Chapter 478 - 453: The Thieves’ Families Pay a Visit

  • Next Chapter

"They’ve got a lot of nerve, daring to rob us without even asking around about our family."

You could say that nowadays, none of the good-for-nothings or loafers in the entire village dared to steal from them, even knowing they had money.

After all, while Yun Jiao was small, she was vicious when she fought.

She had taught a lesson to anyone who didn’t believe it.

The three thieves were tied up, watched over by the family’s two dogs and one cat, while everyone else went back to bed.

Early the next morning, someone came to their house.

"Why are there three people tied up in your yard?"

And I don’t recognize any of them.

Granny Yun immediately explained what had happened the previous night.

"Oh my, thieves? Well, serves them right!"

"Jiaojiao is amazing. If these thieves had gone to anyone else’s house, it would have been a disaster."

"You can say that again. They even found a knife on them."

As Yun Jiao was brushing her teeth, she heard the yard getting noisy. It sounded like quite a few people had gathered.

When she came out after washing her face, she saw that many villagers had arrived and were surrounding the three thieves tied to the tree, pointing and gossiping.

"Does anyone recognize these three?"

"They look a little familiar."

"The village dogs were barking like crazy yesterday. I thought I heard some screaming, but I figured I must have been mistaken."

"You live a bit far from the main part of the village, otherwise we all would’ve come to help."

"As if they needed it! Jiaojiao handled it all by herself."

When everyone heard that Yun Jiao had scared the three thieves by pretending to be a ghost, they all showered her with praise.

"Doesn’t that guy look like Fatso from town?"

a young man suddenly said.

Everyone immediately gathered around the young man, asking questions.

"Shuanzi, you know him? Quick, tell us, who are these guys?"

"I only know the fat one. He hangs around with a guy in town who runs a gambling den. I heard he used to be involved in the black market but got arrested. I guess he was released later."

Hearing this, the villagers all exclaimed, "Sounds like they’re no good."

"Lin Hai, are you taking them to the police station? We’ll go with you. We can’t let these three thieves get away."

The three thieves wore mournful expressions, but begging for mercy was useless.

They were beaten for begging for mercy, and in the end, they were marched to the police station by a huge crowd.

The police there got the details of the situation and took everyone’s statements.

Yun Linhai handed over the dagger they had found on the thieves.

"Mr. Zhao, we found this on them."

Zhao Jian Country took it and examined it carefully, his expression turning serious.

"Thank you, Mr. Yun. We will investigate these men thoroughly. They might be connected to several home invasion robberies. In one case, a family was woken in the middle of the night, and the wife was stabbed with a dagger. We’ve been searching for the culprits. If it’s them, then you’ve done our station a huge favor once again."

Yun Linhai and his family hadn’t expected this to be connected to a series of home invasions.

"If it is, then that’s for the best."

If so, with the criminals caught, there wouldn’t be any more victims.

Yun Linhai and his family were frightened in retrospect. If it hadn’t been for Jiaojiao, and those guys had actually managed to sneak into the house armed with a dagger... wouldn’t that have been incredibly dangerous?

After leaving the police station, Yun Linhai went home and told his family what had happened.

"Oh my, from now on, we have to make sure to lock the windows and everything."

"Locking them won’t help. How could they be thieves if they didn’t have some skill in picking locks and prying open doors?"

That was true.

"Good thing we have Jiaojiao, and two fierce dogs."

’Thinking about it that way made them feel much safer.’

They thought that was the end of the matter with the thieves.

But unexpectedly, a few days later, two families managed to track down their home.

"It was you! It was you, wasn’t it?! You’re the ones who got my son thrown in the police station! How could you be so black-hearted!"

Blocked at their front door and being cursed out by strangers, Yun Jiao’s family was completely dumbfounded.

"Who are you?"

The two elderly people at the front looked mean, sharp-tongued, and not to be trifled with.

"We’re Liu Daqiang’s parents! He’s the one you had sent to the police station a while back. You’d better figure out a way to get him released, and fast."

One of the women, with three children in tow, dropped to her knees right in front of them.

"Please, I’m begging you, let my husband go! Without him, how are we supposed to live, a widow and her orphans?"

The way they were putting on such a dramatic performance, anyone who didn’t know better would have thought Yun Jiao’s family had committed some heinous crime.

Wang Mei came over, shouldering a bamboo broom stained with chicken droppings.

"So, you’re the families of those thieves?"

The two elders were utterly shameless, so they weren’t the least bit afraid of people laughing at them.
