Chapter 22: Chapter 22 - went to buy a weapon

The instructor finally finished examining everyone’s weapon choices.

Then he looked around the room and spoke.

"Go and form teams of two. Everyone, hurry up."

The students immediately began looking for partners.

Nyx and I naturally formed a team.

Once everyone had paired up, the instructor spoke again.

"Alright."

"Now fight your partner."

Nyx and I looked at each other.

We stood there for a moment without moving.

The instructor’s expression twitched.

"What?"

"Do I have to give you flowers before you start?"

His voice became louder.

"Fight!"

Everyone immediately turned toward their partners and began fighting.

So we did the same.

I drew one of my swords and immediately slashed toward Nyx.

At the same time, I coated the blade in flames.

CLANG!

Nyx blocked the attack with her sword.

But I didn’t give her any time to breathe.

I continued my barrage, swinging my sword again and again.

She quickly realized that remaining on the defensive would put her at a disadvantage.

So she used ice magic to interrupt my rhythm.

An icy attack shot toward me.

I avoided it for a moment, and that gave her the opening she needed.

Nyx immediately switched to offense.

A wide grin appeared on my face.

Now this is getting interesting.

I intensified my attacks.

Darkness covered one of my swords.

Fire coated the other.

The two of us clashed again and again.

The more we fought...

The more I enjoyed it.

There was no fear.

No hesitation.

Just the sound of steel colliding.

CLANG!

CLANG!

CLANG!

Neither of us noticed the instructor watching us.

He simply gave a small nod of approval.

We were too focused on the battle to care about anything else.

Eventually, Nyx poured her mana and darkness into a single attack.

She swung her sword toward me with tremendous force.

I raised my sword to block.

CRACK!

My blade shattered.

I immediately threw away the broken sword.

No hesitation.

I gripped my remaining sword and continued fighting.

I coated it in darkness and fire simultaneously.

Dark flames began dancing around the blade.

At the same time, I poured mana throughout my body, strengthening my muscles, speed, and reactions.

I pushed myself further.

This was a fight.

And I didn’t want to fall behind.

We exchanged blow after blow.

Every attack.

Every block.

Every movement.

I was enjoying it far too much to end the fight quickly.

So I used everything I had.

Then—

"Enough."

The instructor’s voice suddenly cut through the battlefield.

Nyx and I stopped.

I looked toward him.

He studied us for a moment before asking,

"You two."

"What rank are you?"

Nyx answered first.

"I’m rank one."

I shrugged.

"Number two."

The instructor nodded with satisfaction.

"You two have potential."

"Keep striving to improve."

Then he pointed at me.

"But you..."

"You don’t seem to have any proper swordsmanship technique."

I shrugged.

"Isn’t that intentional?"

He raised an eyebrow.

"It hasn’t even been a month since I awakened."

"I don’t have a family to teach me those fancy sword arts."

I glanced at my sword.

"And honestly..."

"I think what I’m doing suits me better."

The instructor thought about it for a moment before nodding.

"Hm."

"That is true."

"Don’t change it."

"Your swordsmanship is wild, but that unpredictability is also part of your strength."

Then his gaze moved toward my weapons.

"You clearly don’t have a good sword."

"I watched you fight with both swords and with one."

"You have potential with both styles."

"But don’t abandon either one."

He paused.

"My advice is to focus on using one sword for now."

"Dual swords have their advantages, but they also have limitations."

"An experienced opponent can exploit those weaknesses and trap you if you aren’t careful."

He pointed toward my damaged blade.

"And buy yourself a proper sword."

"Your potential is being held back by your equipment."

I nodded.

"Thank you for the advice, Instructor."

He nodded before moving on to another student.

I turned toward Nyx.

She was already looking at me.

"Good job."

"You did well."

She smiled faintly.

"I had to use everything I had just to keep up with you."

I nodded.

"Me too."

"I had to use everything I had."

Nyx smiled.

Then she asked,

"How about after this class?"

"We can go buy you a sword."

I smiled.

"How could I possibly refuse when a beautiful girl is extending an invitation?"

"I’m coming."

She looked at me with amusement.

"Shameless."

I nodded seriously.

"Thank you for the compliment."

Her expression twitched.

"That wasn’t a compliment."

I shrugged.

"It is to me."

She couldn’t help but smile.

We waited for the class to continue.

Eventually, the instructor noticed us standing there.

"If you two are waiting for something, you can go."

Nyx and I looked at each other.

Then we nodded.

"Thank you, Instructor."

We left the classroom together.

I look at nyx who stayed beside me and so i start a conversation.

"hey im poor so you have to buy me a sword"

Her eyes twitch and glear at me

"you... you.. are the second place you got massive amount of merrit points go and spent those"

I just "tsk"

And said.

"stingy you are the first place can’t you but it for me don’t you feel sorry for poor little me"

Her eyes twitch "poor little who are you talking about"

"Clearly it’s not you"

"You must be describing somebody else"

I just laughed and said "don’t be stingy at least buy me something to eat"

"I’m buying a sword so im going to be a broke as hell"

She smiled at that and said "oh what now you are making plans to have dinner tonight with me"

I just shrugged "if you paying i’m all to it but don’t expect me to pay"

Her mouth twitch "you are really shameless scoundrel"

I just spread my hand "you know me"

Then we went to the academy shop to look at some sword and item for us.

Then we entered to the shop and look around

To my surprise there’s nothing here so then we saw a old man sitting on a chair so we went there

I look at him this old man is clearly slacking off in working hours is there any where to report

On second thought why should i care he sleeps or not

So i clap hard "hey old man"

The old man got up immediately and screamed at me "you brat are you going to kill me don’t you have any manners"

I just shrugged "ah manners what’s that"

"And you who is sleep in here are talking about manners"

He look at me and blinks for few times and burst out laughing and slap a hand in his foot and said "i like you kid you have a sense of humor unlike those noble brats"

I just spread my hand and said "what can i say my charisma is to high people can’t resist it"

Old mans laughter intensified

Nyx who in the side look at us like two idiot

And finally old man stop laughing and aks "oh it’s been a while since i laughed this hard kid so what you want to buy"

My smile widen as well after hearing that "oh then can you give me a small discount like a 90% im not asking to much" i grinned

Nyx who besides me twitch her eyes and mutter "not much.."

Then old man look at me with fear "hey you brat why don’t you just directly say you want to rob me"

"You cunning brat"

I didn’t back down and said "what are you yelling for I normally start conversation from 99% just because you are old i started at 90%"

Old man is so angry he finds something to hit me "you stinky brat quit calling me a old man im still young and what are you talking about should i be happy that you ask for 90%"

"You brat just tell me what you want maximum i can give you 10%"

I said "80%"

He said "15%"

We go right and fought and finally he said "25% not a one percent more then"

I try one more time but this stubborn old man doesn’t

And said "fine 25% then you stingy old man"

He look at me and said "you... brat don’t you have tiny bit of respect for me"

I just shrugged and said "do i need to have respect to you"

He is so mad he look at me and said

"If you say old man one more time forget about the discount"

I just raised my hand in surrender and said "ok ok don’t gat angry o.."

"No i mean aa what should i call you"

He look at me he wants to punch me so bad

Beside me nyx look at alll of this she hold off her laughter much as she can her shoulders shaking she covers her mouth
