Too Late For Regrets: I Sold My Soul To The New Intern
Chapter 79: Resurrected
It was strange.
Waking up in an unfamiliar place had left her confused throughout the night and she felt too weak to even get up and leave.
Her eyes moved weakly as it slowly adjusted to the little light that poured into the large room. Now, she could see bits and parts of it more clearly. It was so dark when she woke up, she feared she had been abducted when she died and taken to some place she couldn’t call for help.
Now, a stranger just walked in and she appeared as nervous as she was.
Corrine blinked again as she sat on the bed, feeling too exhausted to even say anything.
But the bed was so comfortable...the room so warm...someone had changed her into a fresh set of clothes...Corrine thought this was no ordinary kidnapping.
The kidnapper was so kind enough to make her so comfortable in his big den.
Corrine sighed out softly as she tried to understand her situation.
Was she still dead or about to die?
Or she passed out from the fall and was saved quickly and now recovering in this strange place?
But the blood...the pain throbbing at the back of her head and the memory of that fall...Corrine was convinced she couldn’t have been saved or survived such without divine attention.
Then what was all of this?
Was she alive or dead?
If she died...how was she still breathing the same air as the living?
She gasped, staring at all that was around her again in wonder.
But she had been thinking too much all night, the sound of the rain outside the only thing she heard all night as she woke up with this eerie silence that surrounded her and now...even trying to force out answers from her...it hurt her head so much.
She rubbed three of her fingers on it and the demon in the room with her appeared by her side quickly, taking her hands softly as she asked if she was still unwell.
Corrine turned to stare at the girl with strange–looking eyes and very pale skin.
Who was this?
I don’t remember ever meeting her in my first life...
Alveerah stared eye wide at the human who was taking longer to tell her how she felt.
Or maybe she was just too scared and shy like her to say anything. Then she thought of making her feel more at home...but first, through this special mind link all the demons in this building shared together with Azazel...well, except with the prince and some other demons, she contacted Azazel and said in his mind softly.
’’The young miss upstairs is awake and looking very confused.’’
’’Hi,’’ Alveerah said as kindly as she could while settling down on the bed with her. ’’I am Alveerah but you can come me Alve.’’
Corrine blinked, her eyes moving all over the kind female.
’’This is the demon’s tower on earth.’’
T–the...demon what?
Oh no, Alveerah thought the human had been fully informed and introduced of their existence to be worried about freely telling her all these things.
Hell, she was His Highness treasured possession. She shouldn’t have been oblivious about his indentity and powers, right?
’’You have been brought her by His Highness about two days ago when you had that accident and was...’’’
Yes, Azazel said nobody should ever tell her how she was ressurected and the cost of her ressurection. It will not help with the relationship already existing between His Highness and the human, right?
’’Revived by special magic we found in Hell.’’
What?
Corrine blinked at her nonsense talk.
’’It was his Highness himself that brought you back to life with this special magic and brought you here to be protected by all the demons here in this building...’’
Corrine...raised an eyebrow at the girl’s strange words.
’’Don’t worry, you are safe here and no one will cause you harm.’’
Except they want to answer to the serpent of eden...
Corrine couldn’t believe all what this demon was freely telling her without any filter. It felt too much to process all at once in one sitting.
I died and was ressurected by some special magic in Hell....
This happens to be a tower for demons...demons?
And...someone—no, His Highness was the one who brought me here, keeping me protected from whatever he was afraid of.
And who exactly was this His Highness she kept mentioning?
And...
Corrine gulped.
Was he also a demon like the rest of them?
Did I die too hard and got sent back to be taken by some weirdos who think they were demons and Hell and magic exist?
Corrine didn’t need to overthink everything when an image of a pair of ethereal golden eyes flashed before her face again.
She remembered a scene from one of her last moments but didn’t want to conclude just yet that that creep...or weird anomaly was behind all of this.
It was probably different and she needed to get herself far and away from these weird ones so detached from reality.
She still needed to find real answers behind her sudden and strange ressurection.
She still needed to find her people.
She still wanted to fight again and show her father and all his other accomplices that she wasn’t as easy to get rid of as they thought.
She wondered if anyone else was aware that she died and now...well...living again.
’’Feel free to tell me whatever you need and I will be here to provide it all. Your saftey and comfort is my top priority. And I will do whatever I can to serve you until His Highness recovers and return by your side.’’ Alveerah promised genuiely beside the human, while reaching to hold her hands in assurance.
Corrine frowned, now greatly disturbed by the these other weirdo they kept referring to as ’’His Highness.’’
Had she been reborn in some medival timeline or what?
’’Who...do you keep calling that?’’
The answer stepped in himself just when Alveerah was about to open her mouth and answer.
He rushed in looking like he had just covered thousands of miles in one minutes.
Azazel and madam Alove with a few other demons catching up behind him as his golden gaze searched for her frantically until he found her, living and breathing on his bed.
They softened in deep gratitude when she sensed his arrival and turned for the first time to look at him.
’’Your Royal Highness,’’ Alveerah addressed him correctly this time as she moved quickly from the bed and paid her respect to the demon prince.
Azazel rushed in and stood beside his prince, staring at the human like she was some otherworldy object of some miracle. Even madam Alove stared at the human in surpise.
She blinked as she stared at each of them looking at her as if they had been waiting endlessly for recovery.
Who are this people?
She blinked again as she locked eyes with her creep...now dressed much differently than she remembered him to be.
What was...this?
What’s going on?
He took a small step towards her but paused, still in disbelief. He wanted to be sure he wasn’t missing her so much enough to imagine this moment. While he was sleeping, he had imagined and dreamt of this moment a million times. Only to wake up and be disappointed until Azazel spoke in disbelief and said that one thing he has been waiting long enough to hear.
She was awake.
His Anais was back.
He stepped forward, taking his time as he approached her. He fell on one knee beisde her bed, feeling too overwhelmed to say anything.
None of his efforts were put to shame.
He had succeeded in bringing her back to life and now, she was back to spend an eternity with him.
Why was he...what was he...why was he staring at her in that way?
Corrine frowned slighly as she noticed his unsual appearance. Too much gold on him and he looked even better and much more...
She flinched in alarm when he gently held one of her hands. She eyed him brutally while staring down at their joint hand.
Is he out of his mind?
I should have known—oh, why didn’t I think earlier that it could have only been him to have abducted her and kept her bound in this strange place with this strange people.
It was the first time seeing him cry. The tears clouded that beautiful gaze of his and they rolled freely down his cheeks like a river.
Corrine felt too uncomfortable that she had to say something or she will be walking out of this place with half of her mind intact.
’’What happened to you?’’
She said, frowning while giving him this strange look.
She had no idea how hearing her speak again after a long time made him feel.
Like he had been in the dark for a long time and he could finally see faint traces of light ahead.
’’You are making me uncomfortable crying like this before me,’’ She pulled her hands carefully from his.
’’It’s unsightly when you cry.’’
Go cry somewhere else.
He smiled.
Corrine eyes bulged when he moved quickly enough to embrace her tightly.
One hand resting gently at the back of her head.
One secured around her wait as he buried his face deep within the crook of her neck.
And...he cried.
