"That’s right, you should be disgusted. You can earn your own money now, your son is successful, and you’re... passable looking. Divorce that bastard and we’ll find you someone better. What is there to worry about!"

Phoebe Huxley insincerely praised Rosalind Green’s beauty. In truth, she didn’t find her attractive at all. She was just a scrawny thing; Phoebe felt like she could snap her in two with a single finger. A woman who couldn’t do any real work. If she were a mother-in-law, she’d never allow such a delicate daughter-in-law into her family.

Phoebe Thorne and the others all looked at Phoebe Huxley, the corners of their mouths twitching. They finally understood where Jim Thorne got his warped sense of aesthetics. So, the root of the problem was right here!

You could criticize almost anything about Rosalind Green, but her looks were truly flawless. Even as women, they found themselves captivated by her beauty, to say nothing of men.

If Rosalind Green were to get a divorce, even with a son in tow, the moment word got out, the line of men wanting to marry her would surely stretch all the way from Millstone Peak to Xavier Village.

Rosalind Green felt her confidence grow a little. Phoebe Huxley was right. She could earn her own money now, and her son could too. She could live a good life without Ethan Hawthorne. What was there to worry about?

’But... Ethan Hawthorne was the man I gave my heart to. He was my first man, and more importantly, he’s my son’s father. I... I can’t bear to let him go!’

He wasn’t some object she could simply discard when she no longer wanted it. Rosalind Green sighed, her heart twisting in pain. ’I really hope my son is wrong... that Ethan Hawthorne doesn’t have a mistress, and that our family can be whole again, living happily together like we used to.’

"You can’t bear to leave your man, can you?" Phoebe Thorne could read her thoughts; after all, she’d had firsthand experience with this herself.

However, she no longer had any feelings for Brian Chapman; the only ones she couldn’t bear to part with were her children. Rosalind Green was different. She still had deep feelings for her husband; otherwise, she wouldn’t have remained faithful all these years.

Rosalind Green nodded, her voice barely a whisper. "He... he used to treat me so well. He never let me do any chores, and he never complained no matter how much money I spent."

The other women couldn’t help but feel a pang of envy. No wonder Rosalind Green was so delicate; she had clearly been spoiled rotten by her husband. They wanted a man like that, too—one who wouldn’t make them do any work and would let them spend money as they pleased. When they thought about it that way, a man having another woman on the side suddenly didn’t seem so unforgivable.

After all, nothing in life is perfect. If someone gave them a hundred yuan a month—no, even just fifty—in spending money, on top of not having to do any work, they wouldn’t care if their husbands were running wild and turning the world upside down.

The atmosphere suddenly grew awkward. Fiona Rhodes said hesitantly, "Well... why don’t you meet with your husband first? See if he’s still the same as he used to be?"

"That’s right. If he’s still the same as before—letting you spend whatever you want and not making you do any work—then maybe... you should just hold off for a bit?" Sylvia Swann, who hadn’t spoken until now, chimed in.

’All men are pigs. Take my father-in-law, for example. He was still cheating on the side just a couple of years ago, and my mother-in-law still has to put up with it. What else can she do? Is divorcing and finding another man a guarantee for a better life?’

’My mother-in-law is right. The next guy might have no money and still cheat on you. At least my father-in-law is rich and decent-looking. My mother-in-law doesn’t have to worry about a single thing at home, big or small. She’s lived her whole life that way, and now she’s just learned to accept it.’

"What are you all talking about? ’Hold off’? How can anyone ’hold off’ on something like this?" Phoebe Huxley was annoyed. ’If it were Felix Thorne fooling around out there,’ she thought, ’I’d castrate him myself before walking out with my four kids.’

"Honestly, most men are more or less the same. There are very few good men out there like my second brother," Phoebe Thorne said quietly, revealing what was on her mind. "If Brian Chapman hadn’t withheld his salary from me, I wouldn’t have divorced him either."
