The Rise of the Iron Wall!
Chapter 846: Another Red Card!
"OI! What the fuck are you doing?!"
"That’s a blatant punch! Do you want to fight or what?!"
"Hey, don’t push around like that! Keep calm! Keep calm!"
As anyone could expect, commotion broke out instantly after everyone realized what had happened. All the Werder Bremen players nearby didn’t hesitate, rushing toward Mark Uth with murderous intent. After all, that punch was indeed quite excessive, and right now, they all wanted nothing but a piece of the striker for revenge.
Of course, Schalke players around wouldn’t let it happen. Even though they knew that it was their teammate’s fault, they still put their body on the line, blocking all the attempts from their opponent to get closer to Mark Uth.
Just this alone was enough to make all the people outside of the pitch speechless, wondering how things could suddenly turn into chaos like this.
"Well, it’s bound to happen, you know?" On the stands, Sakura sighed helplessly as she saw the fight break out.
"Werder Bremen players did a good job in their little movement. None of them is enough to warrant a yellow card, and yet, it is still frustrating for Schalke to deal with. This snap should’ve been expected, especially since their head coach didn’t intend to make a change to combat the opponent’s aggressiveness."
Kumiko also sighed helplessly, somehow feeling like Schalke’s head coach wasn’t that good at adapting to the current situation. While most of the fault was on Mark Uth for losing control of his emotions, at least some was on Frohling for failing to change anything when the team faced the opponent’s aggressive strategy.
After a little talk between the referee and two captains, coupled with the VAR check to see how the commotion broke out, a decision was finally made.
A red card for Mark Uth for the excessive movement, and a yellow card for the victim, who also initiated the contact by holding the striker’s jersey to prevent the man from turning around.
Even though some people weren’t satisfied with the result, this was a decision that was made after checking the video, so it was hard for them to complain again. In the end, they just had to accept it, with Schalke losing one player from this incident.
Still, everything ran so fast and wild today, as it had only been 38 minutes, and yet, two penalties and two red cards had already been given by the referee. That still didn’t count the yellow cards and the number of fouls that the poor man had to point out, as an incident would happen every three minutes on the pitch.
Honestly, if people didn’t watch the game, they would think that the referee was being too harsh here. However, every foul was indeed quite bad, and the two players who got sent off the pitch all deserved this punishment.
Still, now that the number of players was the same once again, 10v10, Werder Bremen finally managed to get out of the pressure and started exerting their strength once again. They might lose their left winger, Josh Sargent, who had to be subbed off to fill in the gap on the right back that was left by the red card earlier, but their midfielder was still strong enough to fight for control.
Hell, if anything, with three midfielders on the pitch, they managed to overwhelm Omar Mascarell and Nabil Bentaleb quite easily, turning the tide by starting to regain possession in this game.
In the process, Higo also had to work harder, as the opponent’s wave of attack was coming.
In the 40th minute of the game, Leonardo Bittencourt suddenly managed to insert himself into the channel space inside the penalty box. Fortunately, the through pass that was sent by Werder Bremen’s midfielder was not the best, as the ball got into his feet instead of the space in front of him, and as a result, without any room to run up...
BAM!
A shot was taken, but it was still weak enough, with the route being straight to the middle. Higo didn’t even need to move, just picking up the ball on the ground. Unfortunately, with Schalke’s defensive line getting pushed back to their own territory, no one was ready to launch a counterattack, so the boy had to restart the game quietly after letting everyone move forward first.
The next threat came two minutes later, and this time, it started from the middle.
Maximillian Eggestein somehow managed to get rid of Nabil Bentaleb’s mark with a swift dribble, and before he lost his balance, the midfielder pushed the ball to Niclas Fullkrug right in Schalke’s half-arc area.
The striker was guarded tightly by Timo Becker, but he protected the ball fiercely while also looking for a chance to turn around.
He didn’t need much, though, because the moment the man saw a glimpse of space to look at Higo’s goal, he took action immediately, catching Timo Becker off guard.
BAM!
A long-shot from outside of the box!
This time, the power was decent, and even though it didn’t float, the ball still rolled fast to the bottom right of the goal. However, this time, Higo moved quickly, diving on the ground with one hand stretching far to get the ball away from the goal.
As a result, it only bounced slightly off the original route, giving the opponent another corner kick to take advantage of.
Still, despite all the chances that both teams created, the tension was still rising. More fouls were committed, and sometimes, the referee even had to decide fast before he got pressured by the players from both teams.
It was clear that no one wanted to lower their intensity here, wanting to maintain it until the end of the first half.
Fortunately, it didn’t take long, as after waiting for a while...
FWEEE! FWEEE! FWEEE!
The referee finally blew the whistle three times in a row, letting out a relieved sigh as he finally ended this exhausting first half, letting everyone cool down their head first while hoping that they could come back with a clear mind.
Schalke 04 1-1 Werder Bremen SV
