Aurelia Shaw had a nightmare. In the dream, everyone abandoned her, including Mason Nightshade. She tried desperately to catch up and grab Mason’s hand, but her hand passed right through him. Mason gave her a cold smile and stabbed her.

Aurelia Shaw jolted awake, feeling a chill all over her body.

Then she discovered someone crouching on her bed, holding her foot.

Aurelia Shaw’s hair stood on end, and she quickly jumped aside, warily watching Vespera Bennett, the prison’s female boss.

Vespera’s hand remained frozen, still holding Aurelia’s foot. Unfazed by being discovered, she boldly sized up Aurelia Shaw.

Her gaze seemed penetrating, as if it could see right through her clothes.

Aurelia Shaw turned her back to Vespera, dangerously squinting her almond-shaped eyes, "You’ve searched wherever needed last time, haven’t you? You probably searched again while I was bathing. I don’t have anything on me, so don’t waste your time and effort."

Vespera moved closer to Aurelia.

Aurelia raised her eyebrow, "Are you interested in me?"

"Here, you can’t survive without someone supporting you. Did Sophia Evans and her crew give you trouble tonight? They’re rampant here and always get what they want. You escaped them tonight, but there are more snakes in here than just them. Without me, you won’t make it."

"You want me to side with you? Sorry, I’m used to moving alone, not accustomed to joining others." Aurelia replied calmly.

"What if I insist?" Vespera moved closer.

Aurelia swung a punch, but Vespera caught her wrist.

This surprised Aurelia; she didn’t expect Vespera to be so skilled.

While Aurelia was lost in thought, Vespera threw another punch. Her fast, precise moves were definitely professionally trained, each a potential death blow.

Who exactly is Vespera Bennett?

Military? An assassin? Or perhaps someone from the Mafia?

Aurelia easily dodged, grabbing Vespera’s shoulder and pulling her clothing down. A complex, familiar pattern revealed itself to Aurelia’s eyes.

She kicked Vespera in the back, sending her off the bed.

The noise startled the others awake. Little One, frightened, cursed, "Boss, what’s with freaking us out in the dead of night? You two..." Her eyes darted between Aurelia and Vespera.

Vespera, her shoulder still aching, was surprised by Aurelia’s impressive skills.

"Nothing’s up, go to sleep." Vespera glanced at Aurelia and returned to bed.

Aurelia couldn’t fall asleep, staring at the ceiling, her mind replaying the tattoo design on Vespera’s shoulder.

The tattoo matched exactly with those on the people who had kidnapped her many times before. Is Vespera one of them too? Did she happen to run into her here, or was this meeting planned all along?
