Chapter 851: Dinner After the Game with Morita

  • Next Chapter

"Morita-san! It’s great to see you again!" Sakura greeted the boy with a wide smile the moment Higo brought Morita to meet the girls outside the pitch. "It’s been a long time, right?"

It was after the game was over, and after all the trivial matters like a post-game interview and another pep talk with the coach were done, they decided to have a little hangout session outside.

This was also the girls’ request, as not only had it been a long time since they met Morita, but they were also at the end of their sanity, what with them not being able to go out in the last couple of months.

That was why they took their sweet time here when they had a good reason to leave their humble abode.

"I heard from Ryukkun that you are busy with your girlfriend. What is her name, by the way? Elizabeth, right? You should introduce her to us, you know?" Kumiko added with a smile as she hugged the midfielder.

Higo couldn’t help but snort when he heard that, while Morita at least had the decency to blush even a little. At the girls’ questioning gaze, the goalkeeper explained, "Elizabeth was his ex a few months ago. After that, he dated a girl from Spain named Isabella, and now, it should be that Korean girl, right? Kim Hana?"

"You don’t need to say it out loud, Bastard!" Morita hissed, feeling slightly embarrassed that his dark history was dug up openly like that.

Both Sakura and Kumiko were so speechless when they heard that. The girls knew that Morita was some sort of a womanizer, but this was definitely beyond their expectations.

"...You sure have an interesting time in this country, huh?" Sakura murmured sarcastically, inwardly taking a note on her head to remind her boyfriend not to do anything stupid out there.

Well, fortunately, Morita had such a thick skin here, as he didn’t even bat his eyes on that mocking tone. "Anyway, you want to hang out, right? Let’s go to the closest restaurant here! I know one that is still open even in this COVID-19 era."

Higo was so sure that this knowledge was gained from the boy’s dating experience. Still, he didn’t spill it out, just tagging along while the boy was guiding them to get into that restaurant several blocks away from the stadium.

"Abuela! I am here again!" Morita suddenly shouted, startling all of his friends. "I bring three friends here! Give me your best today!"

Right after that, someone, an old woman with hair already turning white and wrinkles on her face, had her face beaming brightly when she saw Morita’s presence.

"¡Mi hijo guapo! It is good to see you again!" The woman chuckled merrily. Once her gaze shifted to Kumiko and Sakura, she gave the boy a nod of approval. "So, you ditched that perra de mierda already? Good! I know that she was only with you for your money! Now, the girls look more proper, more suitable for you!"

Morita choked instantly, shaking his head in panic. "No, Abuela! They are my high school friends! High school friends, you know?!"

"Ah~! That’s what they always said at first!"

Higo could feel the corner of his lips twitching right now, not expecting that Morita would have a good relationship with the owner of this restaurant. Well, after that, the midfielder explained that he came here for the first time on the recommendation of his ex, whose name was Isabella, and the boy somehow fell in love with the Mediterranean food here.

Not that Higo doubted him, as the moment the food was serve, a warm plate of a classic Paella, he couldn’t help but widen his eyes in shock. The umami bomb that he experienced after his first bite was enough to make him have a foodgasm.

The girl also enjoyed the food, which made Morita grin widely, feeling so satisfied that his favorite restaurant got approved by his friends.

"By the way, how is your injury, Morita-san?" Kumiko couldn’t help but ask after she finished her food. "Is everything okay already? Any restrictions yet?"

Sakura also leaned forward, getting interested in anything about the player’s recovery.

"It’s good, it’s good." Morita grinned, showing off his healthy right foot. "The last time I went for a check-up, the doctor said that my condition was close to what it was before I got injured. It will take time to recover my fitness condition, but I’m sure I will be good enough in two or three games."

"Well, that’s good." Kumiko sighed in relief. "Sorry that we couldn’t visit you even once, but we also have our own problem back home." She glanced at Higo for the last part.

"Oh, yeah, you guys are living together, right? So, how is it? Have you done anything... Good?" Morita asked while wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.

Higo and Kumiko blushed instantly, while Sakura gagged, looking at the couple in disgust. "Urgh! You don’t have to mention that, Morita-san! I really have had enough of them being so lovey-dovey!" She said in exasperation.

Morita just chuckled a little, finding himself enjoying their reaction.

They chatted about so many trivial things here, catching up with each other’s lives. Even though they were not that close before, since they all lived in a foreign country, being from the same homeland sure was enough to get them bonded in a blink.

After a while, though, once the conversation went back to their career, Morita suddenly shifted his attention to Higo, catching the boy off guard.

"What?" He asked confusedly.

"Nah, just curious here." A grin formed on the midfielder’s face as he suddenly got excited out of nowhere.

"This conversation might come late, but I am curious here. You have been hailed by Robert Lewandowski himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, so do you have any idea to win some awards that would truly put yourself on that list? I mean, you are still eligible for the best young player of the year, right?"
