the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 1544 - 1531: This Person’s Level Is Too High

Constantine Stewart noticed servants on the side, and Chloe Winston was only just a month pregnant and still in the Shaw Family home, which reassured him enough to follow Richard Shaw downstairs.

After the man left, Chloe stuck out her tongue at his tall and commanding figure, muttered a few things to herself, then gave Leah a sweet smile and said, "Leah, don’t mind him. Ever since I got pregnant, he’s been acting all quirky."

Leah’s appetite wasn’t poor; being seven months pregnant, her body was already a bit heavy, and she ate a relatively bland diet. Richard Shaw had been sourcing domestic and international cuisines, even finding homemade perilla plums from the countryside, hoping she’d eat a bit more.

Leah finished the soup in a small cup, wiped the corner of her mouth, and said with a smile, "You should be content. Your Constantine is so much more considerate than our Richard. Anything you think or don’t think of, he’s already thought of for you."

The topic quickly shifted to complaining about Richard Shaw.

Chloe was taken aback and said, "Vice Admiral Shaw is excellent, Leah. In your home, everything’s up to you, but in my home, Constantine treats me like a kid."

"Pfft, don’t be envious. I just adore our honest and straightforward Richard. As for you, only someone as sharp as Constantine can handle you," Leah laughed and bantered with Chloe, feeling her appetite improve somewhat.

"I have a lot of plum and fruit snacks here; when you head back, take some with you. In a few months, you might experience pregnancy cravings, and these will whet your appetite," Leah said. She had experienced morning sickness herself and was looking forward to giving birth in three months, vowing not to have another afterward.

"Alright," Chloe nodded. She wasn’t too interested in nutritious meals, but having just become pregnant and with Constantine being so strict, she was quite anxious herself. Being able to eat some appetizing fruits was just perfect.

After eating, the two women chatted on the second floor, and before they knew it, an hour had passed. Constantine and Richard came up without them noticing.

"Did they leave?" Leah asked Richard lightly.

"Yes. Lana wanted to come up, but she didn’t want to disturb your rest, so they left," Vice Admiral Shaw approached. His stern demeanor softened instantly upon seeing his lovely wife. He went over to support her, leaning back on the sofa.

Leah nodded, poked Richard, and with her beautiful eyes narrowing, quietly asked, "Does Lana really like this Caspian?"

"Yes. The Yarn family’s parents came with Lana’s parents, and it all looked very official. They even discussed the dates," Richard’s voice was deep. As he glanced at his petite wife, he then looked over at Constantine, who was conversing with Chloe, and pondered, "Is there something wrong with Caspian? Why do you and Constantine dislike him?"

Leah just smiled without saying a word.

Chloe, next to them, was also surprised and said, "Mr. Yarn seems quite witty and humorous. His manners are gentlemanly, he looks good, and his family background is decent. He even bought a villa in Imperial City to be their wedding home. Seems pretty good to me."

Constantine, listening on the side, lightly squinted his eyes and flicked his slender, fair fingers on the girl’s forehead, displeasedly saying, "Why does it sound like you’re saying he’s even better than your husband?"

"Great, now he’s jealous," Leah teased with a smile.

Chloe was dumbfounded, seeing the refined and gentle expression of the man’s face darken. Why is Constantine so jealous? Can’t she honestly compliment another man?

"Even though you’re in the entertainment sector, someday someone might sell you and you’d still help them count the money," Constantine remarked, seeing her wide, innocent eyes gazing straight at him, with her petite face blooming like a flower. His anger vanished as he pinched her cheek, maintaining a stoic expression, "Caspian has quite a high level of skill; it’s no wonder you guys can’t see through him."

"What do you mean?" Richard frowned.

"Ask your wife; I only learned about this person today," Constantine tossed the question to Leah Squire.

Leah, leaning on the sofa, casually said, "I had someone investigate Caspian. He has a fiancée back home in Seacoast, from a very reputable family. The young lady reportedly is quite beautiful. It was around last year when Miss Chase left a letter and eloped with someone, naturally terminating the engagement between the Chase and Yarn families. The Chase Family Head, longing for his daughter day and night, suffered a heart attack and passed away despite rescue efforts. Relatives of the Chase family came to divide the estate, leaving almost nothing. It was still the Yarn family, remembering past affection, who funded the funeral and gained a good reputation."

Constantine raised an eyebrow at her words, with a smile that was almost mocking, and said, "Sounds like quite an honorable family."

Leah continued, "Caspian was reportedly downcast for a while. He came to Imperial City for a seminar, met Lana, and they fell in love at first sight. Today, the Yarn family came to visit our home.

Over in Seacoast, we can’t reach that far, nor can we investigate clearly in a short time, and if the other party has been meticulous, it’s not easy to find out either. The timing just seems coincidental, with the Chase family falling into decline, the Yarn family gaining a good reputation, ending an engagement, and connecting with a high family in Imperial City.

But Lana seems to really like Caspian. Women are always blinded by love, and without evidence, I can’t bring it up."

"Constantine, have you noticed any other issues?" Richard asked Constantine again.

Constantine smirked with a slightly cold smile and said, "Caspian might be a fan of Chloe’s. He glanced at Chloe several times during the banquet, and he didn’t seem like someone who is hopelessly in love."

Constantine always held grudges, especially against those coveting his young wife. If not for respect toward the Shaw Family, he would’ve coldly thrown the person out on the spot.

Chloe was rather stunned by all this; she hadn’t even noticed.

"I’ll handle this. I’ll send someone to Seaside to investigate and find that girl from the Chase family," Richard said coldly. Over the years, as his power grew, the thought of someone plotting against the Shaw Family ignited a murderous intent within him.

"Alright. Then we won’t interfere in this matter. I’ll take Chloe home first," Constantine said, taking the naive little girl home for some warmth.

After all, it’s a matter for the Shaw Family to resolve. They’d better head home and focus on their own growing family.

Chloe, having listened to the night’s gossip, felt a bit thrilled. Thinking about that young gentleman from the Yarn family, whose manners and speech were all extraordinary, she was surprised at how much Constantine had deduced with just a few glances. Her admiration grew, and she sweetly asked, clinging to Constantine’s arm, "Constantine, you’re amazing. Since you chose me, that makes me even more amazing, right?"

Mr. Stewart couldn’t help but rub his forehead, looking at his innocent little wife, suddenly wanting to kiss her. Recalling Chloe’s cool and heroic image on variety shows before, it seemed evident she was putting on a façade for the world while inside, she was just an adorably naive bunny.
