the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart
Chapter 1548 - 1535: The Wedding of the Century
Constantine Stewart saw her nurturing herself at home these days; her skin became more transparent and dazzling under the sun, making his heart itch for her, no longer remembering to be cold towards her. He only found Finnian to be an eyesore, wishing he could quickly drive him away so he could coax the young woman, holding her in his arms for more kisses.
This period of enforced abstinence for the man had been quite arduous, and as the first three months passed, Mr. Stewart thought he could try something different.
Finnian, upon hearing that Constantine Stewart planned to meddle in matchmaking and randomly assign a woman to him, almost sprayed out a mouthful of tea and stood up with a laugh, saying, "I can’t afford to provoke, can’t afford to provoke; since Mr. Stewart is here, I’ll head back first."
After saying this, Finnian gracefully stood up, patted his derrière, leaving space for the couple, estimating that if he lingered any longer, Constantine Stewart would be sharpening his knife.
Once Finnian left, the man reached out to hold the young woman in his arms, his expression slightly darkened as he said, "Chloe Winston, has your courage grown? Driving alone out there? Do you know there’s another inside you?"
Constantine Stewart only reprimanded her so sternly during her teenage years, but over the last year, every time he spoke it was more gently. Chloe, being more sensitive after pregnancy, felt he had become increasingly fierce, causing her eyes to redden instantly and her face to flush with grievance, unable to speak.
Seeing this, Constantine Stewart instantly stiffened up, hiding his panic inside, though his face remained calm. The man who upheld high standards for decades sighed softly, taking the young woman into his arms, gently kissing her reddened eyes, and hoarsely said, "I’m sorry. I was just startled. I shouldn’t have been fierce with you."
Constantine Stewart had been busy with early mornings and late nights arranging wedding matters these days. Though knowing he shouldn’t keep her cooped at home, subconsciously he wasn’t keen on seeing her go out, especially not wanting her to meet those who once adored her.
Chloe gave a cold snort, considering how despite his flexibility, she suffered the scolding without merit.
Thinking of this, she reached out to pinch the man’s handsome cheek, making it flush red, presenting a pitiful look worthy of punishment on which to vent her anger and tally accounts.
"Mr. Stewart, did I write a ten-thousand-word reflection at home yesterday? Did I throw tantrums, being picky and refusing to eat the day before yesterday? Am I grounded today for three days because of you?" She squinted, maintaining a forced smile while asking.
Constantine Stewart’s heart sank instantly. Damn, those blabbermouths! They are truly bringing doom upon themselves.
"No, it’s me who has to write a reflection at home today. It’s me being grounded for three days to accompany Chloe Winston. It’s me not listening to Chloe Winston." Mr. Stewart revealed his signature gentle smile, his demeanor civil and accommodating, a man who knows to bend and yield, settling down with his wife first.
He knew Chloe Winston’s usual temperament—calm as a cat, gentle as a rabbit—yet if her temper flared, he’d have to end up sleeping on the couch tonight.
Chloe chuckled, realizing how quickly he admitted his wrongdoing.
"Constantine Stewart, I really didn’t realize, how are you so vain? Establishing your authoritative position as head of the household makes you feel so comfortable?"
Constantine Stewart coughed lightly in embarrassment. It wasn’t vanity, perhaps a bit pathological—enjoying managing her, favoring sweet, obedient girls. Raising and pampering a young wife, a feeling of both daughter and spouse was quite stimulating, especially in bed, just thinking about it made his blood boil.
But these sentiments were something Constantine Stewart would never tell the young woman.
"Yes, I indeed feel vain, I accept criticism and correction." Mr. Stewart looked at the delicate, white-skinned young woman with deep eyes, exuding masculine charm.
Under his intense and unrestrained gaze, Chloe Winston’s heart wavered instantly.
Damn, he actually used his attractiveness as a tactic!
She reached out to pat the man’s shoulder, speaking with heartfelt sincerity, "Fix this well in the future."
Since then, Constantine Stewart no longer dared to boast in small circles. After a few days, Chloe received a wave of praises; Alaric Howard happily shared a message and even specially commissioned a famous calligrapher from Imperial City to write four words for Chloe, framing them particularly—"Eradicate Evil for the People."
Regrettably, when the letter arrived at the Fulham Road villa, it was tossed into the garbage by Constantine Stewart with a blank face, subsequently blacklisting Alaric. That’s a story for later.
A month passed, and Chloe Winston surpassed the first three months of pregnancy. With the fetus stable, she nervously approached her first wedding.
She was somewhat idle every day, while the busy one was Constantine Stewart.
Leah Squire, due to impending labor, went early to the hospital for delivery, therefore would likely miss the wedding due to timing conflicts.
Ignatius Leclair and Delphine found it timely to return home to attend the wedding, and celebrate the Shaw Family welcoming their second child.
As the Leclair Family’s four treasures had grown a bit beyond sprouts, they were in a playful phase, prompting the couple to decide on a longer vacation stay in Nanyang with the little ones.
Constantine Stewart personally managed the wedding; Chloe Winston chose the gown, accessories, and bridesmaids, while most other decisions were made by Constantine Stewart.
Chloe Winston had few industry friends, inviting Lana Shaw, Calliope Shaw, and Wendy Starling as bridesmaids, while there were more options for groomsmen—Finnian and Desmond Wood were included, along with Charles Taylor. Of course, this suggestion came from Constantine Stewart.
Having former rivals serve as his groomsmen stunned everyone instantly, even eliciting a thumbs-up from Ignatius Leclair—such a cunning and ruthless stroke, invisible but lethal. Bold move!
Thus, everyone once again renewed their understanding of Constantine Stewart’s petty nature.
The wedding was held in Imperial City, only hosting notable families and industry friends privately, not open to the media. The day catered to elders with a formal ceremony, while the night featured a cruise party for young people.
For this reason, Constantine Stewart specially acquired a brand new cruise ship and prepared for two months, intending to gift it to Chloe Winston as a wedding present.
Even though the wedding wasn’t publicly revealed, the media still caught wind of it.
Three short months after Mr. Stewart announced his marriage to Chloe Winston saw the wedding, not only attracting attention in Imperial City but stirring a sensation across the Entertainment Sector.
Every media outlet competed to report, and directors and actors who had worked with Chloe sent their congratulations; fans, thrilled that the Winter Glow couple finally came together, cheered especially knowing that former show members Charles Taylor and Desmond Wood would attend as groomsmen, invoking ecstatic screams.
The Countess Thompson from France also expressed her attendance at her son’s wedding, with the Earl planning to accompany her, along with a mysterious guest coming to congratulate them. French aristocracy and celebrities also sent well-wishes, instilling envy, making attending the wedding an honor.
Unlike Richard Shaw’s understated ceremony, the wedding of Constantine Stewart and Chloe Winston could undoubtedly be called a wedding of the century.
