Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling
Chapter 726: That Smelly Man Must Be Divorced
"Rosalind, just tell us. Who was it? We’ll teach her a lesson for you!"
The other women all started talking at once, assuming someone in the village had bullied Rosalind and vowing to stand up for her.
Rosalind’s eyes instantly reddened again, and tears began to stream down her face. The hurt she had bottled up all night finally burst forth under her friends’ concerned gazes.
Everyone was stunned. It seemed she was deeply hurt; they hadn’t seen Rosalind cry in a long time.
"What are you crying for? Just tell us who the bastard is! I’ll go and chop him to pieces right now!" Phoebe Huxley exclaimed, rolling up her sleeves, ready for a fight.
That clueless son of a bitch. They knew Rosalind was under her protection but still had the gall to bully her. Goddamn it, they were showing her no respect.
"It’s not anyone from the village. They’re all very good to me," Rosalind said between sobs.
"Then who was it? Agh... can you just stop crying already and tell us which good-for-nothing bastard did this?" Phoebe Huxley yelled impatiently. She hated all this weeping and wailing. If she and Rosalind weren’t on such good terms now, she would have slapped some sense into her long ago.
Phoebe Thorne tugged on Phoebe Huxley’s arm, afraid her loud voice would scare Rosalind. She could see that Rosalind was truly heartbroken.
Phoebe Huxley pouted. She was just born loud. Even if she tried to muffle it with cotton, her voice would still be this booming. Forcing her to speak quietly was worse than making her a mute.
After everyone’s persistent questioning, Rosalind finally told them what she had overheard the day before. She sniffled and said in a choked voice, "He... has another woman... What should I do?"
Phoebe Huxley slammed her palm on the table and cursed, "Are you stupid? Is there even anything to think about? Divorce the bastard! We’ll find you someone better."
"Exactly! Divorce him! Kick that heartless man to the curb," Fiona Rhodes chimed in, also in favor of divorce. "This is a new era, with equality between men and women. What the hell are you afraid of him for?"
"Rosalind, are you sure about this? Don’t wrongly accuse your husband," Juliana Rhodes said, being more level-headed and not just joining the commotion.
There was a saying: ’It is better to tear down ten temples than to ruin a single marriage.’ Besides, she could tell Rosalind didn’t really want a divorce, or she wouldn’t be so tormented.
"Kenneth said it yesterday. I overheard him. He even said that he and that woman are living together." Rosalind’s eyes reddened again, and a bitter feeling welled up inside her.
She felt incredibly wronged.
All these years, she had remained faithful to him, chaste as jade, and had endured so much hardship with their son. Yet all the while, her husband was out with another woman, not even coming to see them. ’How cruel can he be!’
"Then it must be true. Kenneth wouldn’t get something like that wrong. What does your son think about it?" Phoebe Huxley asked.
"I haven’t asked him. He thinks I don’t know."
Forgetting all about their sewing, the women chattered away, discussing what to do. In the end, it was Juliana Rhodes who came up with a plan. "Rosalind, you should talk to Kenneth. Have him take you to Tristone to see your husband. Whether it’s true or not, you have to find out for sure. What if it’s all a misunderstanding?"
"That’s right. Go see him in person and hear what your husband has to say," Phoebe Thorne added, trying to persuade her.
Rosalind asked hesitantly, "But what if he really does have another woman?"
"Then divorce him! What are you hesitating for?" Phoebe Huxley, frustrated with Rosalind’s indecisiveness, yelled again. "Just think about it! Your man has slept with some vixen, and now he’s covered in her stench. Then he comes back to sleep with you. Don’t you think that’s disgusting?"
Rosalind shuddered. A wave of nausea washed over her. Just the thought of sleeping with him was already unbearable.
The very thought of Ethan Hawthorne being passionate with another woman, kissing another woman, made her feel more nauseous than if she’d eaten a greasy piece of pork. Her stomach churned, and she felt the urge to vomit.
