Chapter 53: Chapter 53 - new trial

We spent the time like that until the end of the trial.

We talked about many things like tower possibilities that next floor can be and we took a massive rest and recovered our mana and stamina to full.

As we planned before we saved our food for future but i have many foods i packed before coming here so we eat until we full as well while saving food for future as well.

Then the tower message came again.

[Congratulations. Your team successfully completed the fifth floor of the tower.]

[Your team will be ascending to the next floor.]

[Your reward will be calculated shortly.]

[Do you wish to continue all 5 floors continuously or separately?]

[Warning: If you choose the separate path, your journey difficulty will increase accordingly.]

[Continue] [Leave]

I got both choices, so I looked at Nyx. "Hey, are you sure about continuing all the floors, right?"

She nodded. "Yeah, I’m sure."

I looked for a moment and nodded. "Okay then."

I chose the continuation.

Then the tower message came again.

[You wish to continue. Your ultimate reward will be received at the end of all the floors.]

[You will be teleported to the trial grounds. Once you finish the trial grounds you will ascend to the 10th floor.]

I looked at Nyx. "Hey, is this serious? We’re going to a trial ground and skipping 4 floors as soon as we finish it. What kind of trial is that?"

Nyx nodded. "It must be very difficult, so we have to be careful."

I nodded, and another message came.

[Do you wish to enter?]

[Enter] [Leave]

I pressed the Enter button and thought about why there is a Leave button. Isn’t that supposed to be fixed once we choose to stay?

Then we disappeared from our spot and appeared in a new location, and I saw a massive building.

And some of the people were surrounding it, so I looked at Nyx and she nodded.

So I went to take a look and asked, "What’s going on?"

He looked at me and asked, "Are you new?"

I nodded at him. "Yes. We just finished our fifth floor of the tower."

He said, "If you want information you have to pay."

I looked at him, my eyes twitched. "What do you want?"

He looked at my ring and said, "Food, of course. I’m staying here months. It’s so bland to eat the same thing the tower gives us."

I immediately understood and thought for a moment and replied, "We only have small amounts of food for ourselves as well. What do you want?"

He narrowed his eyes and said, "I don’t care. If you want information you have to pay."

I nodded and frowned with irritation and took out three bento boxes and gave them to him.

His eyes immediately lit up. "That’s what I’m talking about."

I nodded with irritation.

He saw that and nodded with a knowing smile and replied, "This is the 6 to 10 floors. You need to go to the top floor of this building and you can ascend to the 10th floor."

My eyes widened and I asked, "What do you mean go to the top? Like climbing?"

He put a hand on his face. He can’t blame me either because it’s a valid question.

So he pointed at a room. "See that room? You can go to each room and complete its tasks."

"I just called them tasks, but it’s nothing more than a slaughterhouse. Once you go inside you face some monsters and you need to defeat them."

"With each defeat you gain a free level and some attributes, so it’s the trial and the reward at the same time. After we finish all the fifty floors of this building we can gain an ultimate reward."

"And one thing: if your team wipes out on the 49th floor or any floor, you will be sent to the 1st floor and continue the trial, but you won’t get the reward doubled."

I nodded at that, and Nyx just observed everything silently and gathered as much information as she could, then analyzed them.

I looked at him and nodded. "Okay. Thanks for informing us."

Then I looked at Nyx. "Okay. Let’s go clear the first floor. As soon as we finish this we can go."

Nyx nodded.

If this man knew I only took out a small portion of the food I have, what would he say to us?

I gave him three to show him we are sincere so he spills everything at once without hiding anything.

We got more than enough information from him, so those three bento boxes are worth it.

Then Nyx went to the first room and waited for the person inside to finish.

I looked around. Others were resting before going to the room, but we are fully recovered and in the best condition.

So as soon as the team inside finished I opened the door and entered. Nyx followed me inside as well.

As soon as we entered the room the door closed and locked.

[Welcome to the Trial House 1st floor]

My eyes twitched. "Does this tower not have any decent name for this?"

I just sighed. "On second thought it’s decent enough. It’s better than those cringe names like Ultimate Death House or Supernova House."

Nyx looked at me and chuckled. "What are you mumbling about, Asher?"

I just waved my head. "No. Nothing. Nothing at all."

She nodded. "Okay, okay. Get ready for the fight."

I nodded and took my both swords. This must be a group battle. It suits both weapons.

Then we waited, and all around us goblins began to appear.

I looked around, and Nyx got her sword as well. "Let’s begin."

I used my agility to rush toward them and kill them like ants.

My sword moves wild and unrestrained. I cut them one by one and they disappear into thin air. Their bodies don’t fall to the ground.

They just vanish and a counter appears.

I looked at Nyx and said, "It seems those monsters are fake and we didn’t get anything from killing them. That’s why that man said in the end we receive a level."

Nyx nodded. "It must be because if these are real, people would abuse that to level up."

I nodded at that. I came to the same conclusion as her.

We killed all the goblins without giving them any chance to attack us. We didn’t use any mana either.

I went from one goblin to another with slash after another. They fell like flies.

Nyx used her sword art elegantly. Her sword art flows like a calm lake, taking many lives along the way.

And after a few moments we cleared the floor.

Goblins appear, but as soon as they appear we kill them.

[Congratulations. You succeeded on your 1st floor.]

My eyes widened. Wow. It gives us 10 attributes as well. This is a treasure haul.

My eyes lit up, and Nyx looked at me. "This seems to be an extremely useful opportunity. Let’s take every single opportunity in here and pass the trial."

I nodded and asked, "How about we leave for the 2nd floor?"

She nodded, and we looked for the place to go, and a secret door appeared on the wall.

So we opened it and entered it for the next floor.

This floor looks like the previous one. People outside and have a room for the trial.

So we waited for the door to be cleared.

I took out two chocolate bars and gave one to Nyx.

She smiled, took it, and ate until the door got clear.

Chocolate is good for us at this moment, and some of the people saw us eating chocolate and their eyes practically shone with greed for chocolate.

I took out a sword and looked at them with a cold gaze as if saying, "If you have balls, try me."

They didn’t dare. Not because they are afraid. They know if they come all others will come as well and no one will have the chocolate.

So they just let it go.

And they know my look. If they attack I don’t hesitate to kill them. They only lose their people. They need all of the people to complete this damn trial.

At first they too were just like us who looked ecstatic because of the reward, but when they went to the upper floors they witnessed the true terror of this place.

So they stay as they are.

Then the door got clear. The other team must have completed or gotten wiped out. We don’t care. We entered the door.

Just as last time it got locked as soon as we entered.

I looked at Nyx. "Ready for another slaughter?"

She smiled. "As always. Let’s do it."

I grinned, took my both swords, got into the fighting stance, and waited for the enemy to appear.
