Chapter 2932: Rights and Duties
Chapter 2932: Rights and Duties
Minos retracted his powers, but the dome surrounding his domain remained as he had created it, separating the territory and keeping the new local rules valid. Looking at where his daughter was, he didn't worry about the True Celestials in his territory with his family. Confident his subordinates would be fine, Minos left without bothering to say goodbye.
He was now a domain leader, with various responsibilities in the Upper Realm. But even if he couldn't leave the realm so easily, there were methods he already knew that could help him with his plans.
'As lord of a domain, I have to deal with protecting my territory, maintaining time-space stability and managing extraterritorial domains on behalf of the realm. Without these responsibilities being 'up to date', leaving the realm is as difficult, if not more so, than entering it.' Minos thought to himself, while he became more aware of his new reality with each minute.
The Upper Realm had several peculiarities that differed from Hell. Besides protecting its population from the actions of other Deities in their political games outside the dimension, as well as defending against the actions of Devils, an Entitled Deity had to perform two other critical services. The first, cultivation. The second, managing territories on other planes of existence.
The reason for these two duties was deeper than it might seem at first. With cultivation, this was because of the reality of the dimension in relation to the planes of existence. As the Upper Realm had always had more high-level beings than the rest of existence, it 'pulled' in almost all the energy and laws of the existing universes. If there were no beings to absorb this energy 'sucked' into the dimension back into the universes, a cataclysm of universal proportions could break out, wiping out all life outside the realm and even risking the existing structures in the dimension.
The cultivation of the Entitled Deities made it possible to balance this reality. They could absorb some of the energy and laws for themselves and strengthen themselves while directing most of it to different zones of reality. This involved the second mission of the Deities, taking care of planes and, in some cases, entire universes.
Minos had learned throughout his quest for the Upper Realm that his universe was, for the most part, the responsibility of the Deity Lydis. That was true, but he had long misunderstood things. For him, Lydis was solely responsible for the universe. But the truth was that this being was 'only' responsible for the strongest universe in existence.
But as was the case in the Upper Realm, other Deities could come and go in the territories overseen by others. As he had already seen in his new domain, the same happened in the different universes, where beings like Devdar spread their inheritance without having 'rights' over those zones.
But these 'tourists' using third-party domains couldn't do anything really profound in those areas. The benefits were all concentrated on those with rights under these planes. Among the benefits were several interesting attributes, ranging from the collection of faith power—something Minos already knew about—to the sharing of senses, experience, the possibility of invoking projections and much more.
These benefits were not only related to the planes of existence, but also to the territories of the Deities in the Upper Realm itself.
For all these reasons, it wasn't easy to fulfill all the requirements to leave the dimension and compete in the universes, but it was also very attractive to compete for thrones—which conferred even more benefits on their holders.
Everyone in Minos' position would have had to face various challenges in order to join the dimension's disputes as soon as they entered the realm. But he was in a unique position.
'With Soli and the others, I have enough people to carry out my duties in my territory and still start contesting thrones outside the dimension. I just need to concentrate on getting to know the area better and cultivating the dimension's extra energy, redirecting it to my external domain.'
He thought as he moved to start putting his plans into practice.
'I don't need to cultivate immediately, so I'll talk to Devdar first. I'll also create a projection of myself in my home universe. It should go to Zocarro and send a message to Vicente Fuller. With his contact, I can set a trap for one of my old infernal rivals.'
He smiled as he thought of Qhava and the others who had pursued him in the not so distant past.
'Finally, I must create my heirlooms. I have to create more of them in my home universe, but it will be good if I have some in my external domain. Perhaps there will be good talents to join my side in future confrontations.'
The throne had already given him a great deal of information on the subject, so he knew that all the Deities acted in this way when looking for heirs. They used one of the powers of their thrones—projection—to initiate inheritances in different zones of existence, usually focused on their plane of responsibility and some powerful zone or area of interest.
Even though he didn't yet have the thrones to be contested in inheritances, Minos was certain that, if he didn't die, he would get thrones in his domain before one of his inheritances ended. So he wanted to get ahead and not waste time.
While he was thinking about these things, with the throne providing him with much more knowledge about the Upper Realm, Minos left his domain, having the chance to learn about the differences between the outer area and his domain. But with Devdar in mind, he continued for some time, aware that the territory of his old acquaintance was close by.
Naturally, the thrones that belonged to Devdar before new owners sat on them were in his territory. All the domains near Minos' new home belonged to faction allies, with most of them being within a few days' journey of each other.
The Upper Realm was enormous, hence Minos still needed six days to reach the core of Devdar's territory.
When he spotted the underwater city of Devdar, Minos noticed the differences between a more well-established Deity and a novice like himself. The laws there were stronger, and even though Devdar was already weaker than him, Minos knew he would have a hard time or could even lose to Devdar in a fight within this domain.
He went ahead anyway, nonchalant that Devdar might resent his earlier announcement.
As expected, Devdar was waiting for him when Minos entered this space.
"You made up your mind faster than I had imagined." Devdar's voice reached Minos' ears, while the human could already see the Deity waiting for him on top of a beige stone palace, just 10 kilometers ahead.
Minos said before he even reached where Devdar was waiting with the core of the Divine Path, "Senior, I have important matters to discuss with you. I hope you can support me and join me in the crusade I'm starting."
