Chapter 65: Chapter 65 - is nyx going to die?

We arrived at a barrier. I looked at Azera and asked, "Hey, what is this barrier?"

She looked at the barrier and asked me, "Do you see me as a guide or something? You ask more than ten questions."

Nyx laughed from the side as I glared at her. "What are you laughing at, Nyx?"

Nyx just shook her head. "No. Nothing. Nothing."

Then we suppressed the barrier. Surprisingly, nothing happened.

I muttered, "Is this thing for decoration or something?"

We kept going up the road until we finally approached a flattened floor.

I made a hypothetical statement. "I think this is the next floor and that barrier is the one that separates it."

Nyx nodded as we saw something that amazed us. It’s a beach that has great sunlight and clear water.

I looked at it and asked, "Is it an island end?"

Nyx’s eyes twitched as she explained, "You can say that, but it’s called a beach. And before the apocalypse people used to come here and enjoy."

I looked at it in curiosity. "Hmm. What do people do here?"

She just shrugged. "Hmm. Everything. Like eat, play, go into the water and enjoy the waves, and many things."

Then she added, "I’m curious why this is in here. What’s the point?"

I just shrugged and said, "Just ignore it for now. This is the compensation of the world because it took away that moment."

Nyx’s eyes twitched as she listened to it.

Azera asked, "What happened to you two?"

I explained to her what happened, and her eyes widened and her face flushed. "So you two tried to sleep and got interrupted. It’s understandable."

"But why do you tell me something so intimate?"

Nyx’s eyes twitched as she said, "Hey, don’t misunderstand. He meant sleep, not other things. Sleep in the same bed."

She just replied, "What’s the difference? A man and a woman sleeping on the same bed and you think nothing happened?"

My eyes twitched this time. "Hey, who do you think I am? A wild beast or something? I won’t do anything without her consent."

She just smirked. "Who said without consent? When things happen, it’s already given."

I looked at her suspiciously. "Hmm. It seems you have a lot of experience, huh? How many men did you go with before?"

Her face flushed to the extreme and she screamed, "What the hell are you talking about? I haven’t even held hands with a boy around my age!"

I felt like continuing by saying, So then you mean older and younger ones.

But I got a gut feeling that I’m going to get beaten.

Nyx just looked at Azera and me bickering, so she said to Azera, "He’s just joking. Don’t mind him."

But she gave me a death glare.

I didn’t back down as I glared back at her.

Then I decided to go and have fun, so I removed my top and put it in the space ring and went to the sea.

I felt the sea breeze.

Nyx looked at it and smiled and thought to herself, Childish.

Then she went and found a place, got a cloth, and put it down on the beach.

She lay down and called over Azera.

Azera asked Nyx directly, "Why did you help me? I know there’s no one helping for free."

Nyx just sighed and replied, "It’s complicated. If you really want to know, it’s because you remind me of my old self."

Her eyes widened. "Me resembling you?"

Nyx nodded and explained, "When I was little I lost my parents. I thought they were still alive as I searched for them everywhere like you. And then I found out they were already dead by a plot of the nobles."

Azera’s eyes widened. She immediately apologized. "I’m sorry. Because of me you have..."

Nyx stopped her. "No. It’s fine. I already came to terms with it and accepted it. I will take my revenge on those nobles."

Azera asked, "So where are those nobles?"

Nyx looked down. Her eyes darkened as she said, "I don’t know. Some are in the real world, but the powerful ones are on the top."

Azera asked the most important question. "How do you recognize them?"

Then Nyx said something that shocked Azera to the core. "If something happens to me on the way in the tower, please look after Asher. He is a good person."

Then she looked down and said, "I know I’ve been selfish here, but I have no one to ask this."

Azera’s eyes widened. "What do you mean by that? What’s happening to you?"

Nyx just sighed and said, "I’m not sure either. But at that time when I got kidnapped as a child they did something to me. I feel every day life draining from me."

Azera asked, "Does that annoying guy know about it?"

Nyx looked at me and said, "He... no. He doesn’t know. He would throw this whole tower upside down if he finds out."

"My only goal in life is to take revenge for the people. That’s why even I approached Asher. But when I spent time with him I found he is different from other people. He truly cares for me."

"And I fell for him too along the way. Of course now I need to live, so I won’t give up. But I say, what if something happens to me? Make sure he doesn’t fall apart."

Azera looked at Nyx with eyes filled with conflict as she said, "Do you really think I can handle that guy? He is completely a nutcase. If something happens to you he might go mad."

Nyx just smiled. "Hmm. He might. But he is an extremely intelligent person who stays like a goofy person. He has a better mind than anyone I’ve met until now."

"So he will figure things out. He has an extremely high survival rate in the world."

Azera nodded and asked, "But if we found a medicine it’s fine, right?"

Nyx just smiled bitterly. "I don’t know even what’s wrong with me. I tried to find out but no results."

Azera said, "It might connect to your soul."

Then she asked, "Didn’t you feel better after your attributes went up, like spirit and vitality?"

Nyx shook her head.

Then she said, "It might be possible with the Elven Tear."

Then I went there after a long time in the sea waves and asked, "What Elven Tear? Are we going to beat up elves until they cry?"

Then I looked at Azera and said, "Isn’t that too much? Poor creatures."

Her eyes twitched as Nyx laughed.

Then Nyx said, "The Elven Tear is an item that can cure any illness and curse in the world."

My eyes widened and I immediately looked at Nyx. "Who is cursed? Is this dragon girl cursed?"

Nyx just shook her head. "No. No one is cursed. Don’t panic."

I just snorted. "Who, me, panic? Just because she got cursed I just planned to throw her into the sea for feeding the sharks so we are safe from her curse."

Azera’s forehead filled with black lines as she looked at me.

Then Nyx looked at me and asked, "So what happens if I’m the one who got cursed? Are you going to throw me into the sea as well?"

I immediately waved my hand. "Hell nah. I’d kill the sharks and go to the elves and kidnap the elven princess or prince, whatever they got, and threaten them to give the damn Tear or I make your princess cry in the afterlife."

I said it with a proud grin.

Nyx just sighed and smiled. "Ahh. You are always like this. But we need that Elven Tear, so our next plan is to go and get that."

Now she got a sliver of hope for the future. She won’t abandon it. A heavy determination appears on her face.

I watched that and looked confused. "Why do we need that?"

She still hasn’t told me what’s happening because she is worried I would do some reckless things.

But now she found a clear path and refuses to give up on that.

I still feel confused about that, but I nodded. Nyx must have a good reason to do that. I’ll follow her lead.

Then she looked at me and Azera and nodded.

The waves kept rolling in behind us. The sunlight felt almost too clean after everything we had been through. I sat down on the sand next to Nyx’s cloth and let the water dry on my skin.

Azera stayed quiet for a while. She kept glancing at Nyx like she was trying to measure how serious the situation really was.

I picked up a flat stone and skipped it across the water. It bounced three times before sinking.

"Elven Tear, huh?" I said mostly to myself. "Sounds expensive. And probably guarded by a whole army of pointy-eared bastards who think they’re better than everyone just one lousy three ain’t scared me."
