Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year
Chapter 452 - 450: A Filial Son
Just then, a heavily injured man walked over to them.
"I’m not too late, am I?"
"Keith Coleman?" Rose Shaw stared at the man in front of her, stunned. If not for his voice, she wouldn’t have even recognized him.
Melody Monroe was even more shocked. ’How did Keith end up like this?’ She hurried forward. "What happened to you?"
"It’s nothing. Just sparred a bit with a friend."
"Sparred? Are you sure you weren’t just on the receiving end of a beatdown?" Rose Shaw asked.
"Of course not!"
"You came all the way from Jansburg this badly injured?" Melody Monroe stepped forward, supporting Keith Coleman, and asked in a low voice, "You’re not here to crash the party, are you?"
"Look at the state I’m in. Do I even have the strength for that?"
Melody Monroe smiled. "Rose, I’ll help Keith find a seat inside."
"Okay. You take care of him. Try not to aggravate his injuries."
"Alright."
Melody Monroe helped Keith Coleman to an empty table and they sat down.
"Was it Mr. Fairchild?"
"I’ll never run my mouth again! Melody, before President Fairchild met you, I suspected he... wasn’t good in that department. I was just being stubborn that day." Keith Coleman’s attitude was now as respectful as it could possibly be.
Melody Monroe burst out laughing.
His face was a mess of black and blue, so swollen he was almost unrecognizable. It was a tragic sight, but she still couldn’t help but let out an uncharitable laugh.
"Seeing Rose get engaged, how do you feel?"
"Not great." Keith Coleman didn’t dodge the question. "Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here."
Melody Monroe poured a glass of water and handed it to Keith Coleman. "You’ve been through a lot. Here, have some water."
"No, no. I’m trying to eat and drink as little as possible right now. Otherwise, the aftermath is agonizing."
Melody Monroe couldn’t help laughing again. One could only imagine how miserable Keith Coleman truly was.
Suddenly, the sound of an argument broke out nearby.
At some point, Mrs. Hughes had apparently gone over to Lana Sheffield.
Right then, Lana Sheffield was looking at Mrs. Hughes with a disgusted expression, her other hand protectively covering her stomach.
"What do you think you’re touching!"
"I just wanted to know how many months along you are."
"How many months along I am is none of your business! Who are you? Do I know you?"
Felix Hughes and Rose Shaw hurried over. "Mom, what are you doing?"
"I... I was just curious and touched her belly. I didn’t expect her to have such a big reaction."
"You..."
"Lana," Christopher Sterling called out.
Lana Sheffield held her tongue and retreated behind Christopher Sterling. Although she didn’t say anything else nasty, she couldn’t resist sniping, "If you’re so fond of other people’s children—tugging at this one, looking at that one, not even letting the one in the womb go—then hurry up and have your Rose Shaw give you one!"
Rose Shaw’s expression stiffened.
When Melody Monroe heard this, she immediately started walking in that direction.
Keith Coleman also scrambled to his feet and followed.
"Mom, Mom! Go back to your seat! Dad, take Mom back."
Mr. Hughes dragged Mrs. Hughes away.
Felix Hughes quickly apologized to Lana Sheffield. "I’m sorry, Mrs. Sterling. My mother meant no offense."
"No offense? Suddenly putting your hand on a stranger’s belly, and you call that ’no offense’? Rose Shaw, what kind of man did you find? Was he so unwanted that you had to be this desperate to get married!"
"Shut up!" Christopher Sterling snapped coldly.
Lana Sheffield was still fuming. She had been startled, and on top of that, someone had touched her belly. How could she possibly be in a good mood?
"I’m sorry, President Sterling, Mrs. Sterling. I’m truly very sorry." Felix Hughes apologized once again.
