Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year
Chapter 530: Heartless
Evan Fairchild suddenly leaned in even closer, murmuring, "I’ll make it up to you double later."
"I wasn’t thinking about any ’homework,’ you don’t need to make it up!" Melody Monroe quickly shook her head.
"You don’t even want to do your homework?"
"I don’t!"
"If you don’t want to do your homework, the penalty is doubled. That’s a bad attitude." Evan Fairchild suddenly tightened his grip.
"No." Melody Monroe immediately raised her hands to cover her lips.
Evan Fairchild took her hands, his brow furrowing. "Why are your hands so cold? Let’s warm them up."
He pulled Melody Monroe’s hands inside his shirt.
’So warm!’
Jasper Rockwell suddenly yanked open the door, only to find the two of them in an awkwardly intimate pose by the entrance.
’Suddenly, the lollipop in his mouth didn’t taste sweet anymore.’
’It’s not even cold out. Does standing in the wind feel good or something?’
When he saw Melody Monroe’s hands tucked inside Evan Fairchild’s shirt, it was enough to make his teeth ache.
’In broad daylight...’
"I heard the car a while ago, but you never came in," Jasper Rockwell said.
’Are people in love complete idiots? Has Evan Fairchild’s IQ taken a nosedive too? Standing out in the freezing wind... they’re morons!’
"We were just talking outside," Melody Monroe explained, her face flushing.
"Couldn’t you have talked inside? Come on, Melody, I have something to tell you."
Jasper Rockwell looked up and was met with a death glare from Evan Fairchild.
Melody Monroe glanced from Jasper Rockwell to Evan Fairchild, then gently tugged on the hem of Evan’s shirt. "Jasper is my guest, and he’s staying for dinner. This is the first time we’ve had a guest over at our home!"
Evan Fairchild remained unmoved.
’Jasper Rockwell was genuinely afraid Evan Fairchild was going to throw him out.’
’He wouldn’t even want to come to this dump if Melody wasn’t here! What’s the point? To stare at Evan Fairchild’s stone-cold face?’
"It won’t get in the way of our ’homework.’ Can’t we just do a little extra tonight?" Melody Monroe asked in a small voice.
Evan Fairchild’s expression softened slightly as he led Melody Monroe into the house.
’Jasper Rockwell could feel Evan Fairchild’s disgust for him growing by the second.’
’That heartless bastard!’
’Even if he hadn’t played a pivotal role in Evan Fairchild’s quest to win over his wife, he’d at least put in some effort, right?’
’Now that the guy had a wife and kid and was living the good life, he’d completely forgotten all about their brotherly bond!’
’So what if he wasn’t welcome? He’d just have to come more often.’
’Yes, frequently.’
The group sat in the living room while Auntie Lana bustled about in the kitchen.
Melody Monroe had called her earlier to let her know a guest was coming, so she had prepared quite a lavish spread.
"Dad, just now, this uncle said we should go get a paternity test." Ian Monroe suddenly spoke, dropping a bombshell.
Evan Fairchild’s gaze fell on Jasper Rockwell.
"I—I didn’t mean it like that, I was just kidding! You haven’t had one? I—that’s not what I meant, you don’t need one! Why would you? He’s your spitting image!"
"What did you ask Ian Monroe to call you?"
"Uncle!" Ian Monroe replied instantly.
Jasper Rockwell shot a look at Ian Monroe. ’At that moment, he was absolutely certain Ian was Evan Fairchild’s biological son. No DNA test needed; it was plain to see!’
’That devious, sneaky streak—it was a perfect match.’
’When on earth had he managed to offend this kid?’
"Call me ’Big Brother’! From now on, call me Big Brother! Your dad and I are from different generations, so you can’t just call me whatever. It messes with the hierarchy, right, Uncle Fairchild?"
At Jasper Rockwell’s "Uncle Fairchild," Melody Monroe spat out a mouthful of tea.
Evan Fairchild shot Jasper Rockwell a cold glare. "This is your first and last time visiting."
