Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling
Chapter 758: The Birthmark on the Face
“Uncle, what do you think of this house? If you’re not satisfied, I can go look for another.”
Winston Lowell didn’t even dare breathe too loudly in front of Feng Ye; his legs still felt a bit like jelly. After starting to work for Adrian Hawthorne, he had traveled all over and seen a fair bit of the world, yet Feng Ye’s presence was simply too overwhelming. A single glance from the man made Winston’s heart tremble, drenching his back in a cold sweat.
Winston Lowell would later learn that Feng Ye’s powerful presence was the legendary “killing aura,” something only possessed by those who had truly drawn blood.
Even without knowing this, Winston Lowell didn’t dare underestimate Feng Ye. He waited in fearful silence, not daring to let his eyes wander. Adrian Hawthorne had instructed him to serve Feng Ye with the utmost respect, and now, Winston Lowell finally understood why his boss had given such an order.
‘How could he dare be anything but respectful to a man like this?’
Feng Ye turned to the frail mother and daughter and asked gently, “What do you think of it, Sister-in-law?”
The frail woman had a haggard face and looked to be in her forties, but one could still faintly see the beauty of her youth. The little girl beside her kept her head slightly lowered, a habit she maintained whenever she wasn’t speaking. Still, you could see the faint red mark on her left cheek.
It was an irregularly shaped patch that stretched down from her left eyebrow, about the size of an egg. Its faint, pinkish-red hue made it look like a freshly healed wound. No wonder the girl so often kept her head bowed; she probably didn’t want anyone to see her face.
“It’s wonderful. Thank you for going to all this trouble,” the frail woman said, full of gratitude. Her voice was a stark contrast to her worn appearance—so soft and pleasant that, hearing it alone, one might think she was a young woman in her twenties.
“There’s no need to thank me, Sister-in-law. Old Lowe was my sworn brother, and I promised him I would take care of you and your daughter. To be honest, it would be better if you came to Capria. I live there, so I could look after you anytime,” Feng Ye urged.
He had wanted to bring the mother and daughter to Capria. With his influence there, they could have lived very well. But the two only wanted to return to Old Lowe’s hometown. They said his greatest wish in life had been to return home, and since he couldn’t fulfill it while he was alive, they had to do it for him now that he was gone.
Feng Ye knew he couldn’t persuade them further. This mother and daughter may have looked frail and easily bullied, but in reality, they were both incredibly stubborn.
Still, Feng Ye wanted to try one more time. Neither mother nor daughter was in good health, especially his sister-in-law. Her mind had been deeply affected, and she could have an episode at any moment. He couldn’t stay in Vessaria forever, and if something happened, he would be too far away to help. He was afraid of failing the trust his brother had placed in him.
“You don’t have to worry. We have this wonderful house to live in, and we have Old Lowe here with us. We’ll live a good life,” the frail woman said with a smile, but her eyes held only sorrow and a hint of self-reproach.
The girl also spoke up. “Uncle Ye, I’ll take good care of my mother. Please don’t worry.”
Feng Ye sighed softly. “If anything comes up, call me. If it’s urgent, find this young man here.”
Winston Lowell quickly chimed in with an eager smile, “I live right here in the city. I’m on call anytime. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.”
The mother and daughter smiled, deeply grateful in their hearts for Feng Ye’s thoughtful arrangements. He had truly considered everything for them.
Feng Ye raised his wrist to check the time. It was almost time for lunch, so he invited the mother, daughter, and Winston Lowell to eat at a restaurant. Just then, Adrian Hawthorne and the others arrived. Clayton Xavier was with them, and Jim Thorne was carrying two chickens in his left hand, a few slabs of cured meat in his right, and a chubby little girl on his back.
“Uncle Feng!”
Tang Xiaonan shouted from a distance. Feng Ye’s cold, indifferent expression immediately melted, and the chilly aura around him warmed considerably.
