Chapter 139: Bluefin Tuna

The leopard coral grouper Yun Jiao just discovered looked to be about ten pounds.

She darted over to grab it, but the grouper was clever and immediately shot out from under the reef, fleeing in a flash.

Yun Jiao immediately gave chase.

Neither the sea turtle nor the Whale Shark was as fast as she was.

By the time Yun Jiao caught up to the leopard coral grouper and knocked it unconscious, she turned around to find her companions had disappeared.

Yun Jiao: "..."

Just as she was about to call for the sea turtle and the Whale Shark with her song, a massive school of fish suddenly swam overhead.

Yun Jiao’s eyes lit up.

It was no wonder she was so excited. Those fish were edible, and more importantly, they were enormous!

The adults were at least two meters long.

They swam by in a huge, magnificent school. It was no different than watching a pile of money swim right past her.

Clutching the leopard coral grouper, Yun Jiao unhesitatingly charged toward the school of fish.

Bluefin tuna are incredibly fast. Just as Yun Jiao was about to catch up, the school suddenly panicked and darted away in another direction.

Yun Jiao: ???

"SQUEEE-EEE-EEE~~~"

An overly cheerful sound rang out, and Yun Jiao finally understood why the school of fish had fled so quickly.

As expected, the killer whale group soon came into view.

Annoyed, Yun Jiao smacked the head of the little killer whale charging at the front. It was rushing toward her like a cannonball. Of course, she controlled her strength and didn’t hit it hard.

It didn’t hurt, but the little killer whale looked utterly wronged. ’Why did you hit me?’

The little killer whale instantly perked up.

Yun Jiao said, "First, help me catch some fish."

The little killer whale let out a few cheerful calls to the killer whale group behind it.

As the ocean’s apex predators, prey targeted by killer whales rarely escape.

The school of bluefin tuna hadn’t gotten far. At the signal from Yun Jiao and the little killer whale, the rest of the pod immediately gave chase.

They were experienced hunters and split up to pursue the tuna from different directions.

Yun Jiao grabbed onto an adult killer whale’s dorsal fin and was instantly towed through the water at incredible speed, not needing to swim at all.

Other sea creatures scattered in every direction at the sight of the killer whale group.

Before long, they had caught up to the school of bluefin tuna.

The school of fish grew even more frantic.

"That one."

Yun Jiao had her sights set on a bluefin tuna that weighed around two hundred pounds.

She pointed, and the killer whale immediately shot after it.

"What the fuck was that? Something just whooshed past."

By now, Yun Jiao and the pod had reached another part of the ocean, one that happened to have a fishing boat in it.

"Just now... was that a school of fish that went by?"

The man’s eyes went wide, and he leaned over the side of the boat to peer into the water.

"I think it’s tuna! It’s a school of tuna!"

They were ecstatic. Tuna! Catching just one would be enough to keep their family fed and clothed for a long time.

Just as they were preparing to cast their net, another voice on the boat suddenly cried out in terror.

"Dad! Quick, we have to get out of here! Behind us... look behind us!"

A killer whale’s triangular dorsal fin slicing through the water is an intimidating sight, to say nothing of its sheer size.

Their small wooden boat wouldn’t survive a single hit from one of them.

The men on the boat forgot all about the fish and frantically started rowing, trying to get away.

But there was no way they could outpace the killer whales. They could only watch helplessly as the creatures charged toward them.

The father and son on the boat closed their eyes in despair, bracing for death. But after a moment, they realized the boat had only rocked a little; it hadn’t been hit.

When they shakily looked back at the water, they only saw the distant killer whales and a fleeting flash of white.

Before they could get a clear look, the killer whales had vanished.

Having survived the ordeal, the father and son’s legs both felt a little weak.

"Those... those were killer whales, weren’t they?"

"Thank God. At least they weren’t sharks."

They had actually gone around their boat.

It was obvious now that the school of tuna was the killer whales’ prey.

What a shame. They’d encountered a school of tuna but hadn’t even had time to cast their net.

It was like a dream that had turned into a nightmare.

Meanwhile, Yun Jiao and the killer whale group had surrounded the fish she wanted.

The other bluefin tuna had already abandoned it and fled.

The bluefin tuna tried to escape, but one of the killer whales sent it flying into the air with a slap of its tail. It spun a few times before falling back into the sea.

Yun Jiao swam over to check on it. ’Good, it’s not dead.’

"Alright, let’s head home."

With such a large catch, Yun Jiao gave up on searching the seabed. She grabbed the bluefin tuna by the tail with one hand and held onto the little killer whale’s dorsal fin with the other, letting it tow her back.

They didn’t need the same breakneck speed for the return trip, so their pace was much slower.

When they reached the area where her father and the others were, Yun Jiao spotted the sea turtle and the Whale Shark searching for her.

Upon seeing the killer whale group, their first instinct was to flee.

Even a creature as large as a Whale Shark is afraid of killer whales.

In terms of size, the Whale Shark is larger, but their fighting ability is on a completely different level.

The killer whale is an apex predator of the ocean. It’s highly aggressive; not only Whale Sharks, but even massive creatures like Sperm Whales are its prey.

A Whale Shark, despite its size, feeds on plankton and small fish. It has a gentle temperament and isn’t very aggressive.

"Wait! Don’t run! It’s me, I’m back!"

The Whale Shark kept fleeing. It didn’t matter who was calling; its life was on the line.

The big turtle’s flippers were a blur. It had only one thought: ’Run, run, run...’

Only the little sea turtle paused when it heard Yun Jiao’s voice and looked back.

Seeing Yun Jiao, it happily paddled over.

As the saying goes, a newborn calf doesn’t fear the tiger.

This little sea turtle had probably never had a harsh lesson from a killer whale before.

She decided to first get the leopard coral grouper onto the boat and put it in a large bucket, then have the killer whales guard the tuna while she went to find her father and brother.

She took the little sea turtle with her, since the little one would be scared if left behind.

After calling out several times, Yun Jiao heard her father’s reply.

She quickly jogged over.

Yun Linhai and the others heard her and headed in her direction.

"Jiaojiao, you’re back! You must be hungry. Once we get this stuff onto the boat, we’ll roast some steamed buns for you."

Yun Jiao grabbed the hand of her big brother, who was walking in the lead.

"Forget about that for now! I caught a huge fish, but I can’t get it onto the boat."

Yun Linhe came over, laughing. "Oh? And just how big a fish could it be that our little strongwoman Jiaojiao can’t lift it?"

Yun Jiao thought for a moment before describing it. "It’s about as big as that wild boar we ran into at Grandma’s."

"WHAAAT?!!"

The three of them instantly yelled in shock, their voices cracking from the volume.
