Chapter 510: Part 2
Chapter 510: Chapter 475: Part 2
And just like that, the professors in the Traditional Chinese Medicine department grew to like her more and more. Each and every one of them wished they could snatch her up as their disciple.
“But I already have a master,” Yun Jiao said.
Instantly, the TCM professors’ worlds came crashing down.
“You… you have a master? Who?”
‘Who made a move so fast!’
It was truly a case of “you snooze, you lose.” They were all filled with regret, wondering why they couldn’t have met her sooner.
Yun Jiao said with a smile, “My master’s name is Xu Lai.”
The TCM professors were stunned.
“No wonder, no wonder.”
One of them sighed, “So it was him.”
Yun Jiao looked at him curiously. “Professor Sun, you know my master?”
Professor Sun chuckled. “How could I not? I’m an old friend of his; we’ve been close for years. When we were young, we’d often discuss cases together. But that old codger later ran off to some small county town. I heard he opened a clinic there to live a quiet life.”
Yun Jiao nodded. “Mhm, my hometown is over there. I met my master when I was little and started learning from him then.”
Hearing this, Professor Sun looked at Yun Jiao with a benevolent gaze.
“Yun Jiao, you’re very impressive.”
“I’ll have to go visit my old friend another day.”
‘And see if I can poach his student.’
Yun Jiao, of course, had no idea what he was thinking.
After bidding farewell to the professors, she left.
When she reached the hallway, she noticed a commotion up ahead.
There were even girls letting out soft squeals.
‘Which big celebrity came to our school?’
‘Could it be Brother Nine, here to see me?’
Yun Jiao walked over. First, she’d take a look. If it was Brother Nine, she’d rescue him. If not, she’d just watch the show.
Then, as soon as she got there, she discovered it wasn’t Brother Nine, but she still had to perform a rescue.
Because… it was Fu Mingyu.
‘Oh, right. Fu Mingyu goes to school here too.’
“Jiaojiao.”
Fu Mingyu spotted Yun Jiao at a glance. His normally cold face didn’t change, but his eyes lit up with a smile the moment he saw her.
The reason his face wasn’t smiling was, of course, because he was still the same as when he was a kid—utterly expressionless.
Surrounded by so many people, Fu Mingyu was very annoyed.
But at school, he was basically a huge celebrity.
After all, he was widely acknowledged as the most handsome ‘campus heartthrob’ and had held the title for three years.
It wasn’t just the upperclassmen; even the new first-years knew who he was.
Besides being handsome, he was also talented. At such a young age, he was already participating in national projects with professors. It was clear to anyone that his future was limitless.
He walked toward Yun Jiao, and in an instant, everyone’s gaze fell on her.
Yun Jiao grabbed him and ran.
“Let’s get out of here, quickly.”
The crowd was growing. If they didn’t leave now, they wouldn’t be able to.
The moment she grabbed his wrist, Fu Mingyu’s heart couldn’t help but speed up, and his ears turned a faint, unconscious shade of red.
Once they reached a less crowded area, Yun Jiao let go of his hand.
“Wow, you’re really something. So many people like you.”
Fu Mingyu hurriedly explained, “No, it’s not like that. I don’t like them.”
‘Wow, he’s getting all flustered.’
Yun Jiao looked at him in surprise. “What are you so flustered about? I didn’t say you liked them. I was just saying you’re very popular.”
Fu Mingyu let out a sigh of relief.
“I don’t like them crowding around. It’s annoying.”
Even though his face didn’t show much emotion, he somehow looked aggrieved, like a big puppy.
Yun Jiao smiled and asked him where he’d been recently.
The two of them walked and talked along the shore of the school’s lake.
While they were at it, they admired the koi and swans in the lake.
Yun Jiao took a bag of fish food from her pocket and tossed some into the lake. Immediately, a large number of fish swam over.
Several of them were as fat as pigs.
She pointed to one of the big, fat, golden koi.
“Fu Mingyu, look! How much must it have eaten to get this fat? It can barely swim.”
Fu Mingyu glanced over. “It’ll be able to swim just fine in a moment.”
Smelling the food, the fat koi suddenly began to thrash its tail furiously, shooting into the school of fish like a cannonball. Leveraging its size, it pushed aside the other koi, successfully charged to the very front, opened its wide mouth, and sucked in a whole bunch of fish food in one go.
‘…No wonder you’re so fat.’
This was Yun Jiao’s first time feeding the fish here.
Qingbei University was huge, and she had only discovered this spot recently. The last time she came, she hadn’t prepared any fish food, but this time she had come ready.
So this was her first time seeing how the fish here ate.
“How do you know so much about it? Have you fed them here before?”
Fu Mingyu nodded.
“The swans over there like fish food too.”
Yun Jiao looked over and, sure enough, saw the swans swimming toward them.
You had to admit, whether they were black or white, the swans were truly elegant.
They were both geese, but while a big white goose like Dabai was like a country bumpkin, swans were like noble ladies and gentlemen.
They swam over, stretched out their long necks toward Yun Jiao, and began to call out.
Yun Jiao still had quite a bit of fish food, so she went ahead and sprinkled some more.
This fish food was made from her own special recipe. The fish definitely loved it, but she didn’t know if the swans would.
As it turned out, they did.
The swans and the fish vied for the food with great enthusiasm, which angered several of the fat koi so much that they started nipping at the swans’ feathers with their mouths.
Yun Jiao watched, amused. It was quite interesting.
Fu Mingyu stared at her face for a moment, a little lost in a daze.
When he snapped out of it, he quickly turned his head away.
“I also know where there are stray cats. Want to go?”
“Then I’ll go buy some sausages,” Yun Jiao said.
And so, the two went off again to buy sausages to feed the stray cats.
Fu Mingyu seemed to come here to feed them often. The stray cats weren’t afraid when they saw him; instead, they came over, meowing in high-pitched voices and rubbing against his legs.
Fu Mingyu didn’t mind getting cat hair on his pants. He crouched down to pet the calico that was rubbing against him, then looked at its belly with some confusion.
“Why is your belly smaller?”
Yun Jiao also came closer and crouched down.
“Was her belly big before? Did she have her kittens?”
They broke the sausage into small pieces and offered it to the calico. The cat immediately took a piece in its mouth, but instead of eating it, it turned and left with its tail held high.
The two of them exchanged a look.
That confirmed it. She definitely had kittens. Filled with curiosity, they both followed her.
