The SSS-rank Guide Doesn't Need Saving

Chapter 152: Under Attack! (2)

The woman didn’t completely tell Aisha what happened.

When the man escaped, she and her husband had just been brought to that place with many other people who had also been tricked into believing they’d get free food and a hunk of energy stone.

After seeing the man slip past the guards’ grip, they cheered for him. Some shouted for him to defeat the guards, while most wished he could climb out of that place and report everything to the authorities, saving all of them.

But what they witnessed next only gave all of them nightmares.

The man couldn’t even get to the door when he was surrounded. He was backed against the wall, and with just one touch, the man flinched and screamed in pain. All of them were perplexed and didn’t know what had happened. But the next second, they saw him beg for mercy.

The signs of corruption ate away at him in seconds.

The entire place went quiet as a tomb. The only sound that followed was the guards mimicking the man’s struggle and desire to escape, laughing and warning the people inside the cage not to think of escaping unless they wanted to experience the same fate as that man.

Since then, no one thought about resisting.

Until an hour ago.

The cages were opened, and more than half of them were taken, the woman included. Her husband tried to get to her, but he was suppressed. Halfway there, she was dragged elsewhere by the two men Aisha had killed.

’Tuk, tuk, tuk.’

The sound of the woman’s footsteps rebounded against the wall. The woman tried to lessen the noise, but when she stopped, she realized something shocking. Although the two of them were walking, the footsteps she was hearing were only her own.

Did she stop following me? the woman thought, braving a glance behind her.

But Aisha hadn’t stopped walking. Seeing her turn, Aisha even raised an inquiring brow.

The woman swallowed hard and turned back. She suddenly had a ridiculous idea that the young woman behind her was a ghost.

Because how could anyone walk so lightly that they wouldn’t make a sound?

The stairs were made of steel, so unless someone walked slowly and gently with padded shoes, there was no way she could’ve walked soundlessly across them! Besides, they’d been marching down, almost jogging, to reach their destination quickly.

Besides, now that she was thinking about it, who could’ve dared to go down to this place and save people with only a dagger?

There was no doubt that the young woman had killed two men who had almost assaulted her, but it was obvious there were far more dangerous situations they would face the further they went below. The scale of the danger and risk up ahead was enough to make even the strongest person hesitate. And yet, she showed none of it!

But the woman couldn’t say anything. She sensed that if she hesitated even for a bit while leading Aisha to the cages, Aisha would do something to her.

What the woman didn’t know was that Aisha had learned the hard way to walk around creatures with extremely advanced hearing. The mutated creatures from her world could hear and smell from far away; thus, she had to quickly learn how not to make a sound so she wouldn’t draw their attention. From walking to breathing, she was able to remain as silent as a cat.

Finally, they reached the end.

The woman softly whispered to Aisha, "We’re here."

In front of them was a steel door. Aisha observed it quietly, worried that it was another door that needed an access permit. But miraculously, it wasn’t.

However, she couldn’t help but feel even more cautious. For a door that led to people being imprisoned, there were no guards stationed outside to protect it.

Then, she recalled something.

"Were the guards who were guarding this door the ones upstairs?"

She was talking about the men she killed in the same room where she found the woman.

When the woman nodded, Aisha felt glad she’d taken them out early. Luckily, they were horny individuals, and their lust had made them leave their post, giving her the chance to slip past without alerting anyone.

"Stay here."

"A—are you really going inside alone?"

For Aisha to go in alone would look like a suicidal act in anyone else’s eyes.

But Aisha had never worked well with others. Pushing through danger and surviving alone had been what she did best.

’Click.’

Aisha held a self-detonating item and pushed the door open, throwing it inside before closing it.

In a matter of just a few seconds, a loud explosion reverberated, and the door shook before them. No one inside beyond the door was able to react. Perhaps they didn’t even notice her slipping the explosive inside until it exploded.

"What...?"

The woman stared speechlessly at her. She thought they were here to save people, but that explosion just now...

But Aisha didn’t bother explaining.

Once they heard a commotion beyond the door, Aisha finally raised her weapon and pulled the door open.

But before she went in, she turned to the stunned woman and said, "Stay here until everything’s clear."

A cold glint flashed in Aisha’s eyes. As the dense smoke spread out, her body swayed, and killing intent burst from her body. She fiercely waved her dagger to the side.

A man who was closer to the door and was trying to open it let out a blood-curdling scream as his neck was slit.

After killing one, Aisha looked through the smoke. What she had thrown inside the room was merely a smoke bomb. Once it detonated, it caused minimal damage. However, the smoke that came out of it would hinder anyone’s view, making it harder to pinpoint her location.

Although it was also true that she would have a hard time seeing them, her ability to hear things more profoundly had never been erased.

Each time their boots crunched against the ground, Aisha was able to learn their exact locations.

And so, with the dagger in her hand, she approached another guard and sliced his throat open.
