The Rise of the Iron Wall!
Chapter 845: The Second Penalty of the Game! Chaos!
"REF! He is trying to fucking kill him! That’s a fucking red card!"
"Are you kidding me?! He used two feet to get into Fabian! He should be sent off immediately!"
"Is he trying to murder my teammate or what?!"
"You have to take action, Ref!"
At this point, even Omar Mascarell himself didn’t have any thought about stopping his teammates from rushing toward the referee. If only he wasn’t the team’s captain here, the Spaniard would also try to spit on the referee and the culprit, feeling like his blood was boiling from that horror tackle.
Fortunately, the referee wasn’t blind here. Everything happened right in front of his eyes, and even with the VAR waiting to be used on the sideline, the man didn’t really need it. He just went straight to Werder Bremen’s player with the jersey number 23, giving the man a straight red card and pointing to the tunnel without mercy.
"OH! Yes, a red card!"
"Come on! Get the fuck out of here, Bastard!"
"This is our chance! Yes!"
All the supporters on the stand roared immediately, celebrating the red card as if it was a goal itself. Well, to some extent, this was way more precious than the goal, as now, the red card basically determined that Schalke would completely dominate the whole thing for the rest of the game.
Werder Bremen players themselves wanted to push their luck, acting shamelessly to beg that it shouldn’t be a straight red card. They could accept a penalty kick, but losing one player in the 6th minute of the game was definitely not a great thing for the team.
Unfortunately, their argument was shallow. They couldn’t even convince the referee to consider checking for VAR, and in the end, they had to lose their fullback because of that one stupid play.
To their annoyance, though, a few minutes later, Fabian managed to get back to the pitch once again after being checked by the medical team, running easily without having a problem at all. Honestly, if they didn’t witness how horrible the tackle from their teammate was, they would all think that the blonde winger was just playing a little trick here.
Meanwhile, Werder Bremen’s coach was so green with fury right now, and his glare was enough to make all the players flinch in fear. It was the type of glare that promised a lot of pain in the next training session, one that they didn’t want to face at all.
Soon enough, the penalty box was cleared, leaving only Goncalo Paciencia, the executor of the penalty kick, and Werder Bremen’s goalkeeper. Honestly, it was ironic how the table turned. It was Higo who was in that position a moment ago, and yet, it was Schalke who got the upper hand right now.
The Portuguese striker took a deep breath while he was waiting for the referee to blow the whistle. In the next few seconds...
FWEEE!
The signal was sound and clear, and Paciencia started running slowly while also keeping his eyes on Werder Bremen’s players. All the Schalke players behind also got ready to follow from behind, preparing themselves for any second-ball scenario.
Well, it was unnecessary, since the penalty itself was perfect.
BAM!
Paciencia aimed at the left side of the goal, the opposite of where the goalkeeper was diving. As a result, the man could only watch helplessly as the ball went straight to the back of the net.
"YES!" The Portuguese striker punched the air excitedly, celebrating his first-ever goal for the team. "COME ON!" He waved at the supporters once before turning around, letting all of his teammates hug him from behind.
"Fuck it, Paci! That’s a cold execution!"
"Good job! That’s why you are here!"
"Let’s score another goal after this! Come on!"
Higo also celebrated the goal together with those on the backline. He felt a wave of relief wash over him, knowing full well that the goal he conceded earlier wouldn’t really matter for this game. No, if the team was good enough, they would be able to score at least one or two more goals, what with them having a one-player advantage for the next 80 minutes.
’Yeah, if we failed to win, no one will be able to survive the coach’s wrath.’ Higo thought inwardly, feeling like the corner of his lips twitching a little.
However, things weren’t as easy as he thought it would be. No, Werder Bremen went into the play that they were most familiar with, which was playing as rough as ever to disturb any chance for Schalke to gain momentum.
Getting ragdolled left and right, of course, Schalke would fight back with the same fierceness. As a result, instead of a proper game with Schalke dominating the whole thing, it looked like they were playing a WWE simulation, with tackles flying left and right.
Honestly, twenty minutes since the game began, and the referee was way busier than any other game that he had ever led in the past. Four fouls had already been committed by the home team, while the away team even had a higher number, six. In total, the game had just gone 30 minutes, and 10 fouls had already happened on the pitch.
As for the cards, well, besides the red card for one Werder Bremen player earlier, the referee had already booked one yellow card for Omar Mascarell for his reckless tackling, while Werder Bremen also suffered two from their rough action.
So far, everything turned into an unwatchable game, as it was hard to enjoy a royal rumble disguised as a football game.
However, the worst happened in the 32nd minute. At that time, Mark Uth received the ball from Nabil Bentaleb in midfield, and yet, the moment he wanted to turn around and face the goal, his jersey got dragged by one Werder Bremen player.
Having had enough of this bullshit, the striker reacted quite violently. He swung his left arm around, wanting to get rid of the player behind him.
As a result...
BRUGH!
A 180 punch went straight to the head, and the player got knocked out right after that.
