Chapter 505: Chapter 472: Arrival in the Capital

After Yun Jiao sent the largest golden pearl and a bolt of white shark gauze to the *Flame*, it was time for her to start university.

There were still matters at home that required someone to stay behind. For one, the animals on the island and the cultivated pearl mother shells needed looking after.

So this time, only her fourth brother came to see her off.

She was a big girl now; her parents didn’t need to accompany her all the way to school.

Besides, she had several brothers in the Capital. They would surely be there to take her to school.

And so, after bidding farewell to her parents and master, Yun Jiao and her fourth brother boarded the train to the Capital.

“Jiaojiao, don’t forget to call when you arrive.”

Yun Jiao stuck her head out of the train window. “I know, I know! You guys should head back.”

The train rumbled all the way to the Capital. After getting off, Yun Jiao immediately spotted her brothers, who stood out from the crowd.

Her third brother was busy in the lab and couldn’t get away, but Fifth Brother, Sixth Brother, Brother Ba, and Brother Nine had all come.

Just the sight of them standing there was a scene in itself; each was handsome and attractive in his own unique way.

Yun Xiaojiu was wearing a mask and a hat, revealing only his eyes, but his figure and aura alone were enough to draw attention.

His influence was quite significant by now. There were only so many television series on the air, so any household with a TV would watch a good one.

Yun Xiaojiu had already starred as the lead in two blockbuster dramas. He was handsome, a talented actor, and had a great public image. It was no exaggeration to say he was a household name, beloved by young and old alike.

After getting off the train and spotting her brothers, Yun Jiao noticed several girls trying to strike up conversations with them, only to be gently turned away by Yun Xiao Liu and Yun Xiao Ba.

Among the group, Yun Xiaowu had a certain swagger. His features were sharper and more ruggedly handsome, but he had the kind of fierce look that warned people not to mess with him. Right now, his hands were shoved in his pockets, a cigarette dangled from his lips, and his eyes held a trace of impatience.

The girls who wanted to chat them up didn’t dare approach him.

Only Yun Xiao Liu and Yun Xiao Ba were more approachable. Yun Xiao Liu was sunny and cheerful, while Yun Xiao Ba was refined with a hint of aloofness.

As for Yun Xiaojiu, he didn’t dare say a word, terrified of being recognized.

“Fifth Brother, Sixth Brother, Brother Ba, Brother Nine…”

Yun Jiao jumped and waved her arms, and they spotted her instantly.

Instantly, their expressions softened.

“Jiaojiao!”

Yun Xiaowu dashed over, sweeping Yun Jiao into his arms and spinning her around.

“Hahaha! You’re finally here.”

The others walked over too, gathering around Yun Jiao and ruffling her hair affectionately.

“Let’s go. We got a room all ready for you.”

They had come by car—Yun Xiaojiu’s car.

They didn’t let Yun Jiao carry her own luggage; Yun Xiaowu grabbed it, walked out of the station, and tossed it into the trunk.

Yun Xiaowu was the first to speak.

“Jiaojiao, you register in six days, right? Want to come hang out at my school for a few days?”

Yun Xiaojiu added, “You could also come hang out at my company. Didn’t you say you wanted to see Su Huan?”

Su Huan was the young man who had stood up for Yun Xiaojiu back in school. His grandmother had passed away during his first year of high school, and he dropped out instead of continuing his education.

High school was expensive, and university would be even more so after the college entrance exams.

He had borrowed money from neighbors and even the Yun family to pay for his grandmother’s medical treatments, accumulating significant debt.

But ultimately, he couldn’t keep his grandmother with him for long.

To repay his debts, he dropped out of school and went straight to work.

The Yun family had actually offered to pay off his debts for him, letting him pay them back in the future.

But Su Huan refused. He said he wasn’t cut out for studying and wanted to work instead.

After that, Yun Jiao rarely heard news of him.

She heard he had gone to Xiangjiang and had actually managed to make a name for himself.

He returned two years ago with a large amount of capital and immediately invested it all in the entertainment industry.

When Yun Xiaojiu and Su Huan met again, Yun Xiaojiu had been drugged, smashed a wine bottle over someone’s head, and was being chased by a group of bodyguards.

The moment Su Huan recognized Yun Xiaojiu, he charged in and took down all the bodyguards by himself.

He then took Yun Xiaojiu to the hospital. After that, they reconnected, and Su Huan even convinced Yun Xiaojiu to partner with him and use his funds to start a company together.

Now, Yun Xiaojiu was not only a co-owner of their company but also its biggest star. He had a great deal of freedom and only took on roles that he personally liked and wanted to play.

Yun Jiao nodded. “Okay! We still have a few days, so there’s no rush.”

Fifth Brother was at the Capital Sports School, and Brother Nine’s company headquarters was also in the Capital, so everything was a short car ride away.

The Capital was home to many prestigious universities and large corporations, making for fierce competition.

But this was also an era where new companies and nouveau riche families were emerging in droves.

Yun Xiaojiu and Su Huan were already showing signs of becoming part of this new elite. In a few more years, if the entertainment industry continued to prosper, they would solidify their position and become a new powerhouse family.

When they arrived at the courtyard house, Yun Jiao took her luggage to her room.

The room had been redecorated according to her tastes, and it even had an alcove bed, the kind only seen in the chambers of noble young ladies in ancient times.

The bed was like an exquisite little room of its own, complete with a matching dressing table and stool inside.

That’s right—it was the very same alcove bed left behind by the house’s original owner.

It must have been refurbished. The worn-out parts had been repaired, it had been given a fresh coat of lacquer, and incense was burning nearby. The whole thing was stunningly beautiful and offered a cozy sense of security.

Yun Jiao loved it.

After putting away her luggage, she went to help cook dinner.

Then they called over all their friends who lived nearby to eat and drink together.

Yun Jiao had a little to drink as well, though it was just fruit wine.

It wasn’t the kind of thing that would get you drunk.

She called her family and chatted for a long while before dutifully going to bed when it was time.

She had a comfortable night’s rest, not experiencing any of the usual trouble of sleeping in an unfamiliar bed.

‘What a joke. She could fall asleep anywhere in the ocean; why would she have trouble with a new bed?’

The next morning, she was woken up by a furtive Yun Xiaowu. After quickly getting ready, he whisked her into his car and off to the sports school before any of the other brothers realized what was happening.

Yun Jiao was speechless.

The other brothers, waking up to find Yun Jiao gone, were also speechless.

Yun Xiao Liu grumbled resentfully, “Fifth Brother is going too far! It’s not like I was going to fight him over her. I could have gone to his school with them.”

Yun Xiaojiu’s handsome face darkened.

“Heh… So he’s wary of me.”

Among all their potential hangout spots, besides Yun Xiaowu’s school, his company was the most interesting place to visit.

Yun Xiao Liu’s private restaurant was really only a destination for mealtimes.

Yun Xiao Ba’s work primarily involved dealing with older people. It would be fascinating for someone who understood antiques, but incredibly boring for anyone who didn’t.

“Come on, let’s go find them at the sports school!”

Meanwhile, Yun Jiao had already been brought to the school cafeteria by her Fifth Brother.

The school cafeteria served breakfast, and the one at the sports school was known for being both delicious and nutritious.

He pulled Yun Jiao into the line, not expecting to see so many people he knew, including several from the swim team.

“Holy crap, Yun Chenqin! Where’d you find such a pretty little sister?”

The guys waved him over, letting him cut the line.

Yun Chenqin didn’t stand on ceremony, brazenly dragging his sister with him to the front.

Some people in line were about to complain, but they were silenced the moment they saw Yun Xiaowu’s cocky, fierce expression, followed by Yun Jiao’s stunningly delicate face.

Yun Xiaowu clearly wasn’t someone to be trifled with.

And Yun Jiao was clearly someone you couldn’t bring yourself to blame.

It really was a world that judged by appearances.

Yun Xiaowu shot his teammates a glare. “What are you all yelling about? And wipe those looks off your faces. This is my sister!”

Instantly, everyone’s eyes lit up as they stared at Yun Jiao.

Who wouldn’t adore such a beautiful girl!

“Hey, bro…”

Yun Xiaowu shot a kick in his direction. “Get lost! Who are you calling ‘bro’?”

They were his buddies, so Yun Xiaowu knew exactly what they were thinking with a single glance.

‘Even though they were his buddies, he had to admit, none of them were good enough for his sister!’

‘Besides, his Jiaojiao was still young. It would be best if she didn’t get a boyfriend until she was at least thirty.’

Yun Jiao simply watched from the side, smiling.

They all bought the breakfast they wanted and ate as they walked.

Yun Jiao quickly got to know her Fifth Brother’s friends, and she could easily keep up with their conversations.

Yun Xiaowu, meanwhile, was on high alert, glaring at his buddies like a hawk. The moment one of them looked at his sister the wrong way, he was guaranteed to get a kick.

The ones who got kicked just looked aggrieved.

It wasn’t really their fault. Yun Jiao was so beautiful that it was easy to get lost just looking at her and break into a goofy grin without realizing it.

But at only sixteen, she was indeed too young.

‘If she were eighteen, they’d be trying to win her over right now, no matter what.’
