The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend
Chapter 1066 - Let’s See Who Outplays Who
The ruling on Han Wu’s score came down. Since Mythic Titans counted as his core race, everything he did was allowed. His result was deemed valid, and he was awarded full marks.
The second-place contestant only crossed the finish line atop a Subcosm Great Dragon after fourteen minutes and forty-five seconds. Even though it had the strength of a Subcosm life form, his performance was embarrassingly poor since the Golden Scarab’s Forced Defecation had hit him.
Once the judges confirmed that the Golden Scarab was indeed a part of Han Wu’s core race, the contestant wanted to punch Han Wu in the face. However, the deputy referee issued a warning. If he laid a hand on anyone, his qualification would be revoked on the spot. Naturally, the contestant had no choice but to back down.
Third place went to Long Xiang, whom Han Wu had helped. In terms of raw power, Long Xiang’s Tyrannosaurus Rex ranked somewhere in the upper tier among the contestants’ units, but its bloodline purity was too low. No one had ever taken it seriously. The fact that it had made this far was entirely thanks to Han Wu’s assistance.
The Ancient Dragon Clan’s referee grumbled about that but didn’t lower Long Xiang’s score. Luck was a form of strength too. The fact that Long Xiang could make Han Wu willingly help him was a skill in itself.
The remaining contestants reached the finish line one after another. The airborne bombardment they had endured left them seething with resentment. Unfortunately for them, the referee hadn’t called it a foul, so they could only pinch their nose and accept it.
The next morning, Long Xiang came to fetch Han Wu again and brought him to the venue for the second trial. This round tested their defenses.
What made the Great Dragons famous across countless civilizations? Their formidable physique.
Defensive power was a critical measure for the Great Dragons.
The Ancient Dragon Clan had prepared attacks of varying intensity to test each contestant’s unit. The contestants simply had to let their core race endure the attacks, starting with the weakest and progressing to the strongest. Their scores would depend on the strongest blow they could endure.
This time, however, the Ancient Dragon Clan’s leadership had added a last-minute rule. Each contestant could field only one unit from their core race. No assistance from any other units of their core race was permitted. It was obvious who they were targeting.
Han Wu couldn’t help but feel that the Ancient Dragon Clan was being petty. All he did was make the other contestants’ units lose control of their bowels. Was that really worth targeting him over?
Ridiculous. I already deployed the Golden Scarab ahead of time, and now it’s all for nothing! Han Wu quietly recalled the Golden Scarab from its hiding spot and summoned the Yinglong for the defense test instead.
The Yinglong’s base stats weren’t low to begin with. It also had its War Dragon Form, a skill that weaponized its scales and dramatically boosted their defensive power. The problem was that the Yinglong’s overall strength ranked near the bottom compared to the other contestants’ units, so it didn’t have much of an advantage in this test.
In the end, the Yinglong placed eighth with a score of eighty-six. Meanwhile, Long Xiang’s Tyrannosaurus Rex performed exceptionally well. Its thick hide and raw durability carried it to third place.
Naturally, first place went to the contestant whose Subcosm Great Dragon scored ninety-eight points.
He deliberately walked past Han Wu with his clanmates in tow. “Tricks will only get you so far. They won’t help you pass the Great Dragon Championship qualifiers. If I were you, I would take that scrawny excuse for a dragon and withdraw before you embarrass yourself further.”
Han Wu didn’t flinch at the mockery. He even laughed. “If I’m not mistaken, my cumulative score still puts me in first place, ain’t it?”
The contestant froze. Han Wu’s performance in the first speed trial had been so far ahead of everyone else that he had earned a perfect 100. Everyone behind him had suffered from the Golden Scarab’s sabotage. Even the one in second place had only scored seventy-three.
By that calculation, Han Wu was firmly in first place. It wasn’t even close.
“Hmph. We’ll see. There’s still the third trial!” The contestant snorted and walked off with his Subcosm Great Dragon in tow.
Han Wu watched him leave and scoffed. “Subcosm or not, the purity of your core race’s bloodline hasn’t even reached that of the Dragon Kings. What are you so proud of?”
Only Long Xiang stood beside Han Wu. As a fellow member of the Ancient Dragon Clan, he couldn’t stand Long Lin’s arrogance either. His core race consisted of pure-blooded Great Dragons, and he had even cultivated one of them to the Subcosm rank.
In contrast, Long Xiang’s core race consisted of dinosaurs, which practically made him a discarded member of the clan. He didn’t even have the standing to talk back.
“Honored guest, please be careful. Long Lin is extremely petty. He’ll find a way to get back at you for sure,” Long Xiang whispered.
Han Wu waved it off. If they believed that the Yinglong’s strength represented his full power, then they were severely underestimating him. He knew better than anyone that relying on one’s own strength was the key to survival. If Long Lin wanted trouble, Han Wu would face him.
Let’s see who outplays whom.
The third day soon arrived.
Long Xiang once again brought Han Wu to the testing grounds. The number of contestants had already been cut in half. After two rounds, some had already accepted that they wouldn’t be selected, so they didn’t bother showing up for the third trial.
With fewer contestants, this round would proceed much faster.
This round tested attack power. The Ancient Dragon Clan had prepared a special relic that could display the damage it received as a numerical value, which made it an important tool for this round.
Han Wu happened to be placed right behind Long Lin in the lineup.
The test soon began, and the referee in charge explained the rules. The relic was called the Wooden Dragon Post. It possessed powerful regenerative abilities and defenses on par with a Microcosm life form. Any attack that hit it would register as a numerical value based on its intensity. A Microcosm attack scored one point, while a Subcosm attack scored a ten.
Han Wu furrowed his brow when he heard that the Wooden Dragon Post had defenses on par with a Microcosm life form. Even if the Yinglong activated War Dragon Form, it would barely manage to break through those defenses. If his score fell too far behind, his cumulative total wouldn’t place him in the top five, and he’d lose his spot in the qualifiers.
What can I do?
