The Rise of the Iron Wall!
Chapter 867: The Very Last Minute of the Game!
"COME ON! MOVE FORWARD!"
"AK! DON’T WORRY ABOUT THE DEFENSE! MOVE TO THE BOX!"
"THOMAS! BE MORE AGGRESSIVE! TRY TO GET CLOSER FIRST!"
At this point, Dortmund’s head coach, Lucian Favre, was so tense, instructing all of his players to rush forward. He was sweating like bullets, cursing inwardly whenever he saw the referee checking on his watch.
It was as if the death god itself was counting how much time he had till he met his end, laughing secretly at how futile his struggle was to save himself right now.
Somehow, the panic could be felt among the players as well, and this only made them rush things up to get the ball into the box as quickly as possible. However, it had to be admitted that with more numbers in the box, every single cross became way more dangerous than necessary, giving all the Schalke players a heart attack.
In the 92nd minute, Raphael Guerreiro managed to fool Sebastian Rudy once again, giving him space to send a decent cross. Inside the penalty box, five Dortmund players fought to get the ball, but in the end, it was Malick Thiaw who managed to touch it first.
BAM!
The young French defender managed to win the duel against Axel Witsel!
Unfortunately, the clearance was far from perfect. It still fell inside the penalty box, and before anyone from Schalke could get the ball away from their territory, Marco Reus came in clutch, pushing the ball outside of the box to Mahmoud Dahoud, who suddenly came out of nowhere.
"FUCK! CLOSE THE SPACE, JONAS!" Higo shouted.
Unfortunately, it was way too late, because...
BAM!
A shot was taken from outside of the box! The power and aim were quite decent, and Higo had to grit his teeth while diving, praying that he would be quick enough to stop it.
However, with the crowd in front of him, the boy didn’t need to take any action. No, before the ball could reach him, it hit someone from Schalke first, and as a result, the ball bounced away from the pitch, giving Dortmund another corner kick to take.
"Shit! Again?!"
"Get over it, Dahoud! Get ready again! Get ready again!"
"Come on! Move!"
This time, Thorgan Hazard moved to the corner spot, getting ready to execute it. However, not only that, but Roman Burki joined the frontline right now, leaving no one behind. It was a rare occasion for a goalkeeper to move forward in the middle of the league right now, when a mere defeat wouldn’t really affect the whole competition at all.
However, Dortmund was blinded by rage at this point. For them, losing was never an option today, especially since the opponent was their rival, Schalke. Hell, even a draw would still hurt for them, but that was definitely better than being humiliated in their own home.
Now, at least, seven of the Dortmund players were inside the box, while the other three were waiting outside to anticipate if Schalke still managed to clear the ball out. It was always important to leave some people behind, because their rival had already proven to be quite formidable in the aerial duel.
Higo was also so tense right now, eyeing everyone around him warily. Even though he had a clairvoyant ability, it would only do him a little when the threat came from all directions. His senses were so numb, overwhelmed by the crowd in front of him.
’Damn! I cannot even move freely in my own box! This means I have to wait passively instead of rushing to pick up the ball, right? Fuck, this is bad!’
Unfortunately, he didn’t have any time to think about it clearly. Soon enough...
FWEEE!
The referee finally blew the whistle, and Thorgan Hazard didn’t need a second invitation to restart the game. The Belgian winger glanced one last time to the penalty box, and once he had already determined where to place the ball to...
BAM!
A cross was flying a little bit far from the six-yard box, slightly closer to the penalty spot. This caught everyone off guard, since the crowd itself gathered around that small box in front of the goalkeeper.
However, this left quite a lot of space in that spot, and somehow, Felix Passlack, the winger with pompous blonde hair, won the duel against Benito Raman to head the ball to the goal.
BAM!
’Shit!’ Higo scowled, reacting immediately.
However, he didn’t react to where the ball went. No, the boy just shifted his position a little bit, knowing that the header would be blocked before it arrived right in front of him. At least, that was what his clairvoyant ability told him, and Higo couldn’t afford to trust it right now.
’Left... No, it bounces, still left! Shit! Blank?! Haaland will be there!’
Everything happened so quickly. One moment the image was clear as ever inside his head, but in the next second, everything went blank like a television losing a signal. This alone was enough to give him an idea of where the ball would go, and it only took the boy less than a second to find the Norwegian striker in the crowd.
True enough, though, in that chaotic moment, the ball bounced left and right, and somehow, it ended up falling on Haaland’s feet. The striker was startled for a second, but his instinct as a beast in front of the goal took over immediately as he swung his right foot as quickly as possible.
However, at the same time, Higo had also made his move, and in that exact second, the distance between them was only one meter, and with that ball getting slammed by Haaland from such a close gap...
BAM!
"Urgh!" Higo groaned as his stomach had to bear another force hitting him. Still, the goalkeeper didn’t have any time to back down, not when the ball was still on the ground.
With everything he had inside him, the boy jumped once again, extending both hands to snatch the ball before anyone else could get to it.
As a result...
BAM!
Another collision occurred once again!
