Chapter 1015 - The Destruction Clan’s Maneuver

Han Wu stared at the ocean of light arrows below in utter shock. Han Guang’s output after absorbing the Light Spirit Orbs from Han Wu’s core units was truly staggering. The range and intensity of the attack surpassed even the skeleton sea that he and Jing Jing had built together.

This spectacle brought with it a chilling realization.

The only reason Han Wu had managed to assassinate the Light God King was that he had snuck into his divine realm and trapped him there. If the Light God King had been free to call for help and absorb Light Energy from his faction members, the resulting counterattack could have obliterated the skeleton sea in one shot.

Even the thought sent a shiver down Han Wu’s spine. Thankfully, Han Guang was on his side now.

Without the former Light Faction blocking them, the skeleton sea resumed its unstoppable advance. Every enemy the skeleton sea killed fed a tiny amount of development into Han Wu’s Slaughter Jurisdiction. While the gains were minuscule individually, they added up, and his Slaughter Jurisdiction soon reached 100% development.

The Slaughter Jurisdiction’s first effect, the Slaughter Barrier, was complete. Activating it would drag opponents into a realm filled with mountains of corpses and a sea of blood. The blood inside that realm would condense into weapons, and every enemy Han Wu had ever killed would rise as a corpse to attack the target endlessly.

It was a powerful effect, but Han Wu wasn’t interested in using the Slaughter Jurisdiction to ascend to God King. He was determined to wait for a Divine Jurisdiction that truly excited him.

The Death Faction’s other forces followed Han Wu and Jing Jing’s charge and pushed forward aggressively, reclaiming a good amount of territory. The Death Faction now controlled three-quarters of the entire battlefield.

If the advance continued, the Life God King’s location would inevitably be revealed, and the Death God King could use his Jurisdiction for a long-range kill.

Given the Life God King’s resurrection ability, though, a single kill would likely not be enough. That was why Wisdom God King was already constructing a Wisdom Tower at Death Faction headquarters. His Eye of Wisdom, mounted on the tower, could deliver an extremely powerful long-range strike once they confirmed the Life God King’s coordinates.

Those on the Life Faction’s side weren’t about to take this lying down either. While the Huang Shengjun legion was dealing with the virus, the War and Life Factions had deployed their forces. Unfortunately, they suffered repeated setbacks.

Only the Destruction Clan had yet to contribute. Gu Feng knew that the Destruction Clan would be cut loose if they didn’t act soon. Without allies, the clan would become a target, which would ‌jeopardize their mission to find the Destruction God King in the Chaotic Starfield. So, he volunteered the Destruction Clan for assassination attempts behind enemy lines.

Members of their clan trained in their family’s secret Destruction cultivation techniques from a young age. They bound their skills, Divine Skills, Aspects, and Authorities to manifest an instant death effect with a set probability on every hit. Although not specifically trained as assassins, they were every bit as lethal.

The Life God King was desperate enough to agree to this proposal.

Members of the Destruction Clan soon poured onto the front lines. Several Death Faction members encountered them, and many died to their set kill chance. The situation on the front lines grew extremely tense. Dozens of deaths forced the Death God King to slow his advance.

Han Wu was pulled into another meeting. No one at the table had a solution. Having a set chance of instant death was rare, and the Destruction Clan had practiced it their entire lives.

Some members had even optimized their abilities for rapid multi-hit attacks, stacking as many chances to trigger the kill effect as quickly as possible. Against a single target, it was still manageable, but in a group battle, it was a nightmare. The Destruction Clan only further optimized this by targeting the kill effect on Gods and ignoring the regular units.

Han Wu didn’t have a good answer either. Even though his Skull Guillotine, derived from the Destruction Aspect, carried a 25% kill chance, using it would cost him dearly. It wasn’t a card he would play unless absolutely necessary.

As Han Wu was mulling it over, the Death God King pulled something from inside his robes. It was the jeweled box that his Decay Manifestation had snatched from Gu Feng, the Source of Destruction.

The box was sealed to prevent unintended exposure. After days of studying it, the Death God King had given up trying to open it. Without the power of Destruction to fuel it, not even the strongest being in the Divine Civilization could crack the seal.

The Death God King had been ready to let it gather dust, but when the topic of kill chance came up, he suddenly remembered that Han Wu possessed a Destruction Aspect. He didn’t know if it would work, but it was worth a try.

Han Wu carefully picked up the box. The instant his palm touched it, his Destruction Aspect activated on its own and began feeding energy into the seal. Han Wu could feel the Source of Destruction inside drinking in the power.

The Death God King’s heart nearly leaped out of his chest. When he had brought it out for Han Wu to test, he hadn’t actually expected it to work.

Energy flooded into the box until it reached the threshold for opening. Han Wu was about to lift the lid when the Death God King hastily stopped him.

The Source of Destruction’s 99% killing chance was no joke. The only thing that box should ever be pointed at was an enemy.
