Around noon, the government sent someone to their village to make an announcement.

The person who came to deliver the news was surprised to find that most of the villagers had already packed.

They had even prepared their sleeping mats for the shelter.

As soon as the comrade who made the announcement left, the villagers started talking amongst themselves.

"Thank goodness for the village chief and the others, and for Mazu. I can’t believe a huge typhoon is really coming."

"You guys don’t know, but it was Jiaojiao who told Yun Linhai and the others."

"What? For real? Jiaojiao can predict typhoons?"

"Why not? Yun Xiaowu and the others all said she was brought here by a giant sea turtle. Who knows, maybe she’s the Dragon King’s daughter, here to undergo a mortal trial."

"Wow, now that you mention it, that makes sense. The things Jiaojiao can do... she’s not like any ordinary person."

The situation in other villages was not something young Yun Jiao had to worry about. Once it was confirmed that a major typhoon was coming, both the military and the government got busy.

Many of the houses in the coastal fishing villages weren’t very sturdy, so people had to be evacuated to safer locations.

Furthermore, according to the observations of Professor Sun and his team, the typhoon was set to arrive tomorrow night.

However, evacuating the villagers wasn’t an easy task. Many people insisted on bringing their household belongings and poultry.

Some were even more ridiculous, wanting to bring all their pots, pans, bowls, and ladles, which significantly increased the government’s workload.

Yun Jiao and her family stayed in their own home.

Their green-brick-and-tile house was sturdy enough to withstand it. The windows were all nailed shut with wooden planks.

After the adults had checked everything inside and outside the house, they settled in to wait.

"I wonder how many days this typhoon will last."

"Who cares? We’ve prepared enough food to last for half a month anyway."

"Have Jiaojiao’s and Little Eight’s masters been told?"

Yun Linhe: "Don’t worry, they’ve all been notified. And even if we didn’t tell them, the government would have."

Mr. Yun nodded, then said to Yun Chenbei, "Go pick up your master tonight and bring him here. It’s better for everyone to be together so we can look out for each other."

Yun Chenbei nodded.

That evening, Mr. Mu was brought over. Granny Yun and the others cooked a table full of delicious food, and they even had some wine.

Soon, the day Yun Jiao had predicted the typhoon would arrive came. Even though it was still daytime, everyone could clearly feel the change in the weather.

"Quick, quick! Don’t linger outside! Follow yesterday’s assignments and take your children and elders to the ancestral hall and the temple."

The village chief and the others had arranged everything a day in advance.

As soon as the weather turned, everyone rushed with their families to the ancestral hall or the village temple.

Then they shut the doors tightly. Just to be safe, they even nailed them over with wooden planks.

Around seven in the evening, a torrential downpour began, and fierce winds raged outside.

Even from inside the safe house, they could feel the intensity of the wind.

From time to time, the sound of things crashing against the door and windows made their hearts pound in fear.

"Stop watching. Come eat some hot Spanish mackerel dumplings."

A large basin of dumplings was brought to the table, and the people who had been craning their necks to watch the typhoon from the windows immediately came back.

The large family sat together, eating steaming hot dumplings. Amid the talking and laughing, the raging storm outside seemed a little less terrifying.

"It’s all thanks to Jiaojiao. If a typhoon this big had appeared suddenly without any warning, imagine the damage."

"The material losses are a small matter. It’s the people that are most important."

In the past, when major typhoons hit without warning, many unprepared people were swept away and lost their lives.

It could be said that for people living by the sea, the fear of such massive typhoons was bone-deep.

"There’s no point in just waiting around like this. Let’s play cards."

The children played with marbles while the adults played cards.

It was very dark in the house now. The power was out, so they had to use candles for light.

Yun Jiao and Yun Xiaojiu practiced their dancing.

For the next several days, the typhoon outside showed no signs of weakening. In fact, it grew stronger.

The WHOOSHING sound of the wind was terrifying.

Finally, after a week, the commotion outside began to die down.

"Great! The typhoon must be leaving."

Being cooped up at home for a whole week was truly miserable.

Hadn’t they noticed how even Yun Xiaowu, usually the most rambunctious of the bunch, had become completely listless?

If they felt this way in their own home, one could only imagine how it was for those living together in the shelters.

The conflicts there must have been numerous.

Fortunately, two days later, the torrential rain stopped. There was still some wind, but it was no longer a problem for them.

While others were still waiting and watching, unsure if the typhoon had completely passed, Yun Jiao could sense it.

"It’s gone."

That morning, Yun Jiao announced the wonderful news to her family.

Yun Xiaowu and the other children jumped up and cheered, even lifting Yun Jiao and tossing her lightly into the air.

Not a single person doubted her.

And so, the door was opened.

There was still wind outside, mixed with a bit of rain.

But a person could now stand firm in the wind.

"Dad, should we take the planks off the windows?" Yun Linhai asked, taking out a hammer.

Yun Jiao stared at the distant beach.

"Dad, don’t take the planks off yet. I think there’s something big on the beach."

"What? Let me see."

A crowd of people immediately gathered, but their eyesight wasn’t as good as Yun Jiao’s, so they couldn’t see clearly.

"Let’s go, let’s go! Forget the windows for now. The typhoon just passed, so there’s bound to be a lot of stuff washed up from the sea. Grab your tools and let’s go scavenge!"

"Bring plenty of burlap sacks and net bags."

Old Man Lin’s interest was piqued as well, and he grabbed a bucket to head toward the beach with them.

Their first target was, naturally, the thing Yun Jiao had seen.

When they saw what was on the sand, everyone gasped.

"Wh... What is that thing!"

Shen Yunlian’s voice cracked.

The thing was long and slender, looking like a giant sea serpent from the deep.

It resembled one not only in length but also in shape!

Everyone cautiously approached and circled the creature on the beach before coming to a conclusion.

It was a super-sized, extra-long version of a fish that looked very similar to a hairtail!

"An Emperor Fish."
