The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth
Chapter 272 - 174: Land of Decay, Trouble Comes Knocking
’My fundamentals are still too weak. My research into Particle Energy isn’t very deep.’ Wang Ya thought for a long time, then shook his head with a feeling of helplessness.
His twenty years in the Dark Land had, however, made him exceptionally skilled at raising living creatures, the cultivation of Magical Plants, and conducting Wizard Experiments.
Next came his research as a Dream Wizard and the creation of new Witchcraft.
His abilities as an Elemental Wizard were his weakest.
Speaking of Magical Plant cultivation, something was wrong with the Blood-sucking King Vine. It had not completed its transformation within three years as Wang Ya expected. In contrast, Harak’s Dream Infinite Genome had already finished its fusion, yet the Blood-sucking King Vine’s transformation was still incomplete.
There wasn’t much Wang Ya could do about it.
His Eye of Truth had observed that the Blood-sucking King Vine’s State was stable. The only thing to do was wait.
’Looks like my only option is to figure something out at the Black Sun Ruins. The legacy of a Black Sun Wizard is bound to contain the relevant Extraordinary Knowledge.’ Wang Ya’s eyes flickered. After all, this was the legacy of a suspected Level 2 Wizard, or maybe even a Level 3 Wizard. All he needed was something to shore up his weak fundamentals.
The night passed uneventfully.
The morning sun struck Wang Ya’s fair cheeks. He opened his eyes, his gaze falling upon the land below.
It was a vast, rolling mountain range, covered in a dense tangle of ancient forests. The occasional roar of a beast was proof that the area was teeming with Vitality.
Harak, perched on Wang Ya’s shoulder, let out a low, vibrating hum—a sound of both apprehension and excitement. It meant there was a Beast King Level Extraordinary Creature nearby.
High-tier Extraordinary Creatures were barely enough to help Harak improve anymore. The most delectable meal, of course, would be a Beast King of its own level.
The Flying Griffin’s speed slowed slightly. Kaze Antuun had woken up as well. He took a map from his Wizard’s Ring, studied it for a moment, and finally confirmed their position.
"We’re in the Land of Decay’s sphere of influence. Another half-day and we should reach Licorice Camp. It’s an unclaimed Separation Land." Kaze Antuun stopped himself, putting the map back into his Wizard’s Ring as his eyes turned cold and gloomy.
"I think we have a bit of trouble," Wang Ya said, raising an eyebrow and staring into the Void below.
From between the drifting clouds, a figure in a Wizard Robe shot straight up, pursued by another. Both had used some form of biological grafting Witchcraft, sprouting wings from their backs that allowed them to fly.
The one in front was in a wretched state, covered in blood, and was struggling just to keep flying with their grafted wings.
The pursuer’s eyes glinted with killing intent, their aura was unstable, and they wore the uniform Wizard Robe of the Land of Decay.
Both had clearly expended a great deal of Particle Energy.
Wang Ya instantly pieced together the situation. It was probably a Wizard Task from the Land of Decay, with the pursuer being an official Wizard sent to complete it.
When the two pursuing Wizards saw the pair of Flying Griffins, they froze for a second.
The fierce battle and their own chaotic auras had clearly left them with no spare Extraordinary Spiritual Power or attention to survey their surroundings.
For a moment, the atmosphere grew strange.
The fight between them halted, and they hovered in mid-air. The official Wizard from the Land of Decay glanced at his target, then over at Wang Ya and Kaze Antuun.
This was all a little too coincidental.
His target had flown in this direction, only for two Wizards of unknown identity and Power to suddenly appear.
Flying Griffins were common and not exclusive to the Dark Land.
The Land of Decay had plenty of Wizard Cities that raised Flying Griffins, and even capable Wild Wizards would purchase one if they could afford it.
Wang Ya, wearing his Black Mask, broke the strange silence. He gave a wave with his right hand. "Hey there. We’re just passing through."
The two Wizards: "..."
Kaze Antuun snorted coldly, and a terrifying pressure instantly enveloped the two Wizards.
The pressure instantly knocked both Level 2 Wizard Apprentices unconscious.
"Any issues with a True Sight Ball?" Wang Ya asked.
Kaze Antuun used his Extraordinary Spiritual Power to catch the two falling Wizards. He replied slowly, "They’ll be asleep long enough for us to reach Licorice Camp."
