Yun Linhai and Yun Linhe were strong, so they forged ahead, clearing a path and making it easier for everyone else to follow.

They managed to squeeze onto the train, but that was only half the battle.

The train cars were packed with people. In the confined space, a chaotic mix of noise and smells swirled together, becoming utterly overwhelming.

Yun Jiao immediately turned and buried her face in her fourth brother’s chest.

"Brother, it stinks."

Yun Chenbei patted her head. "We’re almost there."

’Thank goodness I bought sleeper tickets,’ he thought.

’The environment in the sleeper car has to be better than the seating section.’

"Excuse me, make way!"

After a great struggle, they finally reached the sleeper car, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

It was indeed much quieter here than in the other cars.

Mr. Mu led them to their designated bunks.

The bunks were narrow but clean.

They were bunk beds, and Yun Xiaowu and the other boys were excited about the top bunks.

Yun Xiaoqi checked his ticket. It was for a lower bunk, so he immediately went to find the person with the corresponding top bunk.

"Dad, you have a top bunk! Trade with me, I want to sleep on top!"

Granny Yun and the other elders weren’t spry enough to climb onto a top bunk, so they were naturally assigned the lower ones.

Once everyone had settled into their spots, they crowded around the train window to look outside.

"When is the train going to leave? I’m so excited!"

"Jiaojiao, are you still feeling unwell? Here, have an orange candy."

Yun Jiao stood there obediently as Shen Yunlian unwrapped the candy and popped it into her mouth.

"It’s yummy! I don’t feel sick anymore, Mother."

Granny Yun instructed the children, "There are other people in this car, so you can’t be loud and rowdy like you are at home. You’ll disturb them."

Yun Xiaojiu covered his mouth and nodded quickly.

"We know."

Yun Xiaowu replied in a hushed voice.

"What a bunch of country bumpkins."

The harmonious atmosphere was suddenly shattered by a grating voice.

Instantly, the entire family turned to look in the direction of the voice.

It was a fashionably dressed woman with curly hair and bright red lipstick. It was clear she was wearing makeup.

Not wanting to cause a scene on the train, Shen Yunlian and the other women just secretly rolled their eyes and ignored her.

When no one responded, the woman rolled her eyes again, sat down on her bunk, and took out a small mirror to examine her face.

The train lurched into motion with a CLANG-CLANG sound, and the scenery outside began to slide by.

Yun Xiaowu and the other boys let out small, hushed gasps, their excitement palpable.

With a lollipop in her mouth, Yun Jiao squeezed in between her brothers to look out the window too.

It was her first time on a train as well, and she was curious.

But no matter how novel it was, the curiosity faded after watching for a while.

There wasn’t much to do on the train. The trip to the Capital would take a day and a half, meaning they wouldn’t arrive until sometime tomorrow.

So for the time being, they had to either sleep or find their own entertainment.

Yun Chenbei took out the small automaton animals he had made.

He had made them recently under the guidance of Mr. Mu.

Not only was the carving of the animals more exquisite now, but they even had fur.

The little bird, for instance, had real feathers glued to its body, making it look just like a live one.

Yun Jiao tossed the automaton bird into the air, and it made a turn before flying back to land in her hand.

The other automatons—kittens and puppies—could run all over the place.

As Yun Jiao and her brothers were having fun, a little boy in the same car saw the toys, and his eyes lit up. He ran straight over and tried to snatch the flying automaton bird right out of Yun Jiao’s hand.

"Hey, what are you doing?!"

Yun Jiao dodged, and the little boy missed. Yun Xiaowu and her other brothers were furious.

"Give that to me," the boy demanded.

He held out his hand, his expression completely entitled.

Yun Xiaowu shoved him away. "Who do you think you are? Why should we give it to you? What’s wrong with you, trying to snatch people’s things?!"

"What’s going on?! What do you think you’re doing?!"

A plump, wealthy-looking woman came stomping over, shouting as she glared at Yun Xiaowu and the other boys.

"How dare you touch my son! If he gets so much as a scratch, could you afford to pay for it? You bunch of paupers."

A portly man with a large beer belly stood beside the woman.

He wore a thick gold chain around his neck and several gold rings on his fingers. The only thing missing was a sign on his face that read ’I’M RICH.’

Yun Linhe’s mouth twitched. ’This guy really isn’t afraid of getting robbed, is he?’

"Hey, you young fellas," the man said. "It’s not right for so many of you to gang up on my son, is it?"

Yun Linhe retorted, "Ganging up? Are you blind? Your son was the one who ran over and tried to snatch something from our kids first."

The plump woman was dismissive. "It’s just a stupid toy. So what if my son likes it? Just give it to him. Poor people are always so stingy. People like you will never make any real money in your lives."

Wang Mei wasn’t one to back down. She immediately shot back, "If you’re so rich, how come you don’t buy your son any toys? Why does he have to snatch them from others? Even a beggar knows to say a few nice words when asking for something. You people just go straight for the grab. Anyone who didn’t know better would think your family raised a common thief."

"You bitch, who are you calling a thief?! Do you have any idea who we are? Believe it or not, my husband can have you bunch of paupers thrown off this train!"

"What’s all this, then?!"

The train police had arrived.

The woman who had earlier called them country bumpkins was standing at the end of the car.

"Officer, it’s them," she said. "They’re the ones arguing. How is anyone supposed to get any rest?"

The plump woman immediately tried to turn the tables. "Officers, this has nothing to do with us! It’s these children who were making a ruckus and bullying my son! You have to help us, Officer! Get these people out of here!"

"Hmph... I’ve seen shameless people before, but I’ve never seen anyone as shameless as you," the curly-haired woman interjected. "Officers, what happened was these kids were playing with their toys, and that family’s child saw one he liked and tried to snatch it without saying a word. That’s what started the whole thing."

Yun Jiao was a little surprised, because it was the curly-haired woman who had spoken up.

’That’s so weird,’ she thought. ’She just called us country bumpkins, but now she’s defending us.’

’Hmm... I’ll have to observe some more. Why are humans so strange?’

The other passengers in the car could also corroborate the story.

After Granny Yun’s warning, Yun Xiaowu and his brothers hadn’t been making a ruckus at all. It was the other boy who was the problem.

That family of three had been on the train before the Yun family arrived. The boy was a real piece of work—a total spoiled brat. He’d been running all over the car, kicking people’s bunks and luggage, and even spitting at them.

Not only did the two adults do nothing to control him, they actually praised their son for being "fierce."

Anyone who tried to confront them about it just ended up in an argument that went nowhere.

The couple tried to sidle up to the officers and be friendly, but the police weren’t buying their act.

They warned the couple to behave, telling them they’d be kicked off the train if it happened again, and then they left.

The two adults dejectedly carried their wailing son back to their own bunks.

Wang Mei put her hands on her hips and sneered. "Is that all? And they were going on about getting us thrown off the train. You’d think they owned the whole line."

Granny Yun said, "That’s enough. Let’s not lower ourselves to the level of such ill-mannered people."

The argument might have been over, but the train car was far from quiet.

The couple’s son was clearly spoiled rotten at home. Not having gotten what he wanted, he was now crying and screaming, and even started rolling around on the floor of the car in a full-blown tantrum.
