Too Late For Regrets: I Sold My Soul To The New Intern
Chapter 116: Red Flags 2
’’Anais is human.’’
He repeated, making Azazel’s heart throb in pain and in regret.
How did he let this happen to him?
How did he sit back and watch a mere mortal play games with a royal bloodline of Hell.
’’I don’t care what she is and I won’t tolerate you speculating otherwise and causing her any form of distress.’’
Azazel blinked.
’’Don’t ever underestimate how far I am willing to protect her.’’
The world tilted and Azazel’s eyes glossened with tears.
’’And that means giving you an undignified exit out of the land of the living if I ever consider you a threat to her peace of mind.’’
Azazel...swallowed. His heart breaking as he stared at the face of this cold-blooded monster. Killing his own kind and maiming them just to please a woman who might never even love him.
He was even crazy enough to reignite the blood feud between him and his father by messing or possibly killing the last remaining descendants of that group of reptilians sent out of hell many years ago.
It was complete and utter madness.
It was nauseating to think of and the tears only burned beyond his gaze and far within his mind.
There was no remorse or compassion in his expression.
It was as if he had turned into a completely different person after her death.
As if her demise had changed something in him.
He had become more possessive and he was sure if that seductress really didn’t have any wicked intentions towards their prince...hell, she wouldn’t welcome the kind of love and affection he wanted to give her.
One that was built on the blood and cries of many innocent ones.
No sane woman would mistake this for pure love.
Something that could end up destroying them both.
Azazel sniffed, lowering his gaze as a tear slipped down his cheek. He slowly lowered himself onto his knees before his superior.
His eyes switched to that molten gold color. One that revealed the eyes of the monster inhabiting him.
They fell on the demon kneeling at his feet. Apologising for having the audacity to claim his Anais wasn’t human.
If she wasn’t human, then what would she be?
A demon? A monster like him?
A reptilian?
The serpent eyed him from his head down to his knees. His gaze burning as Azazel brought his hands forward and cupped them together.
’’I sincerely apologise for overstepping my boundaries and for daring to...’’
Azazel could not even believe that he was doing this right now. It brought a painful smile of pity and bitter amusement appearing on his face.
But at this point, if he ever wanted to free his master from her wicked web of control, he had to do whatever he could to live long enough to carry out his goals and plans.
’’For daring to slander and look down on the mistress.’’
Grim hated that word.
The transparent walls to their left cracked. One that terrified the demon kneeling before him.
He turned back to the serpent burning in rage and something else.
Destruction and murder.
His Anais wasn’t his mistress.
But Azazel did not understand what he did wrong or how his apology only made things worse.
’’She is better than any of you,’’ the serpent hissed.
’’Call her queen.’’
What...?
Azazel was only left more speechless than ever before. But his look of confusion didn’t stop or ease the burning look of murder the serpent burdened him with.
Grim looked away briefly as if trying to control his own rage and anger.
Mistress...
Mistress...
That damned word reeled in his mind nonstop.
Was that how they saw her beside him?
His eyes returned to the foul thing before him, trying his best not to bring this whole building down and bury them all with it.
’’She is no one’s mistress or mine,’’ he corrected as more cracks appeared on the walls surrounding them.
’’If you are simply tired of living, let me know and I will put you to rest.’’
’’Don’t you dare ever disrespect her before me ever again or you won’t live long enough to receive another warning.’’
His lips parted.
Grim felt like he had said enough. He had more pressing matters to attend to and the more he looked at him the more he had the urge to transform and separate his head from his body.
He could never be tired to shed more blood, especially the ones that looked down on his heart and feelings.
His woman.
’’Get lost and take what I asked for to my room. I will be gone for three days.’’
Gone?
Going where?
To take vengeance on behalf of a mortal that might never fall in-love with him?
’’Don’t make me come back and find out that she isn’t as I left her with you and under your protection.’’
Grim threatened and Azazel bowed his head before the serpent in understanding.
’’As you wish, Your Greatness.’’
Grim rolled his eyes, his anger still there burning with him.
His mind flickered over the images of his targets, settling on the one who seemed to have caused Anais the most emotional trauma while growing up. And now that his anger was already all-consuming.
He thought that person would be the perfect person to begin his bloody vengeance with.
Grim disappeared and after a while, Azazel stared up slowly. His heart raced when the serpent was no longer with him.
Should he contact Hell or the Phoenix pavillion first about the serpent’s current foolish move?
Azazel stood on one leg as his mind raced through which was the right thing to do at this moment.
It wasn’t news that the devil could be very unforgiving.
He was the total opposite of what the divine beings represented.
Knowing the very thing he hated and detest with all his being was currently going after the demons he planted on earth for his own goals could cause...serious future problems.
Unavoidable ones.
And all for a love that might never be his at the end.
It was stupid. It was reckless. And most importantly...Azazel needed to act now before the young prince invoked the wrath of the devil.
