Chapter 21: Chapter 21 - gat to know about world more
Then Miss Selena began the lesson.
She started with an introduction to mana and explained its various uses.
Mana wasn’t simply something used to cast spells.
It could strengthen the body, enhance physical abilities, empower weapons, and manipulate elemental powers.
There were many other applications as well.
I listened carefully to every word.
This was all new information to me, so I absorbed everything like a sponge.
After explaining the basics, Miss Selena looked around the classroom and asked a question.
"What do you think happens after you reach the level cap at Level 100?"
One of the students raised his hand.
"You get to choose your class and enter the Bronze Tier."
Selena nodded with satisfaction.
"Correct."
"Once you reach the level cap of 100, you enter your first tier—the Bronze Tier."
She paused before continuing.
"Some of you might think that reaching Level 100 means you’ve become incredibly powerful."
"That belief is completely wrong."
"You can’t even imagine how many stronger beings exist in this world."
Her gaze swept across the entire classroom.
"The Tower is your ultimate goal."
"This academy exists to train you for that journey."
"This isn’t the end of your path."
"It is only the beginning."
I listened to every word with intense focus.
The Tower...
Bronze Tier...
Classes...
There was so much I still didn’t know about this world.
Then Selena continued.
"Many of you have already reached the Level 10 cap."
"As you know, reaching that cap requires you to raise every attribute to 25."
Several students nodded.
"And now, some of you are probably wondering..."
"What is the requirement for reaching the Level 100 cap?"
Almost everyone nodded.
Selena smiled.
"The requirement is 999 in every attribute."
My eyes widened.
999?!
What kind of international joke is that?
I couldn’t even imagine reaching those numbers.
For a normal Awakened...
That would probably take an absurd amount of time.
But then I remembered my bloodline.
I have Devour.
As long as I keep finding powerful monsters...
I’ll eventually get there.
My gaze shifted toward Nyx.
She had a grim expression on her face.
I almost felt sorry for her.
Well, she can absorb monster cores too.
So she should have her own way of progressing.
Selena continued.
"Once you enter the Bronze Tier, your attributes will reset."
"But don’t misunderstand."
"Bronze attributes are fundamentally different from ordinary attributes."
"They are far more powerful."
"A normal Awakened wouldn’t even be able to imagine defeating someone who has entered the Bronze Tier."
The classroom became silent.
I clenched my fist slightly.
So that’s what awaited me after Level 100.
A completely different realm of power.
Selena then moved on.
"As for academy training..."
"We aren’t going to simply feed you monster cores and make you stronger."
"Our job is to train your combat abilities."
"If you want to grow stronger, you’ll need to form parties, explore dangerous areas, hunt monsters, and obtain resources yourselves."
She paused.
"Remember this."
"In this world, mana is only the most basic form of power."
"When you eventually ascend the Tower, you’ll discover other forms of energy..."
"And you’ll learn how they can be used."
"Not everyone will have the opportunity to wield them."
"But those who do..."
Her expression became serious.
"Will have their power elevated to an entirely different level."
I carefully memorized every word.
More power.
More realms.
More possibilities.
The Tower was becoming more fascinating with every piece of information I received.
Selena gathered her belongings.
"Work hard."
"That concludes my class."
"You may leave and attend your next lesson."
With that, she turned and left the classroom.
The moment the door closed behind her—
The room erupted into conversation.
Everyone began discussing what they had just learned.
I looked toward Nyx.
"I’m leaving."
She looked at me.
"Want to come?"
She nodded.
I stood up and left the classroom with her.
As I walked away, I could feel someone’s gaze boring into my back.
I glanced sideways.
That noble.
It was probably the same guy I had beaten earlier.
I ignored him.
I had no time to waste on trash.
I finally understood what kind of world I had entered.
And I was beginning to understand what awaited me.
The Tower.
That was where I would become stronger.
That was where I could truly change my fate.
So I needed to work harder.
Much harder.
Nyx followed beside me as we headed toward the next classroom.
I checked my bracelet.
Next Class: Combat Training.
My eyes immediately lit up.
Finally.
Something interesting.
As we continued walking, Nyx suddenly asked,
"What do you think about the information Miss Selena gave us today?"
I shrugged.
"It sounds dangerous."
I paused.
"But there are also plenty of opportunities to become stronger."
I looked ahead.
"So I’m willing to walk this path."
"With no fear."
Nyx nodded.
She understood.
Neither of us had any illusion that this journey would be safe.
At any moment...
We could lose our lives.
But that was the price of becoming stronger.
Eventually, we reached the next classroom.
No one had arrived yet.
Nyx and I entered and found a suitable place.
Then we stood there quietly, waiting for the others to arrive.
Then the students slowly began entering the classroom.
One after another, they walked in and took their positions beside us.
There were no chairs in this class.
Apparently, we wouldn’t be sitting down today.
We waited for a while.
Eventually, the instructor arrived.
He was a muscular man with numerous scars covering his body. Some were long and deep, while others looked like they had been left by claws or blades.
Just looking at him told me one thing.
This man had fought a lot.
He looked around the classroom and spoke.
"Alright. This is Combat Class."
"I won’t waste time explaining academy rules or other academy-related nonsense. You already learned all of that in your previous class."
He pointed toward us.
"So take out your weapons."
"Then take your positions."
I immediately summoned my dual swords.
Shing!
The familiar weight of the blades settled into my hands.
I stood straight and waited.
The instructor began walking around the classroom, examining everyone’s weapons.
Some carried swords.
Others used spears, axes, bows, staffs, or other weapons.
He carefully observed each student before moving on.
Eventually, he stopped in front of me.
His eyes moved from one sword to the other.
He raised an eyebrow.
"Hmm..."
"Interesting choice."
His gaze lingered on my dual swords for another moment before he continued walking.
I remained silent.
Interesting choice?
I tightened my grip around the handles and waited for the instructor to finish inspecting everyone.
