the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart
Chapter 1547 - 1534: Leaving Home in Anger
Ever since Constantine Stewart got married and his wife got pregnant, he joined the daily "dog abuse" trio.
Ignatius Leclair is always showing off his kids, while Richard Shaw is steady and low-key, only acting like a wife’s servant behind closed doors, never going against her wishes. Constantine currently doesn’t have any kids to show off, so he shows off his wife daily.
The difference with him, however, is that Mr. Stewart boasts about not being a wife’s servant.
So, in their private chat, the daily banter goes like this.
Ignatius Leclair: "Spring is here, and the wisteria flowers on the roof are in full bloom. My wife praised me today. Our fourth child kissed me today."
Richard Shaw: "Leah is about to give birth, I’m so anxious, I can’t sleep at night."
Alaric Howard: "Can’t you stop showing off?"
Balthazar Howard: "My eyes are blind now."
Constantine Stewart: "I’m checking my wife’s homework, don’t have time for you guys."
Everyone: "Damn, that’s crazy."
Constantine Stewart: "My wife was disobedient today, so I punished her by not letting her out for three days."
Everyone: "..."
Constantine Stewart: "My wife was picky with her food today, I’m very angry, currently conducting home education."
Everyone: "Old Kirk, you’re full of it. We’ll come see your education tomorrow."
Ignatius Leclair: "An idiot. History tells us that those who oppose their wives meet bad ends."
Over time, everyone felt a bit sorry for Constantine Stewart’s little wife.
Chloe Winston, being oblivious, focused on her pregnancy and the fact that her starring film was selected for an international film festival. According to Kyla Zamora, this film could be considered her breakout, critically acclaimed work, and it’s expected to make waves at various domestic film festivals at the end of the year, making it a success on both the career and marriage fronts.
This kind of achievement is quite outstanding for someone who only graduated this year.
In the past, Chloe Winston was desperate to earn money due to being poor, to find a way to live. Now that she’s remarried to Constantine Stewart, who takes care of everything for her, giving her properties worth billions. Starving to death is no longer a concern, so her desire to earn money isn’t as strong. She plans to take a year off, hold a wedding, then resume acting after giving birth and recovering.
So, this year has been leisurely, with a good pace, and Chloe Winston is quite satisfied.
Aside from the outside rumors.
"Miss Winston, I heard you’re writing a self-reflection at home today?"
"Miss Winston, are you grounded at home?"
"Miss Winston, are you being picky with your food again?"
Just like the men, the women also have a small group of girlfriends. Initially, Chloe Winston tried explaining herself a couple of times, but the more she did, the more everyone just laughed and said nothing, telling her not to spoil her man. Only then did Chloe Winston realize that Constantine Stewart was spreading rumors outside again.
In April, as the weather warmed, Chloe Winston thought that the roses in Spring Prosperity Garden must have fully bloomed. Plus, with Constantine Stewart tarnishing her reputation outside every day, Chloe Winston angrily went back to her family’s home.
Since returning to her villa on Fulham Road in February, Chloe hasn’t been back for more than a month. The housekeeper would send someone to take care of things here and maintain cleanliness.
As the weather warmed, afternoons were sunny, and it was a weekend, so people of all ages were sitting outside in Spring Prosperity Garden enjoying the sun.
Upon her return, Chloe Winston ran into many familiar faces and was pulled into conversations. Almost everyone asked about her and Constantine Stewart’s marriage, saying they would give red envelopes for the occasion.
She truly didn’t expect that the residents of the Official Residence would be so gossipy, even following her and Constantine Stewart’s Weibo.
When she returned home, indeed, it was as expected—the garden was full of blooming roses, with pink flowers, green leaves, and vines climbing up the walls of the second floor, creating a three-dimensional aerial garden, stunningly beautiful. After a year of effort, the house finally looked splendid.
Chloe Winston felt she didn’t want to return to the villa on Fulham Road. Although this house was more of a quaint, fresh style, not as luxurious and grand as the other one, it was her creation, and she felt a deep connection to it.
Chloe Winston looked around and then moved a lounge chair to sit in the small garden to bask in the sun. It hadn’t been long before Finnian came over, carrying lots of snacks and freshly washed fruits.
"I just heard that you came back and wanted to check in." Since it was spring and a sunny afternoon, Finnian wore just a light knit sweater and casual trousers, looking quite comfortable and elegant. Seeing Chloe Winston lazily lying on the lounge chair in the sun, and with Constantine Stewart not around, Finnian joked, "You’re brave to go running around and come back without telling anyone."
His tone was very affectionate, like a caring neighborhood brother.
Finding out Chloe Winston had remarried Constantine Stewart, Finnian felt quite disappointed, a bit regretful, yet happy for her. The transition of roles was seamless.
"I suddenly felt like coming back, so I did. At the gate, I was almost eaten up by enthusiastic neighbors," Chloe Winston said with a smile, gesturing for him to sit down.
Finnian brought over the afternoon tea and fruits, placed them on a small table, and sat opposite her, both enjoying the sun and catching up on life.
Since her travel last year, they hadn’t really talked much, which had been about half a year now.
When Constantine Stewart arrived, he saw his little wife enjoying a lively conversation with his former rival. The girl was smiling brightly, her eyes gleaming like fragments of light, warmed by the lazy sun, sweet and beautiful, only the person opposite her wasn’t him. The man’s handsome face darkened.
Finnian first noticed Constantine Stewart’s arrival, smiling and greeting him.
Chloe knew the housekeeper would inform him about her going out, but she hadn’t expected Constantine Stewart to arrive so quickly. Recently, he had been leaving early and coming back late, very busy, so Chloe couldn’t be bothered to deal with him.
"Mr. Wood, you seem around my age? Still unmarried, don’t your family nag you?" Constantine Stewart smiled with a thick face, shamelessly squeezing next to Chloe, not coaxing the little lady in front of outsiders, deciding to give her the cold shoulder to teach her a lesson for running off.
So, Mr. Stewart is really something, even worried about an old rival’s marriage? Finnian chuckled, "My family is very traditional, they do nag, but matters of the heart are about fate, they can’t be forced."
Finnian lived a carefree life, mainly because of his strong background, whereas Desmond Wood was being pressured into marriage quite a bit.
"I remember Desmond Wood is in the Entertainment Sector, although it’s chaotic, there are still good girls. Recently, Miss Starling came to see you, and she’s single, isn’t she?" Constantine Stewart looked at Chloe, having sat for a while without receiving a single glance from the little lady, making the man feel inexplicably nervous.
Both Chloe Winston and Finnian widened their eyes. Wendy Starling and Finnian? What a joke! Chloe thought for a moment, realizing Wendy did have a liking for gentle, fair-skinned men and had once mentioned in front of her that a diplomat was better than Constantine Stewart.
Chloe thought it might be plausible but still didn’t want to engage with Constantine Stewart, lowering her eyes and keeping silent, her long eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings, inexplicably pure and enchanting.
