Chapter 62

Big News

"Not only are you bringing disgrace to the Femon family, but you are also repeatedly insulting the “Frats” family. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lady “Nafiel Frats,” your fiancée, asks her father to have someone like you killed!" Aria said angrily.

It was clear that she did not approve of Wint’s disrespect towards his fiancée. Perhaps because Aria also had a fiancé, the thought of him behaving like Wint made her furious enough to want to kill this kin right here and now, if only to elevate the Femon family’s honor a bit more!

"Lady Aria, you don’t need to meddle in my actions. I will take responsibility...for everything I do," Wint replied nonchalantly, pretending to step forward as if to shield Ellie from Aria’s gaze, acting like he was protecting the girl behind him. In reality, Ellie thought it was unnecessary.

Wint’s seemingly protective actions only attracted more hatred towards her. His declaration to take responsibility basically confirmed to everyone that he had indeed proposed to her!

This man was beyond help!

"Lord Wint, I think everyone is misunderstanding the situation. Instead of talking about taking responsibility, you should clarify that you did not propose to me," Ellie said loudly to quash the rumors immediately.

Despite this, Wint didn’t cooperate as she expected. Instead, he turned and looked at Ellie seriously.

"You don’t need to worry about this. No matter who disapproves of my intentions, I will use my strength and effort to overcome this obstacle myself!" Hearing this, Ellie felt like she was going to faint.

If Wint had just said, "No, I didn’t propose to you," the matter would have ended. But he didn’t say that; instead, he uttered these ambiguous words. Ellie felt that if she had more strength, she might have lunged forward and pulled his hair out of the way.

How could this annoying fool be the number 1 hero!?

"Disgusting! Absolutely disgusting!" Aria couldn’t tolerate Wint’s unrepentant words. Additionally, she felt she had misjudged Ellie.

Aria had once thought Ellie could be her friend, seeming genuine and clever. But who would have thought it was all a disgusting act? In reality, Ellie was just like other poor people trying to climb their way up, like the many women who deceived her father and tried to bear his children one after another.

Aria truly detested such women!

"I know my actions may upset many people, but I’ve said I’ll take responsibility for this myself. So, if you have any complaints, direct them to me. Just don’t harm Ellie; she’s not involved in this. It was all my decision," Wint said chivalrously.

Such a classic line could have been a sweet love legend if the heroine was being protected by the hero. Many readers would have melted. However, for Ellie, it was a tragic scene. She couldn’t understand if Wint was mentally unstable. How could he speak as if they were a couple?

Who would have thought that after seeing Wint’s foolish actions now, Ellie would recall Aman’s warning? He had advised her to stay away from men like Wint, saying she might catch their stupidity. Now, Ellie felt that this stupidity was indeed spreading to her.

"How dare you say that? She’s not at fault, is she? She’s not at fault for seducing you, right!?" Aria shouted, sparks of flame appearing in her palm.

Seeing things taking a bad turn, instead of explaining the situation, Wint chose to summon his weapons. His sword and shield appeared, and the Femon family’s people were ready to fight!

"Do you think your worthless power can withstand my attack?" Aria said fiercely, the flames in her hand flaring even more. It was evident that Aria had yet to learn how to control her fire power, making it highly unstable.

"They’re fighting! Students from the number one institution are fighting each other!"

"This is a relief camp! Why are students behaving so recklessly!?" People around them began to scatter. Aria’s uncontrolled sparks were hitting scraps of cloth and even some tents, causing damage.

"Get ready!" Aria didn’t just talk; she threw a fireball, which was just a massive concentration of her magic power, forward. Wint quickly prepared to defend himself, confident in his weapons and combat skills.

However, just as the clash was about to occur, potentially causing the fireball to scatter and harm others, a tall figure appeared. His face showed clear signs of displeasure and cruelty, unable to hide it. Aria’s fireball was twisted and dissipated into the air by the newcomer, whose understanding of fire elemental power control was evidently far superior to Aria’s.

This whole incident took only a few seconds. The screams of the crowd fell silent as they saw the frightening face of the newcomer.

"Playtime is over." This stern man could only be Aman, the Demon Hero of the story.

Just a glance at Aria was enough to nearly make the arrogant young woman faint from fear. Aman’s reputation was well-known... Despite how powerful the first son of the Setter family might be, he was believed to be dead. Thus, in the eyes of others, the next leader of the family was this man.

Not only that, but Aman’s past actions had proven how formidable he was. From a young age, he had plotted and successfully killed numerous elders from various families who considered themselves his enemies! Thus, no student wanted to be his adversary.

Aman didn’t care about the others’ reactions. He turned to look at Ellie, who was being overshadowed by Wint’s large frame. Unlike when they were alone, Aman didn’t show any sign of approachable demeanor. He simply extended his hand to Ellie.

"Let’s go," he said, a short phrase with significant meaning.

His actions made people widen their eyes. This evil man was clearly showing his intention to protect Ellie from being bullied by others. Moreover...he pulled Ellie away from behind Wint. What did this mean? Even a fool could understand!

Comparing the dangerous man in front of her to the foolish Wint, who almost brought trouble to her, Ellie didn’t hesitate to take Aman’s hand. Seeing the girl’s compliant behavior, Aman’s previously hardened heart suddenly felt a strange stir.

Ellie had always shown a clear reluctance to get close to him. Aman had always thought Ellie was useful to his brother. However, seeing this different side of the girl made Aman find her interesting.

"Where does the second young lord of the Setter family intend to take Ellie?" Wint frowned in displeasure upon seeing their closeness.

For the past 3 days, he had been chasing after Ellie, who always acted as if she didn’t want him nearby. Suddenly, when Aman appeared, Ellie willingly extended her small hand to him. How could he be pleased with this?

"And why does the son of the Femon family care about what happens between Ellie and me?" Aman replied curtly. In his eyes, Wint was just a foolish and pretentious man.

Aman couldn’t allow someone like Wint, who made woman uncomfortable and acted oblivious to it, to stay close to Ellie.

"Because I want to protect Ellie. I have sworn to myself that I will not let her face any danger. So, if you intend to use your status as the second young lord of the Setter family to bully her, I won’t let you have that chance." Wint still viewed himself as the hero in a novel. His words were perfect indeed, but they were not what Ellie needed to hear.

"You want to protect her? In what capacity?" Aman straightened his posture, glancing at Wint with disdain.

"I have sworn that I will protect her and be her partner, looking after her for life."

"Oh...so these are just your words, right?" The higher-ranking man laughed before easily knocking the sword out of Wint’s hand.

Wint’s strength was the only thing he prided himself on, so it was no surprise he was shocked when it was suddenly so easily overcome.

"Don’t cause Ellie unnecessary distress. She has told me many times that you make others misunderstand. Besides...the one who will protect her for life is someone from the Setter family, not you...not the Femon family!"

Hearing Aman’s declaration, everyone around realized they were witnessing an even bigger revelation of the institution! Initially, they were only gossiping that the Setter family was overly interested in Ellie, speculating whether she might be the evil demon Lord Aman’s lover. But no one expected this to be true.

Who didn’t know the stature of the Setter family!? And who was Ellie? Just a girl from a small village in the Set City overseen by the Setter family. How could she become the future lady of the Setter family? But these words came from Aman’s mouth himself!

If a direct descendant from any other family had said such things, they would have thought it was a joke. Even if a noble actually took a village girl as a wife, she would likely be just a bed-warming servant, and her children would be considered illegitimate. But with Aman, things were completely different.

This man never did what others expected. If he declared that the sky would be orange tomorrow, the sky would turn orange! So, if he said he would make a woman the lady of the Setter family, why would it be impossible!?

And when compared to Wint, who was merely the illegitimate son of the Femon family, even a 2-year-old would know which side to choose as a partner. Although Aman seemed intimidating, that was just the word of the people. Otherwise, how could a terrifying person like him receive letters from matchmakers repeatedly invited to various families?

In the end, who wouldn’t want to establish relationships with the Setter family? And who wouldn’t want to ally with a smart man like him!?

"Lies. Ellie would never say that to you." Wint was so shocked. How could he believe that Ellie would speak about him like that to others? How could she say he was bothersome!?

"You’re the one lying to yourself," Aman retorted. Wint looked at Ellie in disbelief, but the girl didn’t let Aman’s help go to waste.

"From now on, don’t bother me anymore," Ellie said directly to Wint, which greatly pleased Aman.

If he stood up for her this much and Ellie still felt obliged to others, he might have had to resort to harsher measures. Fortunately, Ellie hadn’t caught Wint’s stupidity.

"You...no way," Wint was confused. Even though Ellie’s words had been the same for the past 3 days, hearing her say this with Aman by her side made him feel particularly displeased.

"If you keep bothering Ellie, don’t say I didn’t warn you! And you...the Young Lady of Femon, if I hear that you intend to harm someone important to the Setter family, I won’t let you off either," Aman threatened not only Wint but also extended his cruelty to Aria.

The young woman trembled slightly when she saw his gaze. Aman didn’t stay to listen to any more nonsense; he simply took Ellie’s rough hand and left amidst everyone’s stares.

As the strong man’s back disappeared, everyone was still in a state of shock. Many chose to remain silent to reflect on what had happened, while others seemed to have lost their composure entirely.

However, the person most infuriated by this situation was undoubtedly Wint. He had been harshly rebuked by the direct young lord of the Setter family. Of course, Wint never realized how annoying he was. He only thought that Aman could suppress him because Aman was a direct young lord, while he was an illegitimate son.

Ellie choosing to follow Aman was for this reason as well. Wint clenched his fists tightly, swearing to himself that he would win Ellie back and become much stronger in the process.

"Damn Ellie! Why do you get everything!?" Muttered a woman who had been hiding and watching the situation unfold. Her voice was low, but the murderous intent was clear.

It was Nara. After hearing rumors that Wint had been pursuing Ellie for the past 2-3 days, she had tried to draw his attention back to herself. However, Wint chose to ignore her and waited for Ellie for hours.

Typically, students’ tasks ended 2 hours earlier, but it seemed Ellie was either busy or trying to avoid Wint, as she often left 2 or even 3 hours later. Sometimes, Wint skipped dinner just to wait for Ellie.

Nara wanted to stop his actions, but Wint kept saying that he had chosen to follow Ellie and would dedicate his life to her alone. As a result, no matter what Nara did, Wint didn’t give her any attention.

Originally, today, she planned to bring Wint back to his senses after he got seriously injured by Lady Aria and his fiancée. Nara intended to show concern to regain his interest and have him protect her like he did with Ellie. Unfortunately, everything went wrong.

Not only did Wint not get to fight, but the situation was also stopped by an important member of the Setter family!

Nara now realized that the reason Ellie seemed uninterested in Wint was that she had a more powerful golden connection to hold!

Why...why was it Ellie, who was not outstanding? Why...the one that caught the interest of the young lord of the Setter family, and the one that this foolish Wint chose to follow, wasn’t her!?
