Evan Fairchild furrowed his brow. Although he hadn’t heard the full sentence, he did catch the phrase "fictional character." He couldn’t for the life of him figure out what that was supposed to mean.

"What fictional character?" Evan Fairchild asked softly.

"It’s... it’s..." Melody Monroe mumbled incoherently, but before she could explain, she fell asleep in Evan Fairchild’s arms.

"Melody?" Evan Fairchild called out twice, but the girl in his arms didn’t respond.

He couldn’t help but chuckle.

’She’s completely drunk and talking nonsense.’

’So when she said she liked me, was it true?’

’Her saying she likes me... It must be a case of drunk words being sober thoughts.’

’That’s right. That must be it.’

Tommy drove back to the villa.

Evan Fairchild carried Melody Monroe back into the house. Suddenly, Melody woke up, struggled out of Evan Fairchild’s arms, and plopped right onto the floor.

Seeing her sitting on the floor, her little face flushed and a dazed, adorable look on it, Evan Fairchild’s heart was about to melt.

’How could this little thing be so cute?’

He crouched down to her eye level.

Melody Monroe tilted her head as she looked at him, and after a moment, she tilted it the other way, trying a different angle.

"Evan Fairchild?"

"It’s me," Evan Fairchild nodded.

Melody Monroe suddenly reached out and hugged his leg.

She knocked Evan Fairchild to the ground, hugging his leg tightly and refusing to let go.

Tommy, who had just walked in, happened to see this scene and immediately backed out.

"Let’s go to the room."

"No! I don’t want to! I want to hug your thigh! I like you, I want to marry you, I have improper thoughts about you, don’t kill me. I don’t want to die, but I can’t control myself, I just have to like you," Melody rambled on, clinging to his leg.

"What? What did you just say?" Evan Fairchild cupped her small face, making her look at him. "What do you mean, ’kill you’? What are you talking about?"

"Like this!" Melody Monroe suddenly grabbed her own neck. "Do me in!"

Evan Fairchild laughed in exasperation and picked her up. "Stop messing around. Let’s go back to the room so you can rest."

"So you’re not going to do me in?"

Evan Fairchild looked at her adorable face. "How about I make it so you can neither beg for life nor pray for death? Will that do?"

"No! No way! I’m not marrying you anymore! I won’t marry you. Can I just like you in secret then, okay?" Melody struggled out of his arms again, sat on the floor, and hugged his thigh.

Evan Fairchild stood frozen, rubbing the bridge of his nose.

’Where did this misunderstanding come from? Did she really think I wanted to kill her?’

Evan Fairchild tried to pull Melody up, but she just hugged his thigh and wouldn’t let go.

"Let’s go back to the room, and you can hug me however you want, okay?"

"No, I want to hug here! I want to hug your thigh! I just want to hug your thigh!"

Evan Fairchild was left speechless. ’I really, *really* want to tease her!’

"Then answer a question for me."

"Okay," Melody nodded.

"Do you want to marry me?"

"I do! Hehe!"

’Fine, you want to, but what’s with that weird laugh? And... is she drooling again?’

He immediately lifted Melody’s small face and saw that she was having a slight allergic reaction again!

’She must have had too much to drink. Even though Caleb White said it would alleviate the symptoms, it’s not a complete cure! Thankfully, aside from her tongue getting a little stiff, she isn’t having any other reactions.’

"Melody? How are you feeling? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?"

’She’s completely wasted now. She probably doesn’t even realize she’s having a reaction. I bet she can’t even speak clearly anymore.’

He immediately scooped up the woman—who was currently dedicated to her role as his leg ornament—and headed upstairs.
