Chapter 625 - 624: Encountering mutant rats 2
Chapter 625: Chapter 624: Encountering mutant rats 2
It’s still better to avoid them than to attack them outright, which would surely just provoke them. He still wanted to sleep, so it’s good if those mutant rats would just go wherever they wanted to go.
If he had already rested properly, then he wouldn’t mind dealing with those mutant rats as practice targets, but now he was more interested in going back to his bed. That’s why he just made a protective vine dome as well as sprinkling something strong to cover their smell.
The sound of the mutant rats was visibly getting stronger and stronger until they were finally in front of them.
Thankfully, those rats didn’t stop, but just continued their travel onwards to wherever it is.
They waited for 3 minutes before all the mutant rats had finally crossed in front of them, so Luciel finally opened a few holes in the dome to check how things were outside.
Luciel looked carefully, and he finally didn’t see any rats nearby at all.
"Ok, we can go back to rest. I won’t remove the dome anymore, just in case. Anyway, I already opened some holes to serve as windows and doors," Luciel said and then went back inside their RV to continue resting.
He quickly closed his eyes to sleep, as it seems that there would still be some disturbance later on, so it’s better to rest first so that he wouldn’t be in a bad mood later whenever he’s woken up by something.
Fortunately, nothing disturbed them after those mutant rats. There were aftershocks, but they weren’t strong, so Luciel didn’t care about the shaking and just continued closing his eyes.
When he was finally willing to wake up, the others had already finished eating their breakfast.
There was a lot of things left in their fridge left by Richard and the others, so Luciel didn’t bother adding more food supplies to their RVs.
When he woke up, Austin readily handed him the food that they had left in the thermal box.
When he looked around, he didn’t see Jacob and Nate, so it seemed that they really went around killing zombies as he had heard them talk about it while they were leaving.
After breakfast, he removed most of the vines covering their surroundings, but still left some to act as pillars for the cover that he left so that he could still sit outside even when the sun is up.
After a while, he went to the edge where Nathan and the others were to check the state of the sea.
When he looked down, he saw that in the distance, aside from the things that were floating near the shore, the sea had returned to what it had looked like before again, as if it hadn’t caused a lot of damage to the surrounding areas.
But if you looked at the surroundings, it was obvious that the tsunami yesterday had destroyed a lot of things, aside from the things that were destroyed by the strong earthquake.
Because of the disasters yesterday, they could see that a lot of buildings weren’t standing anymore, and a lot had really fallen to the ground, unlike most of the buildings before which only had cracks and other things.
Then, he also heard what Nathan and some of the kids were pointing at and also looked over.
The kids were saying that it seems that a mutant fish had been washed ashore and couldn’t go back to the sea.
When he looked over, he could see a large fish that was certainly still alive, as it would still try to move its tail to go back to the sea, but to no avail as it was very far from the sea.
"Why don’t we go and get that fish later? I’m sure those researchers in the North Base would be glad to have it," Nathan said.
"Ok, we can go and get that fish later," Luciel said in agreement. They had only seen zombie fishes, so it’s indeed good to let those at the North Base research something like the sea fish that they had just seen.
"By the way, do you finally know where we are?" Luciel asked.
He had already looked around again as it was already morning and they could see more things clearly, but he still couldn’t discern where they were, as most of the buildings had already fallen, so he really couldn’t see much of it.
"Yes, I finally know where we are. Actually, we’re already near the South Base, which was our destination. However, to go there, we either have to take a boat from here or use the road and pass through 2 nearby cities," Nathan said.
"We certainly can’t take a boat. Just look at that large fish over there; if we take a boat, we would be eaten in no time. So, we could only travel and bypass the cities that you mentioned.
Well, we could just target the outskirts and pass through them; at least those places wouldn’t be too crowded.
By the way, do you guys know how to get to the South Base using such roads?"
"No, I don’t travel in this area much. I think Treyton also doesn’t travel much, and even if he indeed traveled, he still had his subordinates who surely coordinated cars that he could readily use and wouldn’t use the outskirts.
But if I remember correctly, Treyton actually has a very large area near the outskirts of the last city we have to go through before arriving at the South Base."
"He has a large villa there? How large?" Luciel asked.
"It’s twice as large as the connected villas that we are using in the North Base. Besides, that villa also has a very large garden and has a lot of pools.
He just bought that villa estate 2 or 3 years ago, so I only visited there twice," Nathan said.
"Then, let’s go and visit his villa and take all the things that we can take. Of course, if it’s still standing and hasn’t been taken over by others already, or hasn’t been destroyed by earthquakes and other things," Luciel said.
