The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend
Chapter 1065 - Breaking the Record
After completing the registration, every contestant received a token to record their results.
Han Wu rode his Yinglong to the starting line. All manner of dragon-type units stood at the ready along both sides of the course, from Great Dragons and Drakes to Wyverns and even dinosaurs. These were the obstacles meant to hinder contestants.
They eyed the course with burning intensity as they waited for someone to enter their range. Over a hundred members had entered the qualifiers. Three had pureblooded Great Dragons. The rest rode Drakes or dinosaurs. They all had at least Microcosm auras. One of the Great Dragons even radiated a Subcosm aura.
Long Xiang’s Tyrannosaurus Rex was among the competitors. The bondage session with Veritas had left faint marks on its body, but the pain wasn’t enough to slow it down.
At the referee’s signal, every contestant except Han Wu sent their mounts charging forward.
Great Dragons, Wyverns, and some flying Drakes took to the sky. The rest, including most Drakes and dinosaurs, raced on the ground, relying solely on raw physical strength.
There were two tracks with different obstacles. Those flying barely covered a kilometer before wind-attribute dragons along the course unleashed powerful gusts. Smaller Wyverns got blown off course entirely, with some even sent tumbling all the way back to the starting line.
Those running on the ground had it worse. Earthquakes, swamps, and constantly shifting terrain made progress painfully slow, and they quickly fell behind the fliers. That was just the first wave of obstacles.
Han Wu observed this all from the starting line.
“Han Wu, are you forfeiting?” the referee asked. “If not, get moving!”
Han Wu stretched and summoned a Mythic Titan from his divine realm. It was Ah Tai, the Mythic Titan with the Diamond Jurisdiction embryo. It towered at 100,000 meters tall and radiated Subcosm pressure.
The referee tensed and shifted into a combat stance. “Han Wu, what are you doing? The rules forbid you from harming the other contestants’ units.”
“Relax,” Han Wu said. “I’m just summoning a core race unit to help me out. The rules allow assistance from other core race units, right?”
The referee frowned. While the rules did allow it, a towering Mythic Titan was simply hard to make sense of in this context.
Han Wu ordered Yinglong to activate War Dragon Form. Its scales locked together into dense armor, and its claws gleamed like blades. The transformation had the referee and the clan members raising their eyebrows.
This Heavenrender life form was projecting the pressure of a Microcosm life form! The Yinglong was clearly stronger than it looked.
Han Wu rode the Yinglong up to Ah Tai’s open palm. Ah Tai activated its Diamond Jurisdiction and encased both Han Wu and the Yinglong inside a sphere of diamond.
The referee finally realized Han Wu’s intent.
Following Han Wu’s instructions, Ah Tai hurled the diamond sphere toward the finish line with everything it had.
A Mythic Titan’s raw power was staggering. The diamond sphere tore through the air. The headwinds that other contestants struggled against didn’t slow the sphere at all. Whenever it approached a physical obstacle, Han Wu and the Yinglong simply shifted their weight inside the sphere to adjust its trajectory.
The course spanned over 10,000 kilometers. Less than five minutes after the race began, Han Wu and the Yinglong crashed at the finish line like a meteor.
The deputy referee at the finish line was speechless. He had overseen more than fifty Great Dragon Championship qualifiers, but nobody had ever reached the finish line this quickly.
Even the previous record was ten minutes and twenty-three seconds. Han Wu had just clocked four and a half minutes, cutting the record by more than half. It was unbelievable!
“Han Wu, I’ll need to report your result to the clan elders for review,” the deputy referee said.
Han Wu waved his hand, unbothered. He had placed his own core race units along the course and was using them to watch the other contestants.
As expected, those with Great Dragon core races had a natural advantage. Their massive frames let them power through the headwinds and maintain a steady lead.
The ground runners with Drake and dinosaur core races had it rough. They’d fallen far behind due to the sheer number of obstacles that loomed before them. Han Wu spotted Long Xiang riding his Tyrannosaurus Rex near the front of the ground pack, but even he remained well behind the flying contestants.
Han Wu repaid kindness in equal measure. Although his Great Dragons had roughed up Long Xiang’s Tyrannosaurus Rex, Long Xiang had not held it against him. That didn’t sit right with Han Wu, so he decided to lend Long Xiang a hand.
This was where the core race units he’d planted along the course came into play. The Golden Scarab focused its gaze on every contestant’s mount—except the Tyrannosaurus Rex—and unleashed its signature technique, Forced Defecation.
None of the contestants escaped its stare. Those in the air and on the ground all felt the impact. Even Subcosm life forms weren’t immune to it if they weren’t specifically guarding against it.
Every dragon in the sky suddenly lost control of its bowels. The mid-flight barrage was spectacular.
The involuntary purge loosened their energy and killed their speed. Some caught a gust of wind at the wrong moment and were blown backward.
Those on the ground had it worse. They not only had to deal with their own situation but also had to dodge what was raining down from above. More than a few got splattered right in the eyes mid-sprint and crashed.
Long Xiang noticed something was off. Every other contestant’s mount was suffering while his Tyrannosaurus Rex was perfectly fine.
While undeniably fishy, it was also the opportunity of a lifetime. He urged his Tyrannosaurus Rex to pick up the pace and leave the competition in the dust.
