Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year
Chapter 546: Your Uncle Is Still Your Uncle
“I can.”
Mrs. Fairchild: …
Even Mr. Fairchild, who had been lying there playing a single-player chess game on his phone, sat up straight. He put his phone down and looked at Evan Fairchild.
Zoe Quinn was also stunned for a moment.
Only Evan Fairchild remained completely calm.
“You said it! You’re the one who said it! No take-backs! If you go back on your word, you’re going on a blind date!” Mrs. Fairchild said quickly, afraid Evan would recant.
“I won’t go back on my word,” Evan nodded.
“Good, good, good!” Mrs. Fairchild nodded repeatedly.
‘Finally got a straight answer out of this kid.’
“I’m tired. You all go get some rest. Your father and I have been sick these past two days, and it must have worn you all out.”
“Mom, listen to yourself.” Zoe Quinn took the bowl from Evan’s hands. “You two head downstairs. I’ve had Mrs. Owen prepare dinner. Your brother will be over later to eat with Mom and Dad.”
“Okay.”
Evan and his brother responded in unison.
One after the other, the two left the upstairs room and headed downstairs.
In the living room, Mrs. Owen had already set out tea, snacks, and fruit.
“Have a seat.” Evan Fairchild sat on the single armchair, and Evan sat down opposite him.
“From the sound of it just now, are you planning on getting married?”
“It’s always been part of the plan.”
Evan Fairchild nodded. “She’s the person you’ll spend your life with, so of course it has to be someone you love, someone you choose for yourself. That’s what’s best. Honestly, I don’t think there’ll be any problems if you just let Mom and Dad meet Melody Monroe. If it really comes down to it, just have Melody leave the entertainment industry. See what she’s interested in, send her abroad to study.”
“No.” Evan refused flatly. “She can do whatever she loves. I’ve never once thought about changing her just so she can fit the role of the Fairchild family’s third young mistress.”
Evan Fairchild was taken aback.
“True love, no doubt. But, Melody’s past… doesn’t she have a child born out of wedlock?” Seeing the look in Evan’s eyes darken, Evan Fairchild quickly explained, “I didn’t mean to investigate her. I just wanted to get to know her a little.”
“Is there a difference?”
“I’m sorry.”
“When you meet her, you can say those two words to her yourself.”
“I only know about her and Jedediah Scott. I didn’t look into anything after that. That child…”
“It has nothing to do with you.”
“Have you met this child?”
“Since when did you become such a gossip?”
“I’m your older brother. Is caring about your life considered gossip?”
Suddenly, a boy of about thirteen or fourteen walked in from outside. He was dressed in a trendy, cool style, chewing gum and wearing headphones, bopping along as he walked.
“Liam Fairchild!” Evan Fairchild barked.
Liam Fairchild stopped in his tracks. “Dad, you’re here too! I heard Grandma and Grandpa weren’t feeling well, so I rushed over! I’ll talk to you later, I’m going to go see Grandma and Grandpa!”
“You stop right there!” Evan Fairchild stood up and dragged Liam Fairchild toward the living room.
“Dad, Dad, can you not do this? Can you give me some dignity, please?”
Watching the problem child before him, Evan suddenly thought, ‘My own son is certainly more agreeable.’
Liam Fairchild was struggling, but when he suddenly saw Evan sitting on the sofa, he froze as if petrified and immediately stood up straight, behaving himself.
“Third Uncle.”
Evan nodded. “Mm.”
Evan Fairchild practically had an aneurysm. It seemed that in the entire family, only Evan could handle this rebellious child.
