’m sure Luciel wouldn’t have a problem in continuously fighting zombies and other things in there, but we would certainly have a problem, as we couldn’t use our abilities as continuously as Luciel could, and there are certainly more powerful zombies in those areas, so it would even take more time to deal with those," Nathan said.
"Unfortunately, we can’t just bypass and avoid entering it, as there’s no other road that we could use to go there," Nate said.
"My poisons are also not very effective when fighting zombies, so I can’t help that much. I can only help more when dealing with mutant animals," Jacob said.
The lethality of the poisons that Jacob could use had already increased, but the zombies had also gotten stronger, so most of the poisons that he could use wouldn’t be effective against those stronger zombies. But it’s indeed still very effective when dealing with mutant animals.
"My powers also aren’t that great alone, but I could continue using them to assist in powering up Nathan’s and Camille’s fire," Nate also said.
Nate’s power tends to work better when it comes to detection, as he could use it in a wider range to detect things a few kilometers away from him. However, his control over the wind when using it for attacks isn’t that great, just like what he mentioned.
"So, we could only try to move as fast as we could through the most populated town near the city?" Nathan said and then sighed.
"Then we’ll just have to be more careful. Why don’t we just use one RV while going through that city so that it would be easier to defend it?" Camille also said.
"That would be good. It would be easy to defend, but we’ll just have to make do with the cramped space," Nathan said, and then turned to him. "Can we use your RV? I’m sure Treyton used better materials when modifying it."
"Sure, we could use it, but only to go through these towns, as it would be too cramped if we continue using only one all the way to the South Base."
He doesn’t mind staying in a cramped RV, but if they had to stay in it for a long time, then it’s a no.
"Yep, only to go through those towns. I also don’t want to keep staying in a cramped place when we could simply use another one," Nathan also said in agreement.
After their agreement, all of them simply did what they could to relax. Luciel brought out his phone and started playing until he managed to level up his character by two levels, as it was already getting hard to level up with the few resources in the game, with no updates or additional events where they could get more resources for their characters.
Afterwards, he brought out his other phone together with the notebook to see if Treyton had written anything, as he hadn’t bothered checking it while they were traveling with their bicycles.
He checked the notebook, and sure enough, Treyton had written that they had also started repairing the bridge around them.
According to Treyton, they were still making it sturdy, but not as sturdy as the first connection of the bridge that they had fixed before, because they were worried that something else would happen, so they were rushing to get off the bridge that they were on.
However, there were more parts of the bridge that were destroyed because of the earthquake and tsunami, so they were still fixing it.
Then, when he opened the phone, he saw that Treyton had also saved a few photos showing how the other members of the team were still busy collecting metals and connecting the bridge.
Luciel just chuckled and wrote that they were finally entering one of the nearest towns to the city that they encountered, as they needed to pass through it to continue going south.
