Chapter 1016 - Invasion and Counter-Invasion

Han Wu’s ability to charge the Source of Destruction thrilled the Death God King. This was a treasure with a 99% kill chance—practically a guaranteed death. Han Wu’s charge gave it one more shot at eliminating an enemy.

While handling the jeweled box, Han Wu sensed that the Source of Destruction was on the verge of breaking down completely. Even fully charged, it could only be used once or twice at most. He informed the Death God King of this.

The Death God King frowned. Powerful treasures tended to have greater limitations. Getting one or two uses out of something like the Source of Destruction was already extraordinary luck.

“Save it for the Life God King. That thing is too precious to waste on anyone else,” the Death God King said.

He knew firsthand just how hard the Life God King was to kill after fighting the man for so many years, but he was confident that even Life couldn’t escape a 99% kill chance.

After deciding that Han Wu was the best option to keep the Source of Destruction safe, the meeting circled back to their original problem.

The Destruction Clan’s assassinations were crippling their forces and had to be stopped. No one had a solution. The Destruction Clan’s members were few, moved unpredictably, and struck without warning. Assigning bodyguards to every God and above would protect lives but destroy their momentum.

Xu Hai consulted his archives and soon found an answer. “There aren’t many members of the Destruction Clan. If we eliminate all of them, the threat disappears.”

Everyone gave him a weird look. That was the most obvious statement they had ever heard.[1]

Only Han Wu caught the deeper meaning. “What my mentor is suggesting is that we step outside the divine war’s boundaries. If we know their citizen ID numbers and private information, we can locate their divine realms and invade them directly.”

The room erupted in admiration for Xu Hai. Leave it to the scholar to come up with a devious scheme!

Han Wu glanced at Sun Qingnian.

Sun Qingnian immediately nodded and said, “Let me contact my sources.”

Ten minutes later, he returned with every Destruction Clan member’s private information, which he spread out on the table.

“With Super Invasion Cards and this data, we can pinpoint their divine realms and invade,” he said simply.

Everyone else was amazed at his speed. Only Han Wu wasn’t surprised. Sun Qingnian’s informant network was second to none.

“Good work, young Sun Qingnian. Excellent job,” the Death God King said with genuine respect.

Sun Qingnian’s intelligence-gathering capabilities surpassed even the Death Faction’s, and they were the second strongest faction of the Divine Civilization! Being praised by the most powerful God King in the Divine Civilization was an honor Sun Qingnian wouldn’t forget.

While reviewing the data, Han Wu came across Gu Feng’s private information. An idea formed. If he could invade Gu Feng’s divine realm and kill him, the Destruction Clan would be headless. The same approach could even work on the Life God King or the War God King.

Pulling out a Super Invasion Card, he entered Gu Feng’s citizen ID.

Nothing happened.

Han Wu was left staring at it in bewilderment.

“A God King’s divine realm is protected by the powerful Will of their divine realm and their Divine Jurisdiction,” Xu Hai explained. “A citizen ID alone isn’t enough to force entry. You need to be face-to-face with a God King to invade.”

Han Wu felt both disappointed and enlightened. It seemed obvious in hindsight. If his method had worked, the Death God King would’ve killed the Life God King hundreds of times over by now. Unfortunately, that path was closed.

The other attendees began launching invasions against the Destruction Clan’s lesser members. One by one, the Gods and Major Gods were teleported out to lead the raids. Han Wu picked a target of his own, but before he could act, an alarm rang through his divine realm. Someone had invaded him!

Han Wu immediately guessed what had happened. The Life Faction had retaliated with counter-invasions. It was truly laughable. They had a path to heaven but chose to break down the door to hell.

After reporting the situation to the Death God King and Xu Hai, Han Wu returned to his divine realm. His senses and abilities were massively amplified on his home turf. At his realm’s edge, he detected over twenty gates, all pumping enemy units into his territory.

There were goblins, dwarves, cat-spirits, minotaurs—every kind of unit imaginable. The number of gates was also growing.

“All forces, full assault!” Han Wu commanded.

Every unit in his divine realm charged toward the invaders. His strongest units sprinted ahead, afraid they’d arrive too late to claim any kills. Meanwhile, Han Wu teleported above the invasion point and counted thirty active gates.

Thirty enemy Gods and Major Gods had chosen him as their target.

“You came looking for me. Don’t blame me for what happens next,” he muttered.

The two sides clashed. Han Wu’s units held every advantage: home turf, superior strength, and a counter for every race the enemy fielded. All thirty forces were steadily beaten back.
