"Mr. Fairchild..." Melody called out.

Her voice pulled Evan Fairchild from his thoughts. Seeing her hesitate, as if she wanted to say something but couldn’t, he felt a flicker of anticipation. He wondered what she was going to say.

His gaze swept over her.

When he saw she was only in a bathrobe, a flicker of amusement danced in his eyes. ’She actually came over in a bathrobe.’

Melody immediately shut the door and ran off without a backward glance.

He immediately chased after her, only to find that the woman who had just run out the door was turning back. He wanted to hide, but there was nowhere to go, so he could only stand there awkwardly in the living room, trying to look cold and aloof. Melody looked up at him and couldn’t help but smile. Evan pushed her head back against his chest, holding her tightly once more.
