Eastern Battlefield of the Medusa Mountain Range
***
The battlefield was chaotic when suddenly a massive explosion tore through the mountains on the eastern side of the mountain range.
Part of a mountain collapsed, and through the smoke, two figures emerged simultaneously: Thesira and Seryn. Both moved so quickly that they disappeared from the observers’ sight again.
Metallic sounds rang out as Thesira’s sword collided with Seryn’s long, sharp claws.
The impact produced a wave of spiritual energy that sent rocks and corpses flying in all directions. Seryn twisted her body, dodging a lethal strike, and her claws passed across Thesira’s face.
The Elder tilted her head at the exact moment the claws passed through a small strand of her serpentine hair, which hissed as it flew to the other side.
At the same instant, Thesira made a spinning leap, and her sword struck Seryn’s abdomen in midair in a surreal movement.
The Beastwoman’s spiritual energy partially blocked the blow, but even so, the Elder’s blade was able to open a cut across the Beastwoman’s body, causing dark blood to flow from the wound.
Seryn immediately retreated, but Thesira did not pursue her right away. Her beautiful light-green eyes swept across the chaotic battlefield for a fraction of a second, and beside them, another battle was taking place.
Draven advanced against Lyssara, the young Medusa. His heavy spear descended vertically, causing a thunderous impact. Lyssara blocked it with her sword.
The impact was so powerful that it drove the young Medusa’s feet into the ground. Despite the initial impact, she did not retreat. She spun into a somersault, her blade deflecting the spear to the side.
Draven lost his balance for only a fraction of a second, but it was enough for the young woman to find an opening. Lyssara quickly advanced, her sword sweeping horizontally.
Draven tilted his body, and the blade passed across his chest, opening a deep cut in his armor. He immediately responded with a thrust.
Lyssara twisted her body, and the tip of the spear passed through her arm, causing a cut and making blood flow.
Despite the pain, her expression did not change. When her foot touched a rock, she used it as support and launched herself upward. Her sword descended bravely.
Draven raised his spear, anticipating the attack. The collision produced another explosion, sending the two of them flying in opposite directions.
Lyssara landed on a rocky formation, while Draven landed several meters below. Both stared at each other.
"You possess good skills, but it is obvious from your profound spiritual energy that you only reached this level recently. Because of that, I will finish you before you become a problem in the future."
Lyssara tightened her grip on her sword.
"If you have the skills to deal with me, then come forward. We’ll see who will be defeated when your head rolls at my feet."
"Keep dreaming, Medusa. I’ll show you what a tenth-level Profound Nascence cultivator is capable of."
With that, his spiritual energy exploded from his body.
The two moved rapidly, their figures colliding in midair above the battlefield filled with scattered corpses.
CLANG!
The spear struck the sword.
Immediately afterward, a wave of energy destroyed part of the rocky formation, and the two disappeared again.
Above them, Thesira and Seryn continued fighting. Seryn advanced, using the full strength of her body as her claws became covered in a layer of spiritual energy.
Thesira raised her sword.
The first claw struck, then the second and the third struck the ground as Thesira disappeared in a step that combined speed and agility.
Thesira’s sword cut through a rocky formation behind the Beastwoman. Fortunately, Seryn had retreated at the last instant.
The Beastwoman took advantage of the opening after the attack. Her body disappeared, but Thesira was able to sense her presence behind her.
Even so, it was already too late.
Seryn’s claws tore through her skin, causing blood to flow. Thesira merely gritted her teeth, but instead of retreating, she moved closer.
Her free hand struck Seryn’s chest. At that same instant, she returned the blow, and profound spiritual energy exploded at point-blank range.
Seryn was sent crashing into a stone wall, and the mountain behind her trembled.
Thesira advanced, her beautiful eyes becoming brighter and greener. Two beams of light shot out.
Seryn rolled to the side at the last instant. The stone behind her was struck and began to harden.
Seryn immediately understood the Elder’s intention. She could not allow Thesira’s eyes to meet hers, so she charged through the smoke.
Thesira partially closed her eyes and heard the sound of claws approaching. Her sword blocked the attack.
The two remained close to each other.
Seryn bared her teeth.
"You’re reaching your limit. It won’t be long before you are exhausted and my claws sever your head."
Thesira breathed heavily.
"You’re also running out of profound spiritual energy. Let’s see if you can remain standing after a few more exchanges."
The Elder pushed her sword forward. Seryn retreated, but at that moment, another explosion occurred below.
Lyssara had been thrown against the ground, and the stone cracked beneath her body. Draven immediately descended with his spear.
Lyssara opened her eyes. The tip of the weapon was only a few centimeters from her face.
She rolled to the side.
BOOM!
The spear destroyed the ground.
Lyssara used the shaft of the weapon as support and spun. Her sword struck Draven’s arm, opening a deep cut, and blood sprayed from the wound.
Draven roared and tried to grab her.
Lyssara gracefully retreated. The spear came again, and she dodged it every time, but her opponent was relentless and persistent. Draven attacked without giving her any room.
This time, Draven performed a direct thrust, and once again, Lyssara dodged by mere centimeters. As the spear passed beside her body, she saw the opportunity, grabbed the shaft with her left hand, and pulled.
Draven lost his balance, and at that moment, Lyssara’s sword pierced through his spiritual defense. The blade sank deeply into his abdomen.
Draven’s eyes widened, unable to believe that this had happened.
But even while wounded, he did not fall.
His free hand tightly grabbed Lyssara’s arm.
