The SSS-rank Guide Doesn't Need Saving
Chapter 153: This Person is a Sentinel!
Throughout the entire process, Aisha’s expression was as calm as ever. She allowed the guard who was clutching his neck to gasp for air and fall to the ground with a light thud. She flicked the blood off her dagger and quickly left to search for another target.
The shouts of combined panic and confusion continued to grow as the smoke spread even thicker with time.
After she took five steps forward, Aisha, who was advancing, abruptly dodged. Another guard sliced through the smoke with his weapon already aimed forward. But he had aimed wrongly.
Aisha’s speed instantly exploded as she headed straight for the emerging man.
"Wha—what’s happening?"
"Cough! Why is there smoke here? Fuck, did they set the room on fire?"
"Fire?!"
Voices coming from inside the room grew in number as more and more people talked in chorus, panicking over the notion that they were trapped inside the cage while a fire had broken out.
"We’re under attack! Get yourselves prepared and retaliate immediately!"
Someone from the enemy’s side shouted the order.
However, it was too late.
Fresh blood spurted out once again. Another body fell to the ground without even letting out a groan.
Aisha did not stop amidst the barked orders her enemies were giving to attack her. She had already arrived in front of a geared-up guard, slashing his neck with her dagger. He was decapitated in a single, swift move and couldn’t even lift his arms to protect himself.
Aisha’s gaze was wolf-like, like that of a predator on a hunt tonight. She had no pity to spare for people like them. Just thinking about what torture Zenick could have been subjected to in their hands was enough for her to completely shut off all her emotions, automatically switching on her kill-on-sight mode.
If other people who knew her in this world could see her right now, they would have never associated her with the D-rank Guide everyone mocked and underestimated!
Right now, she was like a Goddess of Death, reaping souls as she swung her dagger around.
Her movements were so precise and as fast as light. There was no awkwardness or hesitation in the way she took lives, as though it was all natural for her to do so.
Finally, one guard sensed the danger and knew whoever had come to attack them was an expert. Perhaps, they were even more skilled and ruthless than they were!
"Who are you?"
However, his question was met with another scream from his left. Another one of his fellow guardsmen had fallen!
"There’s no need for you to know. You’re all going to die tonight, anyway." Aisha stepped on the corpse as she headed toward the voice.
"Is that so? You can consider yourself unlucky then." The man gripped his weapon and then sprinted. He headed straight for Aisha, who had gotten close enough for him to see her faint silhouette through the smoke.
Knowing that he couldn’t delay or show fear, he decided to go all out as well.
Pressure suddenly exploded from his body, and numerous fire balls the size of tennis balls manifested around him, hissing ferociously as they shot at Aisha.
There was a total of six fire balls.
Each of them could instantly burn the skin and flesh off a low-threat corrupted monster. Against humans? One touch was enough to set them on fire!
Now, these fireballs were hot on Aisha’s trail.
This person was a Sentinel!
However, Aisha’s expression didn’t change much even after learning she was facing a Sentinel. This person’s level was unknown, but her instincts hadn’t told her that she was in grave danger. With a wave of her hand, she countered each ball of fire with smoke bombs, then dropped flat to the ground.
’Boom’
A quick succession of explosions rang throughout the room, shaking the walls and the ground. The impact of the bombs and fireballs colliding was unexpectedly strong and intense, sending a hot blast of air through the room and almost clearing the smoke that had begun to spread at the start.
The instant the smoke cleared for a moment, Aisha saw who she was facing. It was a huge man with thick muscles all over his body. His bodysuit was stretched taut to accommodate them. It was surprising that it had held on.
The fabric used must be made of high-quality material, Aisha thought.
What Aisha didn’t know was that this man was the Sentinel who had beaten Zenick until he was unconscious.
The man obviously didn’t expect his ability to be countered like that. But his eyes flashed murderously as he was caught in the blast, which threw him several feet into the air before he landed painfully against the metal cage behind him.
"Kughk!"
He spat out blood as his back took the most damage, absorbing the impact of the blast and cushioning his entire body. However, he did not fail to glance in Aisha’s direction, his eyes widening in shock at what he was looking at. He couldn’t believe that the person he was fighting, who had done him and his fellow guardsmen in so abruptly, had been a little girl all this time!
And what caught him off guard was that she was unscathed by the blast!
In that nick of time, Aisha had used the corpse she had stepped on earlier to cover her body, dropping flat to the ground and waiting for the explosion to calm down. Then, once the smoke had cleared, she looked around at her surroundings.
In that split second before the smoke once again spread out even more densely due to the explosion, Aisha saw a total of five cages inside the massive room, three of which were occupied. But the woman had only told her there were three cages. It was different from what she had been told.
Only five people were imprisoned inside the three occupied cages. Where were the rest of them? Had they already been taken out during the hour the woman was separated from her group?
Zenick was also not among the people still left inside the room.
Had they taken him somewhere else?
