The Rise of the Iron Wall!
Chapter 868: Final Whistle! Stealing the Victory!
This time, though, the chaos inside the penalty box was too much, and not a single one of the players outside there was able to see what was going on. The referee was sweating bullets right now, getting ready to blow the whistle and call for the VAR if the worst-case scenario was on the board.
It took a while, but after waiting for a moment, the dust was finally settled.
There, inside the penalty box, Malick Thiaw was standing in front of Higo as if he was trying to protect the goalkeeper. Well, his position was quite a bit awkward, since he himself was guarding the back post when that commotion happened.
However, the focus was not on that young Frenchman. No, it was on the ground, where Higo was clutching the ball tightly as if he was so afraid of losing it. Right on top of him, Haaland also had both hands on the ground to maintain his posture, while the man’s left foot was so close to Higo’s abdomen.
It was clear that he also fought for that ball earlier.
However, besides them, one more person appeared out of nowhere. It was none other than Jude Bellingham, as the English young man was so close to pushing the ball to the goal earlier. Still, he failed in the last second, and as a result, his right foot only found Higo’s tight, a quite dangerous position that could injure the goalkeeper.
Everyone was so stunned for a second. Hell, some of the Schalke players were worried sick right now, wondering if Higo would be alright or not after clashing against two players who were clearly bigger than him.
However, it seemed that adrenaline took over the boy at that moment, because somehow, he was the very first person who got up from this commotion.
"YES! I GET THE FUCKING BALL!" He roared wildly with the ball in his left hand, his right one punching the air in excitement. Honestly, with all the dirt and sweat on his face, the boy looked like a proper God of War right now, especially when two of his enemies were still down on their feet helplessly. "COME ON!" He roared once again, not caring whether the game still continued or not.
"FUCK! Higo! I know you can do it!"
"Hahaha! I don’t know what happened, but the ball is in your hand! Fuck! You are so awesome!"
All the Schalke players let out their most relaxed laughter at this point, knowing full well that they were just one step away from sealing the deal. Meanwhile, all the Dortmund players just stared at Higo in disbelief, still trying to figure out how he could stop such an attack straight in front of him.
Haaland and Bellingham, especially, looked at Higo in awe, for the first time realizing that Higo was way better than anyone they had ever faced before. Unfortunately, the goalkeeper came from their team’s lifelong rival, and it would be improper for them to chat with him, especially since they were about to get beaten right now.
In the end, they could only swallow all their feeling right now, walking back toward their own position helplessly.
The rest of the Dortmund players also did the same, with Roman Burki running back to his own half as quickly as possible. However, at this point, no one on Schalke’s side was ready to rush forward to take advantage of the goalkeeper’s absence, so Higo didn’t try to get the team’s second goal after that.
No, even if he didn’t do anything, just stalling time while also carrying the ball on his hand was enough. After all, the referee had already checked his clock once again, and right when the boy kicked the ball as far away as possible...
FWEEE! FWEEE! FWEEE!
The second half of the Revier Derby was finally over! Schalke 04 somehow managed to upset the home team Borussia Dortmund, stealing a win once again in this crazy Westfalenstadion!
"COME! FUCKING! OOOOON!"
The moment the whistle was blown, Higo took off his tattered gloves immediately, throwing them to the sky while roaring wildly like the world had just bowed at him.
Soon enough, Morita followed, slamming at him with the fiercest hug that the boy could give at this point.
"FUCK IT! WE DID IT, RYUSUKE!" The Japanese midfielder laughed as well, even with a single tear dropping from the corner of his eye. "WE FUCKING DID IT! WE CONQUER THIS FUCKING STADIUM!"
If only people didn’t know the context, they would just sneer at them for treating the win today as if they had just won the whole World Cup here. However, anyone from the two towns in this region knew what the win meant for Schalke, and those who supported the Gelsenkirchen team also shared the same laughs and tears right now.
"Good job, Brats! I know you two can do it!" Omar Mascarell joined, rubbing both Higo and Morita on their heads affectionately.
"Yeah, no wonder Torsten is so good on you both... You guys are always so crazy with your ambition, you know?" Sead Kolasinac added, having the biggest smile that Higo had ever seen on the man’s face right now.
At the mention of the head coach, everyone turned around to the sideline, just to see the boss himself was hugging with all the staffs there enthusiastically. It was clear that the man was the happiest about winning today’s game, and he didn’t even hide it at all.
The mocking smile, as if gloating over Dortmund’s misfortune, couldn’t be misinterpreted by anyone with a brain right now. Honestly, if not for the security team having to drag him off the pitch, the man would’ve lost control already, provoking the home team’s supporters beyond necessity.
Still, at this point, Higo couldn’t care less about it. No, as the winner today, especially after fighting tooth and nail to defend his own territory, the boy felt like he had the right to brag about it even for a while.
He turned his gaze to the whole stadium immediately, wanting to catch up with some of the Dortmund players. To his surprise, though, no one was there, as all the players with the yellow jerseys had already disappeared from the pitch.
’Yeah, no wonder they are gone... It seems that they couldn’t bear this humiliation, right? Man, winning an away derby game sure is so satisfying!’
