’’Feisty.’’

’’Angry.’’

’’Sexy...’’

’’Abusive.’’

Corrine frowned at his odd words as she moved over to him with her grip tightening around the bloodied pen. She tried not to overreact when he called her sexy but the heat rising in her cheeks betrayed her. Nevertheless she glared at the slimy beast before her, ready to attack him once again.

Grim followed her movements and blinked.

’’What else?’’

He teased as if waiting for another reason to fall in love with her again. Corrine hated how comfortable he was in this situation and the lack of control she had when she was the victim here.

’’Your head?’’ She said and he blushed. Sighing as if he had just indeed found his perfect match. The one made just for him and no one else.

’’It’s all yours.’’

His eyes moved slowly from her head to her toe and slowly up again and smiled, showing off a bit of his fangs.

’’Come close and take it, Anais,’’ He said like the devil would lure a prey into his trap.

But Anais was far too smart this time to be seduced by it.

She stared down briefly as if trying to figure out what to do. Her hands around the pen clenching and unclenching at the same time. Her murder weapon has proven insufficient to cause him severe injuries. If only she could get close enough to take out one of his eyes...

Her eyes returned to where he was but froze when she could no longer see him.

It was then that Anais felt a chill of fear travel down her spine when she stared at the exact spot she swore he was but he was no longer there.

Hell, he was not to be seen anywhere else again.

She turned to her left and was welcomed by a cool gush of the night breeze. How it managed to slip through the invisible barrier cast around them remained a mystery.

Corrine remained on a spot. Her five senses are alert. Her hands around her insufficient murder weapon tightened. She would react anytime she thought she heard a sinister hiss somewhere behind her...at times close by and eerily just behind her ears.

Corrine gulped as she felt her heart race faster than a galloping horse. But she refused to be intimidated by such petty magic tricks from a shameless cold-blooded demon!

A demon who disregarded personal space and definitely acted like an alien from mars with little to no knowledge about the rules and relations here on earth.

She thought she felt something move behind her but she wasn’t fast enough to catch it before it disappeared.

Corrine then felt the weight and pressure of fear heavily on her shoulder. Although it encouraged her to raise her hand and point the tip of her murder weapon at nothing.

But it was way better to be overly conscious than sorry later.

Her other hand held onto the pen as her eyes moved, scanning every inch and secret place of this overly large space. Her eyes searched for the deadliest thing on earth.

’’I will harm all you love before and after me.’’

He threatened with a low hiss. Corrine felt him behind her and acted quickly, aiming for a perfect hit of his eyes again.

She stabbed nothing but the air. She paused to understand what just happened.

She swore she heard and felt him close behind her just now.

What...

’’Everyone that tries to do less or better than me in your eyes.’’

She moved again and she was right! He was just playing cat and mouse very close to her.

She was this close to driving the tip of the pen into his iris when he grabbed her wrist and pulled her close.

She tried to pull away until he turned her around, bringing the hand he held hostage close to her neck. The pen is close like a sharp blade around her neck.

One of his hands settled firmly around her left hip as he held her close enough to tease the mark he left.

Corrine struggled against him. Each move only made his hold on her hard and not painful but firm enough to keep her in place.

A low hiss behind her ear made every sleeping cell in her body stir awake. His hand moved up slowly from her hip to curve around her waist. And that alone brought a different pleasure...a forbidden satisfaction to be held so intimately and in this way by him.

It weakened her resolve to give him the painful end he deserved.

’’Let go.’’

’’And go where?’’

It took enough of her self control and will to fight back the urge to respond to his caress and sneaky moves up close to her sensitive part. A sinful pleasure settling in every time he moves the tip of his fang teasingly and over his mark.

He gave her no room to escape it.

And it was even harder trying to pretend she didn’t like it.

Corrine turned her head enough to meet with that eye.

The eye of the beast she had once seen in the darkness—the one that had frightened her enough to shatter a mirror and run.

Corrine couldn’t gulp as the beast peered at her from behind the eyeball of his host. It was a paralyzing kind of fear and she would hate for anything to have to confront it face to face again.

Corrine stilled in his hold and Grim gave her a pleased smile.

One that was unintentionally sinister and dark.

’’To let go and go where?’’

Corrine forced down the lump that formed in her throat down enough that it hurt. His eyes locked onto hers before slowly drifting toward her lips.

That alone was enough to make her lips burn with heat and desire.

’’Home.’’ She answered bravely, her voice betraying her in an instant. His gaze returned to her in amusement at her words.

’’Funny.’’

’’I had it burned down a while ago.’’

Corrine...
